i think they'd do better with fantasy, at least they don't have to try and explain how something would be possible. they could just excuse it with, "MAGIC!"
Post it
OT but...who's watching the game? is there a post or thread somewhere i can geek out on???

except it won't suck
So list the good YA novels you've read, guys?
Some of the ones I've read this year:
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver (well, I read it last year but I found it so good I'll just list it here)
anything by Melina Marchetta, pretty much
The Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (though I did side-eye the male lead a lot)
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness (childrens? idk)
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

In the meantime, I'm going to be pouring my efforts even more in my WIPs and if I can't go trad publishing, I might as well self-pub and promote the heck out of it.
The publishing company is going to slap their names ('Kardashian' at that) on the cover and then hustle them into stores to sell it.
I get that the young adult area in the market has never been amazing literature but I don't remember it being like it is now with all these celebs writing books and fanfic becoming books until after twilight.
I'm still pressed about this.

ps. i love diabla. those episodes of whatever show that i can't remember was amazing.
One fantasy about leprechauns trying to take over the world. One Sci-Fi about a girl sucked into an alternate reality by an alien-like fugitive.
Yeah, that is as close to a "genre" as I have figured out.
So far it's just an anthology of my experiences in the house plus a few fabricated that the characters experience, and so far has no real discernible... plot points, I guess.
The first series (which I just recently finished the outline of) is high fantasy and I've started the first draft. The second is an urban fantasy (I've outlined this one like crazy) and have 50+ pages done so far. The third is still currently in the planning process and takes place in a post-apocalyptic world (definitely not dystopia, though.) The standalone will be an experiment in psychological horror, which is a genre I don't usually write in. But I have a great idea for it, so I hope I can pull it off to some degree. ^^;
