Houston Rapper Riff Raff Signs With Diplo’s Label
Houston, Texas-based rapper Riff Raff has signed a record deal with Diplo’s record label, Mad Decent!.
Riff Raff joins artists like Bonde do Role, Bosco Delrey, Po Po, Dillon Francis and Rusko as artists on Mad Decent!.
Over the past several years, Riff Raff has collaborated with a number of artists, including Soulja Boy, Chief Keef, Action Bronson, Andy Milonakis, Kid Sister and others.
Riff Raff and Mad Decent! CEO Diplo will host a signing party for the rapper on June 19 in Los Angeles.
Riff Raff rose to fame as a rapper/contestant on the Fonzworth Bentley-hosted VH1 reality series “From G’s To Gents.”
Riff Raff is currently in the studio working on his 2013 debut for Mad Decent!

Flavor Flav Avoids Jail
Flavor Flav has avoided a jail term after the rap and reality TV star paid enough of his overdue child support payments to satisfy a judge.
The rap star was looking to serve 180 days behind bars after he owed his children’s mother $111,186. Earlier today, Flavor Flav appeared in Albany County Family Court and paid a lump sum that deferred his bid, according to TMZ.
The amount of the payment was not disclosed at press time.
A court clerk told TMZ that the Public Enemy hype man “took care” of his child support obligations with the mother of his three kids, Angie Parker.
Flavor Flav is due for another date in court this upcoming September to ensure he has continued to pay as scheduled.

Suspect Caught In Shooting At Yo Gotti Concert
Police believe they have apprehended the man that shot a concert goer outside of a Yo Gotti concert over the last week.
On Saturday, John Willie Jones allegedly shot and killed John Pressley in front of a crowd of people at a Yo Gotti show in Mexico.
Police received a number of leads that Jones departed Albuquerque, Mexico for Texas, which is where they found him.
Detectives then left for Dallas last Thursday and subsequently arrested Jones. Another man named Jordan Bryant was arrested as well as an accomplice in the crime.

G.O.O.D. MUSIC ALBUM ‘CRUEL SUMMER’ GETS A RELEASE DATE
The wait is almost over. Pusha T took to the airwaves today to reveal the release date for the long-awaited G.O.O.D. Music compilation.
Kanye West and his cohorts will release Cruel Summer in August, according to the Clipse rapper. “G.O.O.D. Music compilation coming August 7,” Pusha told Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97.
The album has spawned the single “Mercy” featuring Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, and Kanye West. The crew is expected to perform the song at the BET Awards on July 1.
Kanye first announced plans for the album in October 2011. An accompanying film of the same name was shot in Qatar and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.

Casting For N.W.A Bio-Pic Begins
Casting has started for an upcoming bio-pic that will center on the early origins of legendary rap group N.W.A.
Director F. Gary Gray is looking for new actors and actresses to star in “Straight Outta Compton.”
Gray, who has lensed movies like “The Italian Job,” “The Negotiator,” and “Friday,” is seeking talent aged 18-25 for the flick.
Roles are open for the parts of Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Yella and MC Ren.

Meek Mill Cancels European Tour Due to Legal Restraints
Meek Mill has announced that he is cancelling his upcoming Dreamchasers European Tour, in what has been a tumultuous past two weeks for Philly/Maybach Music Group rapper.
While some have speculated that the cancellation is due to his association with the Chris Brown/Drake incident, it is actually related to a different set of circumstances that center around Meek’s previous felonies as described in his Tweet, alluding to a “felty.”
“The uk tour has been cancelled bcuz I can’t get in yet because felty past criminal record but my lawyer will get things fixed soon,” Meek Mill tweeted from his Twitter account @MeekMill.
Although the tour has been cancelled, it is likely that Meek will get the situation resolved with his lawyers in the coming months, and it’s clear Meek was disappointed and wants to get the tour underway.
“I wanted 2 come bad as shit! #uk we gone get it right!” he added via Twitter.
Meek Mill’s tour was supposed to hit the road beginning on July 4, with a stop in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The seven-date outing planned stops in cities like UK, Scotland and France, before winding down in Paris, France on July 10.

