Bill Clinton and LeBron James: Wedding Crashers!

Over the weekend, two lucky couples bumped into some famous faces on their wedding days.

On Friday, Kelly and Patrick Howard got married at the Castlemartyr Resort in Cork, Ireland. Imagine their surprise when former US President Bill Clinton, who was in town as a guest of an Irish-American philanthropy group, walked over and introduced himself!

"That is one photo that is definitely going into the album — it is a memory that will last us forever,"  the groom told Irish Independent.

And on Saturday, Miami natives Jamie and Shaun Kolnick tied the knot at the Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove. The couple heard rumors that NBA champion LeBron James was in Ritz for an interview with Sports Illustrated, and when they spotted him in the hotel's courtyard after their first look, they jumped at the chance for a truly memorable wedding-day photo.

"He was really nice. And then he disappeared into the tall man abyss," the bride told Huffington Post.

Bill Clinton just walked over and introduced himself for no reason? That's pretty cocky imo

Sorry, I guess my point was if someone interrupted my private party because they thought I would want to meet them it would seem arrogant to me but maybe they bumped into him in the hall or something.

Maybe it's because my wedding was a private event and I've never been to an open reception where strangers could come in so it's weird to me.

Yeah, I don't think this was during the reception. It looks to me like they were outside maybe between their wedding and the reception, and he saw them and decided to say hello. Nothing arrogant about that.

No IA with you. If I was at a wedding, mine or even someone else's tbh, and some celeb just waltzed in stealing the couple's spotlight I'd be v unimpressed.

Yeah I don't get why people don't understand that, I don't think most people enjoy being upstaged by anyone without inviting the celeb or whoever into their party.

Like others said maybe it was outside in a public area so I guess that would be fine.

Eh. There is usually a part in weddings were you go congratulate the couple, no? Maybe he saw them and was moved to wish them luck.
grande_latte 27th-Jun-2012 10:05 pm (UTC)
Why?

He saw the couple and prob wanted to wish them well

When I got married it would have been weird to me if someone walked into my reception and introduced themselves to me. Receptions in my experience are private parties, I guess that's why it seems a little self important to just walk in there like the couple would want to meet you.
grammaire 27th-Jun-2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
It's not like he interrupted their vows to say hey. And it doesn't say it was during the reception either. They were at a public place, and if that picture is any indication they were outside hanging out, so I don't think it's that big of a deal.
