Critics Choice Awards Winners 2012

On Monday night, June 18, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced the winners of its 2012 Critics Choice Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles -- its second annual event.

Though "Community" led the pack going into the evening, with six nominations, they only took home one award -- luckily, it was the most important one, for Best Comedy Series. "Modern Family" reigned supreme in the supporting actor categories.

On the drama side of things, "Homeland" won for best series -- and its star, Claire Danes, for best drama actress.

In addition to the winners, the critics also revealed their most highly anticipated new shows with its "Most Exciting New Series" list. Mindy Kaling's "The Mindy Project," and ABC's "Nashville" were the shows they're most excited to see this fall. Kevin Williamson's "The Following," will premiere in January 2013. Also on the list were summer shows -- Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" (which starts June 24 on HBO) and Greg Berlanti's "Political Animals" (premiering on USA on July 15).

Best Actress in a Comedy Series: (Tie) Zooey Deschanel - New Girl (FOX) and Amy Poehler - Parks and Recreation (NBC)
hera_bearrra 19th-Jun-2012 07:22 am (UTC)
I like New Girl and Jess but even I don't think Zooey is a great actress. She's just okay, IMO.
so_chic_doll 19th-Jun-2012 07:30 am (UTC)
Schmidt should be the only one winning awards for New Girl imo, even though I adore the show.
syzygy09 19th-Jun-2012 09:21 am (UTC)
so silly. The only person who has business tying with Poehler is Louis-Dreyfus.

Deschanel winning acting awards is laughable, and I like New Girl.
foreignhorsie 19th-Jun-2012 04:58 pm (UTC)
This doesn't even make sense.
hateistoodark 19th-Jun-2012 10:53 pm (UTC)
should've been a tie with Julia Louis Dreyfus
xhoney_bee 19th-Jun-2012 07:15 am (UTC)

brianistuft 19th-Jun-2012 07:23 am (UTC)
Probably accepted the award for the Voice.
bluepassiflora 19th-Jun-2012 07:26 am (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know he was on that. I guess Chris Pratt accepted Amy's award, then?

It doesn't look like any of the male winners were there.

emilenshook 19th-Jun-2012 07:21 am (UTC)
I am actually pleased with most of these winners.
hera_bearrra 19th-Jun-2012 07:28 am (UTC)

Flawless. Helmet hair? Not for Lucy. Looks like a Loreal commercial. Because she's worth it, bitches.

smh at breaking bad not winning best drama

there is nothing better than that show on television rn
emilenshook 19th-Jun-2012 07:26 am (UTC)
they'll get it next year for sure

but to be fair, Homeland is very very good as well
lightredemption 19th-Jun-2012 10:53 am (UTC)
seriously. It is SO superior to Homeland
ciao_bella315 19th-Jun-2012 11:37 am (UTC)
I have to admit - Breaking Bad was my favorite tv show hands down, the Homeland came around and now I flip flop. They're both so good/well written/well acted but so totally different.
leopard_legs 19th-Jun-2012 06:36 pm (UTC)
I really, REALLY fucking need a UK tv channel to show Breaking Bad from the start, so I can marathon it like crazy and get really into it.
They're showing The Sopranos from the start and we're coming to the middle of season 6 now, so I will soon need a replacement. Get it together, UK!