Trae the Truth Wounded in Strip Club Shoot Out; Three Die from Gun Shot Wounds
This morning (June 20), Houston rapper and Grand Hustle signed artist, Trae the Truth, was wounded in a shooting at a strip club on the southwest side of Houston.
Police said two men and a woman died at the scene, as a crowd gathered in the parking lot.
Trae the Truth is currently hospitalized and recovering from the incident.
Witnesses say the shooting occurred after the “Trae Concert After Party” at nearby Club Blue.
Hours after the shooting, police said the specifics of the shooting are still unclear, despite going through evidence for several hours.
According to the Houston Chronicle, as of the time of print, there were no suspects or clear motives for the shooting, but investigators think the shooting could be connected to a domestic dispute that occurred on Father’s Day.
While they maintain that suspicion, details of how that dispute is related to the shooting are still being confirmed.

Maybach Music Group rapper Stalley has landed a high-profile gig at the Montréal International Jazz Festival taking place in June and July.

ATL’s own Miss Keri tapped into her creative side while painting a mural outside the school cafeteria. “It gives your life a purpose and you may not realize that when you’re young, but it really does give you a sense of appreciation, a humbleness that you wouldn’t get if you weren’t being so selfless,” said the “Pretty Girl Rock” singer, who was encouraged to volunteer at a young age.

NAS CO-SIGNS AZEALIA BANKS AND MEEK MILL
While A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Electronica all have Nas’ respect, he singled out fellow New Yorker Azealia Banks. “I fuck with that ‘212,’” he told Rap-Up.com of the 21-year-old’s breakout single. “She has incredible star power, you can see it already. I think we need that. To come across the total package in this game, you need more than just a hot 16 and not everybody is blessed with the total package. She has it.”
According to Mr. Jones, another artist who has “it” is Meek Mill. “I got my eyes on him. He’s the next one to take this shit over. I’m rooting for him,” said Nas. “There are no more street orators in the game, who are fresh off the block and can tell us currently what’s going on. So you gotta appreciate him. We have to support Meek Mill’s movement because he’s talking about real life and if we don’t support that, then what are we doin’?”
Nas was recently in the studio with the Philly MC, recording for his upcoming debut Dreams & Nightmares. “It’s amazing,” he said of their work together. “I say out of everybody that’s new I listen to him and I feel like he’s doing what we need. I’m dying to just kill it on his album.”
He also has love for Meek’s Maybach Music mentor, Rick Ross. “I respect Ross’ business acumen and I respect his music. I fuck with his shit,” said Nas, who collaborated with Rozay on his upcoming album Life Is Good.
In addition to releasing his 10th album on July 17, Nas will play the Rock the Bells festival later this summer.

LIL WAYNE DISMISSES PUSHA T FEUD: ‘THERE’S NO BEEF’
Don’t believe the beef. Lil Wayne and Pusha T may have exchanged barbs on their diss records last month, but the Young Money chief claims he has no issues with the G.O.O.D. Music MC.
Pusha T released the fiery “Exodus 23:1,” which took aim at Drake and his YMCMB crew. Weezy shot back with “Goulish,” on which he raps, “F**k Pusha T and anybody that love ‘em/ His head up his ass, I’ma have to headbutt him, gut him.” But he’s brushing off the beef.
“It really wasn’t no beef,” Tunechi told The Associated Press at the launch of his clothing line TRUKFIT at Macy’s in Los Angeles. “It was just me. I just reacted. Just a reaction, a simple reaction. I don’t apologize for it because I’m human. But it was just my human reaction. I don’t take it back. But there’s no beef. Beef is a whole different thing. … I’ll move on.”

