Wonder Woman Movie Moving Forward With Green Lantern Screenwriter

Buried, somewhat, beneath the noisy buzz surrounding news that Warner Bros. plans to move forward with a Justice League movie is the news item that a script is being commissioned for a Wonder Woman film, with a Green Lantern scribe hard at work and trying to deliver in a timely fashion.

That makes sense. Of the League’s “Big Three” (Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman), only Diana of Themyscira has yet to receive a proper big-screen adaptation. Now it sounds like it’s closer than we might have thought. Variety, in reporting on the JLA movie, says that Green Lantern co-writer Michael Goldenberg has been hired to write a Wonder Woman script. And that’s all we’re told. No mention on when he was hired, or when it’s supposed to be delivered. But with news that Justice League is moving forward, and plans to reboot Superman (with Man of Steel) and possibly bring Green Lantern back for a sequel, it appears that the DC Comics universe isn’t as far behind Marvel as we assume.

In the same story, Variety says that Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green are hard at work on a Flash screenplay for Greg Berlanti to possibly direct. And while Christopher Nolan is bringing his Batman trilogy to a close, wouldn’t it be amazing if he and Christian Bale took a victory lap through comic-book fandom by bringing their Dark Knight to the Justice League movie, with Nolan directing?

OK, that might be too much to hope for. But in the wake of The Avengers lighting up the box-office charts, Warner had to make a move, and it seems like they are moving their pieces around. We might see a Wonder Woman movie in theaters in the next few years. At the very least, it’s encouraging to hear that a script is in the works. Let’s see how it plays out.

No....this can't be true. It just can't be. Instead of choosing a screenwriter that can actually write stuff...you choose....the guy who wrote the flop GL film? This won't end well, as the only women allowed to play her are, of course, Susan Eisenberg and Lynda Carter. No exceptions (well, Keri Russell gets a pass, she was okay)

And if this comes to fruition, if there is a God, please DO NOT cast Anne Hathaway.

You know damn well they are not going to have enough sense to do that.

It's gonna be someone like Olivia Wilde or something.

If they are just going to go for hot tits for the role, I'd rather have Megan Fox play her.
professor_chaos 11th-Jun-2012 09:17 pm (UTC)
preferably a nobody w/talent although the choice of writers isn't helping much

For a long time my dream casting was Monica Bellucci, but even though she's still the most beautiful woman on earth, they probably think she's to old.

Wouldn't mind Gina Carano, at least she would be believable in the fights.

lol well she's already catwoman so they wouldn't do that, i don't think. you usually stick to one character.

Ryan Reynolds is The Deadpool and Green Lantern.

Chris Evans is Johnny Storm and Captain America.
