Paramount nabs rights to Libba Bray novel "The Diviners"
Paramount Pictures has plans to bring Libba Bray's upcoming novel to the big screen with Bray herself attached to provide the adapted screenplay. The book, the first of four planned volumes, is set for release in September and is officially described as follows:
Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces! Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as "The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her first.
Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz will produce the property through Fake Empire with Bray executive producing.

she's a great author and though I don't like all her books, I totally respect her so good for her! Plus the summary of this book on goodreads seems much better than the one they provided here. Did anyone go to BEA and get this book? If so tell me if I should put it on my TBR list :)
Oh, and the cover is a bit shitty, but I'm so glad they didn't go some generic Pretty White Girl in a Prom Dress route.
Can we make this a What Have You Been Reading/Writing Post????

So it's like a YA X-Files episode, oh.
I am writing two different things; a supernatural Gothic, and a twee cutesy hipstery thing.
/serious epic brain fart happening here
//i has a bunch of notes! i just have to type them all up, i have this habit of writing my notes on paper
Yes, yes, Seth Graham-Smith, I got it the first hundred times you explicitly stated that...
I'm still reading the Two Towers (LOTR), I'm finally getting into it after a very slow start. I feel bad, I really want to finish it but I think I'll wait a while before reading the return of the king.
In a few days I should receive Richelle Mead's the Golden Lily, I hope the shipping doesn't take too long. It's too bad it wasn't released a little earlier, since I just got back from London. :(
I think you can if you don't mind spoilers, of course there are references but that could be easily covered. How much of VA have you read? A main character from VA is going to be in Golden Lily.
after that i'll be reading kristin cashores books as i've been searching for the hardbacks of them all (with the matching covers) to match my hardback of bitterblue i bought the other day.
Amy/Harley forever tbh
and after eight months, I picked up Inheritance again, right in the middle of the story.

Anyway, I have a pdf of this book. I'm not a huge fantasy person but I think I'll give it a go.
Cat's Eye
Louis XIV, Antonia Fraser
and A Clash of Kings. Because I got greedy and wanted to start everything at once.
And I'm also reading Clash of Kings too. I read up to halfway through Storm of Swords a few years ago before exams got in the way so I've re-started the series
