TITANIC will also be available for the first time ever for digital download.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the roles that would make them global stars, TITANIC tells the story of the epic romance between two star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the legendary and ill-fated maiden voyage of the "ship of dreams."

First in line.  I can't wait to see this flawless masterpiece in HD.

The Norwegian girl, Helga Dahl (Camilla Overbye Roos), with whom Fabrizio was dancing in the third-class dance. I think there was some dialogue about setting her up with Jack. She was supposed to be Fabrizio's love interest, but all her other scenes were cut from the movie. They are included in the Special Edition DVDs.

Basically she last appears clinging onto a handle below Rose and Jack (after the boat turns upward), and as Rose looks on, she loses her grip and falls to her death.

I hadn't seen the film since I was quite young, so this scene took me aback when I saw it in the theatre for the 3D re-release! It's sooo obvious that it's their stunt doubles, dear lord. It looks kind of freaky actually because you suddenly have some random impostors running at you.

I'd pretty much never leave my room if I bought this aka I can't wait!!
julietislimited 3rd-Jun-2012 03:50 am (UTC)
The only couple I cared about in the movie was the older couple in bed holding each other as the water was rising. True OTP of the film.
josiefier 3rd-Jun-2012 03:53 am (UTC)
Omg, and the fact that they're the ones shown in basically every version. Heartbreaking, but beautiful.

Isador and Ida Strauss. I get chills when I think about how she said, "We have been living together for 40 years. Where you go, I go."

That part totally depressed me and yet I loved it. I bawled for so long over that... although it was partially because I wanted to believe that I would actually have that kind of love/marriage with my husband. I only ever saw the movie once but that scene is etched in my brain forever.
lonely_goatherd 3rd-Jun-2012 05:25 am (UTC)
omgod, this scene is the only one that's brought me close to crying at this movie. so heartbreaking

Titanic producer Jon Landau showed DiCaprio footage late last year and, by all accounts, the actor was knocked out, all over again, by his leading lady. ‘He watched the scene where Kate arrives at the dock and steps out the car and he said to me: “She’s so beautiful,” ’ Landau told me.

angelbaby63249 3rd-Jun-2012 02:00 pm (UTC)
yeah, had Jack survived, that's how their marriage would have been.

I can't watch that movie ever again, I saw it right after I had postponed my wedding to my now-husband because I was getting super cold feet, and it was like, "Oh HALE NO is this what marriage is like?!???! That's what I was worried about!!!!"

/csb.

jasmina12345 3rd-Jun-2012 03:54 am (UTC)
I saw it in 3D and was pressed that it was barely 3D tbh

capsfanx10 3rd-Jun-2012 03:55 am (UTC)
Yeah, same. The only interesting 3D part was the beginning when they were underwater.
josiefier 3rd-Jun-2012 03:57 am (UTC)
Yeah, exactly. I expected better. I liked the underwater bits and when those doors first opened and such, but other than that it felt no different than 2D.
twowaymirrrors 3rd-Jun-2012 03:59 am (UTC)
Same, although I did like the fact that it did not give me a headache.
onyxobsidian 3rd-Jun-2012 04:52 am (UTC)
I had to take my glasses off sometimes to figure out if there was anything actually in 3D. The only things that looked fuzzy (ya know, 3D) was sometimes there was a pole in the way foreground that gave it some depth.
starswept 3rd-Jun-2012 05:30 am (UTC)
Yeah, it really wasn't worthwhile converting it to 3D, imo (then again I hate 3D). The only time I noticed the 3D was during the sinking scenes, and some of those shots were making my stomach turn for some reason, so I had to avert my eyes a few times. But I went because I wanted to see the movie again on the big screen, not for the 3D, so thankfully I wasn't disappointed.
polaroidmoment 3rd-Jun-2012 12:17 pm (UTC)
I really liked the 3d they used because it made everything seem so much... Fuller? I dunno, it was like they were standing right there beside you. I don't need stuff jumping out at me every two seconds, lol. Any scene where water comes rushing in towards the camera made me look away too, it seemed so real.
josiefier 3rd-Jun-2012 03:55 am (UTC)
Seeing the re-release of this made me realize what a Tommy fangirl I am.

Spoiler Alert

The ship sinks. Jack drowns and Rose lives to a ripe, old, age without him. Meh.
manicpixiegirl 3rd-Jun-2012 04:05 am (UTC)
before i first watched the movie my mom told me that both jack and rose die, so i was pretty disappointed that rose lived lol
sirenlyfox 3rd-Jun-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
I think that was your mother's way of warning you off Titanic.
twizzler_11 3rd-Jun-2012 07:46 am (UTC)
When I first went to see the movie, I was like 6 or 7 and my friends and I fell asleep halfway through and woke up just in time for the ending. The mom that took us didn't want to break our hearts, so she just told us they both lived. Color me shocked when I watched it when I was 15 and Jack died!! I definitely cried.
