Check out the Batshit-Crazy Red Band Trailer for 'The Man With the Iron Fists'

The trailer for Universal's "The Man with the Iron Fists" has arrived, and it looks just as batshit-crazy as you'd expect from a movie brought to you by Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth, and Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.

Starring RZA (who also directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Roth), Russell Crowe, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu and Pam Grier, the film centers on a blacksmith (RZA) in feudal China who makes weapons for a small village. He is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.

Lucy is serving up some major Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon realness and I'm loving it. Thanks to we_eat_coldcuts for this ferocious gif.

I'm not a stan, but I thought he normally spaced his appropriative fuckery out a bit.

oh god, a bandwagon member.. by "appropriative fuckery" you actually mean his homages to asia cinema which has been huge inspiration to him as a film maker? Don't bullshit.

rme, gworl.

Wut white savior bullshit is he ~homaging~ to with Django Unchained?

idk, from what I've heard summarized, Django Unchained sounds a lot like Mandingo (and its sequel Drum) to me. Except -this time- instead of giving the title character a name like Drum, he took the title character's name in Django, then (judging from the trailer) threw in a few scenes from Il Grande Silenzio.

Have you read the script?

It's about Christoph Waltz turning a ~simple brown slave into a man so he can rescue his wife~. It's ridiculous, and not in a qt ironic way.

I'm not really interested in reading it (so I could be off base w/ my opinion), but the summary just sounds to me like Il Grande Silenzio meets Mandingo. Even some of the visuals in the trailer reminded me of both.

Django is going to be the one saving everyone! and he's paying homage to spaghetti westerns. Hrmmmmm

don't know why people are arguing with you about this, Django is your basic white savior bullshit

Spaghetti Westerns, Blaxploitation, Revenge movies...it's the usual awesome stuff that Quentin combines into his movies.

he's "presenting" it but RZA is directing and eli wrote and produced. QT and robert rodriguez do a lot of "presenting" because they have a close group of film people that they work with. it's different.
