I watched half of the first episode and have had a hard time getting in to it. Does it pick up at all?

I dunno, most episodes result in me having heart palpitations and sweating so yeah pretty much it does pick up.

it's very depressing and whatnot at the start, but picks up super quickly and is definitely worth sticking with imo

It took me about seven months to watch the first two episodes. Then, I watched the rest of season 1 AND season 2 within a couple weeks.

No one I know liked the first season at all, I had to beg them all to continue watching it so I could discuss it with somebody. But everybody loves it now.
