Scarlett Johansson is one of the most envied and lusted-after women in the world, but the Avengers star, 27, says she's not crazy about that kind of attention.
In an interview with Grazia Italia, Johansson laughed when asked if she thinks of herself as a role model to other women. "There are so many wonderful women out there," she said in the chat (excerpted by the Belfast Telegraph). "I don't like being labelled as 'the sexiest woman alive.' As an actress I prefer to maintain the anonymity."
These days, the resolutely private actress -- whose exes include former husband Ryan Reynolds and Sean Penn -- is enjoying a quiet romance with NYC ad exec (and Hollywood outsider) Nate Naylor.
One thing she's happy to share? She hearts her job! "I can't imagine having a job that makes me happier than acting," she says. "I adore my job, especially when you hear the director shouting, 'OK! We have the scene!' This is so satisfying!"

It doesn't work that way. You can't be in the biggest blockbuster of the summer and have anonymity.
I just think what she means if that she doesn't want the press, attention, etc outside of being in the movie, or promoting it, etc. Like when she goes to the store, she just wants to be left alone and not stared at or haggled for autographs. Or when she goes out to eat, etc.
Alot of celebrities are like that. Obviously they love the attention for their work as it's what they do for a living and they want to be recognized for it. They want their movies to do well and the want to see it go to number 1 but outside of that, they still want their privacy and their own life outside of everything.
And of course they know it's hard to avoid the attention they get from taking big roles (or in a musicians case, selling millions of albums and becoming popular) but there are ways around it and to avoid it for most of the time and someone like Scarlett is definitely low-key when she's not filming or promoting and seems to know that.
So I actually believe her (and others) when they say that.
"I never wanted to be a sex symbol. I wanted to be a character actor. Those are the actors I often mostly admire."
So I'm assuming she meant anonymity as far as 'becoming' her characters for the audience.
