No Doubt reveal title for first album in over a decade

No Doubt seemed to have finally opened the creepy stalker letters I’ve been sending them using cut out magazine letters and answered my prayers for new music. The Orange Country rockers have been updating fans for the past year on their recording sessions and now have released a name for their upcoming record.

Push and Shove will be the first No Doubt album in over a decade, following 2001′s Rock Steady. While the band originally planned to release new music in 2009, Push And Shove was pushed and shelved for three years, following what lead singer Gwen Stefani explains as ‘life getting in the way’.

The disc is set to be released on September 25 and No Doubt is already filming the album’s first music video later this week, working with director and long time collaborator Sophie Muller. No stranger to the band, Muller has been behind the camera for some of No Doubt’s biggest hits, including Don’t Speak, Excuse Me Mr., Sunday Morning, Hey You, Simple Kind of Life, Bathwater and Underneath It All. The video for Settle Down will be released on July 16.

Holy shit, me too

In fact I was old enough to listen to it in comparison to Return of Saturn/Tragic Kingdom and be disappointed in it

Absolutely. Pretty much when I really started disliking them/Gwen.

I didn't get straight-up mad until she started saying she was from Harajuku and having those Asian girls follow her around ~like little China doll geishas~

I hated her solo stuff SO MUCH. And she acted so bizarre throughout all of it. Ugh.

huh? she didn't say she was from Harajuku. is Harajuku even a place?
__restless 13th-Jun-2012 04:41 pm (UTC)
well i wasn't sure if it as a place, that's why i asked if it even was a place. my point was really that she never said she was from there.

It's still pretty messed up that this stranger woman from Anaheim co-opted and misinterpreted a culture that she has nothing to do with, especially considering 1) how problematic the way she had ~subservient Asian China doll geisha gurlz lol~ following her around 2) that ignorant people like Beverly Hills 90210 characters now think it's something that she made up

yeah, i agree with you in that sense. but i don't think she meant it in a harmful way, i think she tried to celebrate that culture. i don't really feel that she misinterpreted it, but i don't know much about it.

I grew up not 15 minutes away from the Meiji Jingu bridge where all the goth girls hang out, so it is near and dear to my heart

Plus the way Gwen's presentation of "Harajuku style" looks all sloppy, so unlike the very detail-oriented, overdone and serious cosplay style of gothloli and other Harajuku subcultures

i can totally see why you feel that way then :) it kinda makes me feel sad that she didn't get it right, haha. oh well.

oooh so true. I used to not think much of Rocksteady, that it couldn't even hold a candle to the other albums, but enough time has passed for me to not mind it that much lol.
