To Perform At London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony?

One Direction are reportedly being lined up to perform at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics this summer.

The 'Gotta Be You' singers have achieved huge success worldwide this year, and will allegedly perform their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' at the end ceremony on 12th August to celebrate the final day of London 2012.


"The main theme of the Olympics closing ceremony will be celebrating the best of British music, so it's only right that One Direction are opening the show," a source told the Daily Star this week. "They are the UK's biggest export at the moment, behind Adele, who is also rumoured to be involved in some way."

"It's all top secret and the boys aren't allowed to talk about it, but they are thrilled," the source added. "One direction are unstoppable at the moment. To perform in their home country's Olympic ceremony is like winning their very own gold medal."

The closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics will be streamed live around the world and is expected to be watched by around one billion people.

One Direction Continues to Make Bank



One Direction's worth is expected to double in value by next year.

'The X Factor' 2010 rejects have been raking in funds recently helped by an album that went to number one in 16 countries and a DVD that topped the charts in 25 places.

Sony Music UK's boss revealed that Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles - who are signed to Simon Cowell's Syco in Britain and Columbia in America - are already worth 32million.

Nick Gatfield said: 'We fully expect to double that 32million figure next year.

'The team around them, including musicians, stylists, producers, tour managers and so on, is 90-strong,' he continues. That's 90 jobs created by these five boys.'

Louis, 20, bought 2.5million, five-bedroom house in North London, while Zayn, 19, recently snapped up a 2.2million property.

Harry, 18, spent 575,000 on an East London residence.

The group is planning on blowing some of their cash by betting on the sweepstake on the Euro 2012 football tournament.

Liam, 18, confirmed: 'We're all in a sweepstake with the crew as to who's gonna win Euro 2012.'

One Direction mock Zayn Malik's new microphone tattoo on stage:



The 19-year-old lad, who is dating Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, showed off the new artwork on Saturday night during their show in California.


Zayn's tattoo, which he had done on Saturday in LA, shows a microphone in black ink on his lower arm with a wire wrapping around his wrist.

But while Zayn's latest tattoo is an undeniable sign of his passion for music, his bandmates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne – decided to make a joke of it on stage as they performed the LA leg of their Up All Night US tour.


Mid-show, they decided to have a little fun at Zayn's expense as the boys stood on stage holding their microphones in the same position as the tattoo.

Giggling away, it was clear they thought they were being rather clever.

They've certainly been busy touring the US with their debut album but they've had time to chill too as it emerged the lads took a break to go fishing.


And Liam was clearly a dab hand at the sport as he came away from their day out having caught a tiger shark, despite being just his second outing with a rod.

Liam proudly explained: 'We went fishing in San Diego. It was only my second time ever fishing and we had such great fun.

'We went fishing for half an hour and there was nothing at all. Then I pulled out a baby tiger shark,' he added to The Sun.
