Katie Holmes tries to beat the crowds as she goes for an early morning Whole Foods Market run on Friday (July 6) in New York City.
The 33-year-old newly separated actress, who was joined by one security guard, walked back to her apartment with a bag of groceries in a reusable tote.
Sometimes I purposefully don't bring my bag because WF has high quality paper bags which are handy to have at home, so I snag a few with my groceries about once a month.
LOL I always bring those big ass paper bags with me, and keep reusing 'em. So far they haven't broken. It'd be easier just to buy a reusable bag, sure, but . . . XD
it's like people have forgotten the fact that she agreed to marry him in the first place. i'm happy for her that she's leaving him but she is complicit in their relationship, it's weird how everyone's acting like she was forced into it or something.
And another person who doesn't know how abusive/ controlling relationships work. If I had a penny for every one of you...
All props to her for managing to break the brainwashing - been there, done that, still in therapy, and I'm rooting for her. Was she supposed to pay for her mistake the rest of her and her daughter's lives? Sure, she married him, but there are a million ways in which people can get suckered into a controlling relationship - she might have been dazzled by his "stardom", thought he wasn't that bad/ she could change him, etc etc. And after a while, you end up stuck because you don't think you can trust anyone and you just don't see a way out of the shit pit.
So yes, we ARE cheering her on, because once you're in a situation like that it's easier to just suck it up and stay put that decide that you're done with this fuckery and bounce on the double. It usually takes a severe kick up the ass before most people realise that they need to make a decision and bail, and she, like me, is one of the lucky ones - I haven't heard anything about Katie suffering physical abuse, but the control and the emotional/ psychological repression was always there. For me it was realising that if I didn't get away from my father I'd end up dead, for her it might have been the prospect of Suri becoming a Co$ robot - who knows? The point is that she found the strength to draw a line in the sand, say "enough is enough", take Suri and bail.
