Katy Perry: 'Nobody Relates to Being Perfect'

Katy Perry shows her patriotic side on the cover of this weekend’s Parade.

Here’s what the 27-year-old pop star had to share:

On why she included her divorce in Katy Perry: Part of Me: “I think if people walked out of the theater and that was completely avoided, they would be like, ‘Well, there’s an elephant in the room that’s still there.’ I like to go out there looking like a strong woman, because I am strong. But I am also a woman who goes through all kinds of problems and highs and lows. I wanted to show the complete spectrum.”

On being honest in her concert film: “There are a lot of things that are personally uncomfortable to show, especially me without makeup and completely bloated or crying. But I’ve realized that it’s time for me to show my audience that you don’t have to be perfect to achieve your dreams. Because nobody relates to being perfect … I’m okay with having bad dance moves. I’m okay with having horrible lower teeth. That’s what makes me me, and for some reason it’s worked out all right.”

She is REALLY trying this new "I'm just a normal girl" image she has going on for her movie. She's marketing herself to teen girls and it's going to hurt her when she wants to be all "srs bznss" when her next album comes.

i liked her better when she was self-aware and didn't take herself so seriously; she knew she was wacky and that was kind of the point

now it's just a mess

Isn't a huge part of her fan base already teen girls though? I saw some special about her and was for some reason surprised by how young her fans were.

When I went to her concert I was freaked out by the number of girls under 10 there (and the number of women over 40 with no children).

Yea I was really surprised by how many pre-teen fans she had.

It makes sense because her music is peppy and she dresses like a five year old girl's dream, but it was definitely odd to see a four year old belt out Peacock.

MTE MTE MTE. But I can't imagine Katy ever being a serious musician. She'll always be wacky to me. And her image has always been targeted to younger girls because that's her main fan base, from what I can tell.

She's never marketed herself to anything other than teenage girls though so it's not surprising. She's always said she wants to "grow" with her audience.

i thought all of her fans were teen girls