LIL WAYNE EXPLAINS HIS DECISION TO PULL NICKI MINAJ FROM SUMMER JAM
Lil Wayne sparked a firestorm after he made the decision to pull his protégée Nicki Minaj from Hot 97 Summer Jam. Now the Young Money chief is speaking out on his controversial move.
“That’s a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female,” (YOU DON'T SAY) the “Lollipop” rapper told MTV News backstage at Birthday Bash 17 in Atlanta. “I don’t know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times, no matter when or where or how.” (it would help if you stopped referring to women as 'females'...)
After being ridiculed publicly by Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg, Nicki informed her boss. “As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything,” said Tunechi. (this is just a very smart business move) “I pulled her from the show because … no person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet.” (WAYMENT but people disrespect YMCB all the...ugh nvm)
While Weezy feels she should have been treated with respect, he doesn’t hold a grudge against the New York radio station. “I expect the red carpet, in her manner; the pink carpet to be laid out for her,” he continued. “It’s just an executive move, no salt, no bad feelings, no hard feelings.”
But he still stands by his decision. “I feel like a woman’s supposed to be respected at all times, therefore I believe I made the right decision,” he said.

Did Rick Ross Shut Down Waka Flocka Flame?
I heard a lil’ rumor that Rick Ross and friends may have “compelled” Waka Flocka to fall back off those statements he made about people watering down his style. You remember the interview he did with Complex, right – where he basically said Rick Ross stole his style. Here’s a refresher on what he said below:
“That’s crazy [that Rick Ross stole my swag], but what you gonna say? This nigga out here making 30 f**king sounds with your sound. He watering it down, just putting words together that sounded good. Shit would be harder if it was the truth…niggas built labels off our sound—like, literally.
You know how many niggas sound like Lex Luger and Southside? I go in niggas’ studios, all their beats sound like my producers. I be like, What the fuck? [But] you can’t be mad at something you can’t control.”
Well after that, he basically called Complex liars and that the quote was taken out of context. Uh, right? Who pressed him? I’m just saying…there is a big difference with what he said after. I heard he had a talking to. Hell, his mother is a G. She may have talked to him!

Are Lauryn Hill And Rah Digga Working On A Song Together?!
Lauryn Hill and Rah Digga were spotted last week at the premiere of Ice T’s new movie, Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap, in NYC. The two ladies were allegedly overheard chatting about a possible collaboration together! Rah Digga has been quiet since her split with Flip Mode Squad back in 2007, but it would be great to hear her on a track again, especially with Ms. Hill.

Are Lupe Fiasco Fans “Elitists”? Killer Mike Thinks So!
Hold on now, there is no beef here between Killer Mike and Lupe Fiasco! (that we know of) – BUT, Killer Mike did say, “When you have Lupe and the audience that he brings, a lot of times that audience can perceive [themselves] to be more than or elitist.” Do you agree?
Killer Mike was recently on the Green Lantern Invasion Radio Show and was talking about how there are two extremes in rap, and both can be damaging. He cited Waka Flocka Flame as the rowdy or ignorant rap style, and Lupe Fiasco as the intellectual style. Check out what he said about both styles below:
“Waka gets presented as ignorance,
“On the other side, when you have Lupe and the audience that he brings, a lot of times that audience can perceive [themselves] to be more than or elitist,” explained Mike. “I watched the Roots work their audience back. I remember when the Roots audience used to shimmy up like, ‘We don’t do the Jay-Z.’ And the Roots and Jay worked together like, ‘Nah, ee all Black men, this all Hip-Hop.’ And then those two audiences fused together. With audiences like [Lupe's] a lot of times you can protect yourself behind the ‘I don’t really deal with rap, but I listen to Lupe.”

Is Mobb Deep Filing A Million Dollar Lawsuit Against Milkcrate Athletics?
There are rumors that a million dollar lawsuit is in the works against Aaron Lacrate of Milkcrate Athletics for bootlegging Mobb Deep’s trademark brand name on their shirts. Apparently the duo agreed to a small promo of one tee, and Aaron pulled “a scum bag move” and began producing numerous shirts with the Mobb Deep logo and image.
Milkcrate Athletics is not authorized to sell Mobb Deep or Infamous T-shirts, but has allegedly been making it seem like Mobb Deep is under a full endorsement deal with them. Insiders told us exclusively that Mobb Deep in no way supports this” tacky crumb and his wack tee-shirts.”
The crew is allegedly urging fans and retailers not to support the T-shirts, either.
