One Million Moms retaliates against JCPenney's Dads ad, tries to cover up their attack on DC Comics

J.C. Penney's Father's Day advertisement that features a same-sex couple consisting of two fathers playing with two children, (seen in this post) has outraged the American Family Association's One Million Moms who feel the company is "promoting sin."

And here we goCollapse )

I'm dying at "Glad my sons are grown and don't read comics anymore"

I'm texting my old as shit brother right now and he's all "Funny, I was just reading a comic book." Bro has Archie tattoos, he don't give a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Gotta tell his lady friend to watch out, the gays are gonna get him in those comic books of his.

*Just remembered* I bought that stupid jerk a Green Lantern t-shirt for his birthday last year.

True story, I've started shopping there more because of their progressive stances. It doesn't hurt that they have super cute dresses.
georgie_georgie 1st-Jun-2012 09:11 pm (UTC)
I have the june catalog in my hands and I don't see this ad.
Damn, JCP stepped up their ad game. The pics and the models all look awesome.

I had a work acquaintance who "liked" OMM, I immediately defriended her and keep my distance from her at work.

if they want to blame fictional characters for making children gay, they should really start with God.

Why do people get so worked up over things that do not even concern them? Gay couples exist, and will continue to exist regardless of their tasteless little tirades. Was this how people acted back in the day before multi-race couples were more widely accepted? SMH.

On another note, I don't read comics nor have I seen the green lantern movie, so I know literally nothing about the Green Lantern. But I had no idea he was supposed to be gay. Was it actually kind of implied, or was it something super subtle you'd probably never pick up on, like Dumbledore?
megisthesex 1st-Jun-2012 09:17 pm (UTC)
haha your comment kinda reminds me of this

squishinator 1st-Jun-2012 09:22 pm (UTC)
lmao, ikr? its so annoying. there are so many BIGGER issues in the world that might actually effect them and their children, yet they focus on that? they are going to feel so shitty when their kids come out gay, and their kids are going to feel so shitty as well bc they will live in fear if their parents find out. I hate people. Fucking worry about your kids turning into woman beaters, serial killers, rapists, robbers, etc instead of being gay or being exposed to ~the gays~
squalor 1st-Jun-2012 11:35 pm (UTC)
DC rebooted alllllllllll of their comics so when they did that they made this particular green lantern (there's more than one) be gay. he wasn't gay in the previous comics that DC had published, however he did have a gay son.
ohsofierce_x3 1st-Jun-2012 09:13 pm (UTC)
I hate homophobic and racist people.

They make me irrationally upset.
so_chic_doll 1st-Jun-2012 09:14 pm (UTC)
I can't imagine harboring that much hate around.

It's gotta be exhausting.
ohsofierce_x3 1st-Jun-2012 09:16 pm (UTC)
It will never make sense to me how anyone could be so completely and deliberately unkind to another person.
orangeandblack 1st-Jun-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
I started crying while watching "What Would You Do" the other week. there was this CRAZY OLD RACIST LADY and she was going off about how you shouldn't marry out of your race. It was so sickening to see play out in 'real time'.

They had a couple homophobes on that show before but nothing as disgusting as that little old bitter cunt.
diamond_dust06 1st-Jun-2012 09:45 pm (UTC)
It's not irrational, bb.

theantipoet 1st-Jun-2012 09:13 pm (UTC)
but, re: Green Lantern... who refers to their partner as "love" in conversation?
poop_of_death 1st-Jun-2012 09:16 pm (UTC)
You'd be surprised. Some corny motherfuckers out there.
ladyserenity84 1st-Jun-2012 09:54 pm (UTC)
It's an elder term of endearment, though I've seen people of different age groups use it. I actually saw a elder couple about a month or two ago and heard them calling each other "love" in a restaurant and thought it was incredibly cute. I just think it depends on who you are and the kind of relationship you're in.
jei_corsair 1st-Jun-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
Haha. I'll use love/lover on occasion, but normally only when I'm texting my husband. Definitely not in front of other people. :)
age_of_green 1st-Jun-2012 11:29 pm (UTC)
I've only heard it on British TV, so maybe it's a regional thing?
latexana 1st-Jun-2012 09:19 pm (UTC)
what green lantern? the really old-school, sja one?
snapiphany 1st-Jun-2012 09:21 pm (UTC)
The JSA's Alan Scott.

One Million Moms AKA about 10 prejudiced and ignorant women who have nothing better to do and probably don't even have kids.
pinkcelebrities 1st-Jun-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
That picture is adorable! I love it.

I will never ever ever understand the fascination people have with shit that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. Not enough people were raised with the "live and let live" mentality.
snapiphany 1st-Jun-2012 09:21 pm (UTC)
Like herpes, they just keep coming back.
