Jessica Simpson: I'm "So Excited" About $4 Million Weight Watchers Deal

Weigh to go, Jessica Simpson!

In November 2011, Us Weekly exclusively reported that Simpson was negotiating a $4 million deal to get her pre-baby body back, and now she's finally confirmed the news via Twitter. "So excited to be part of the Weight Watchers family," Simpson, 31, shared Wednesday.

The 5-foot-3 star is hoping to lose her baby weight within the year, according to sources close to the new mom. "As soon as Jessica heals from the C-section, she is extremely determined to get back in the gym and work out," said one confidant. "She wants to show the world and is excited to do it."

Simpson -- mom to Maxwell Drew, 4 weeks, with fiance Eric Johnson, 32 -- "hasn't chosen a trainer yet," a pal said. "In fact, she hasn't even thought about working out for a year. But if she wants this, she'll need to work out a good five days a week."

Possible trainers: Danny Musico, who works with Johnson, and pal Mike Alexander, who helped Simpson reach her sculpted size-2 Daisy Duke glory in 2005 with four months of grueling two-hour sessions six days a week.

Gaining too much weight while pregnant is linked--strongly--to health problems in the child. This is a sad story.
fabouluz 30th-May-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
True

Diabetes, too. It's horrible.

As a clinical psychology student, the name Jenny McCarthy fills me with RAGE. It's practically synonymous with raging imbecile in most all psych circles now.
bellwetherr 30th-May-2012 08:34 pm (UTC)
I actually don't think she gained as much as we all think. She's 5'3" and even ten pounds on that frame would look like a lot.
flaca 30th-May-2012 08:48 pm (UTC)
it was mostly water tho

she had polyhydramnios, an excess of amniotic fluid
reginageorge 30th-May-2012 07:45 pm (UTC)

Wow, we're at the point where there's speculation of who will train the stars to get back their body post-baby. Cool!

she's just made another human freaking being, but please yes lets just boil her down to the sum of her parts because there's nothing more important then being sexy
shegotaflavor 30th-May-2012 08:38 pm (UTC)
ugh, i'm glad people like you exist among the sea of vultures on here that are more concerned about how she looks. i'll never understand the immense hate this woman gets.

THANK YOU
magli 30th-May-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
There is so much money in the dieting industry it makes my head spin.
ludagurl3d 30th-May-2012 07:55 pm (UTC)
oh it will. dieting only makes people fatter in the long run.
magli 30th-May-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
Sometimes I just wanna be all I JUST WISH WE COULD ALL GET ALONG LIKE WE USED TO IN MIDDLE SCHOOL I WISH THAT I COULD BAKE A CAKE MADE OUT OF RAINBOWS AND SMILES AND WE'D ALL EAT AND BE HAPPY.

And then I go shopping for slimming jeans and go to the gym.
ludagurl3d 30th-May-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
yup, and people are still fatter than ever.
hannahgrace456 30th-May-2012 08:15 pm (UTC)
It's upsetting because I feel like the majority of people are never going to get healthy because health and diet is a multi-billion dollar industry. The heads of it will never really give people what they need and they have to keep coming back, spending more money and further destroying their health.
xtinkerbellax 30th-May-2012 08:19 pm (UTC)
Yep, and it's all bullshit, diets don't work because people don't change their eating habits long term. You can't diet and then go back to eating fast food 3-4 times a week.
khloekardashian 30th-May-2012 08:37 pm (UTC)
my mom is on the dr.b diet right now. 150$ a week, but it works!
actrisse 30th-May-2012 07:49 pm (UTC)
Eh. Ok. I'm on Weight Watchers now. Hit a plateau after losing 12 pounds but I really love the program. I don't think I could ever go back to eating the way I did before it. It really is a lifestyle change
claudsx 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
Same! I've lost 24, but these past few weeks have been like two steps forward, one step back. The weekends ruin me tbh.

IA, huge lifestyle change.
magli 30th-May-2012 07:57 pm (UTC)
The solution to this is the one day weekend.
cutelca 30th-May-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
What exactly do they (Weight watchers) do? Do you have to mee with them on a regular basis?

Do you have some sort of mentor?

Excuse my ignorance, but in my country there isn't a group like WW.
theotherqueen 30th-May-2012 08:22 pm (UTC)
I was super gung ho about it in January and lost 17 lbs but I got too poor to continue and now I've probably gained 5 of that back. Sucks.
tanya1976 30th-May-2012 10:42 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'm an emotional eater and even at 125 lbs., I still have to check myself. It's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Remember that and you'll succeed in the long run.

Good luck and Congrats!
ellie_andrews 31st-May-2012 09:12 pm (UTC)
Late but I lost 13 lbs and I've been at a plateau too for 3 weeks. :\

But I just quit Weight Watchers this week because I found myfitnesspal.com which is essentially the same thing but free. :P
iluvdykes 1st-Jun-2012 08:45 am (UTC)
I definitely agree about the program and the plateau.
craww 30th-May-2012 07:50 pm (UTC)
Do celebrity endorsements actually inspire people to purchase a program? Everyone knows it's BS. Best case scenario, they're following the program...with the help of a personal trainer. Worst case scenario, they're not even legitimately following the program they're advertising. (I still don't for a second believe Janet Jackson is eating Nutrisystem food, come on.)
t3pps 30th-May-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
Lbr, The celebs have trainers and plastic surgeons on speed dial lol.
Like you said, I don't believe they're following the plans verbatim for a second, but it must work to get new customers for these companies to keep hiring the celebs.
craww 30th-May-2012 08:05 pm (UTC)
I feel like they just think it works, when it's actually simple repetition that's getting people. They pay a lot for a celebrity, then they pay a lot to run their advertisements constantly, and then people sign up. There'll always be people that celebrity works on, but I think it has more to do with how aggressive the advertisement is and how much it consequently sinks into our subconscious.

Then again, that's probably overly simplified and they know what they're doing and the celebrity aspect actually is really important. It's just that I've never met a dieter who said anything but the opposite.
linnetbird 30th-May-2012 08:14 pm (UTC)
it's total bullshit. I actually got hired to be a spokesperson for a diet product (lol at my life) because I'm like a struggling singer/whatever and I also subscribe to like, modeling alerts or wtv and they had this alert to like "lose weight and get paid for it!" and i'm a chubster, so I decided to try it, and I got hired.

I won't say what product it was because it was in my contract not to say lol but basically you have a trainer/nutritionist up your ass and you have to talk to them constantly, you're on an extremely strict high protein diet with tons of working out/weight lifting, and if you don't lose enough weight you get threatened to get fired.

That was a while ago, I did end up losing a lot of weight but then I gained it back :( so I'm a chubber again. but it was still an interesting experience
efaulkner 30th-May-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
at least jan is donating the money to charity
juryrig 30th-May-2012 07:50 pm (UTC)
WW is crap. But good for her getting that money doing something she was going to "have" to do anyway, I guess.
actrisse 30th-May-2012 07:52 pm (UTC)
Why is it crap? It's helped me lose weight. I love the program.
juryrig 30th-May-2012 07:57 pm (UTC)
idk, I guess it works if you're (the participant, not you specifically) someone who has trouble making "good" decisions or who is overwhelmed by calorie counting or whatever. But their new PP program offering fruits and vegetables as zero points+ is a huge negative unless properly explained, since one can certainly consume half a day's-worth of calories just in fruit. They also heavily overcalculate points+ on items that, while certainly less desirable to consume on a diet than other items, are not actually that calorically damaging. Pretty much anything with carbs will cost you dearly - which makes sense if you're someone who used to eat three servings of pasta in a meal, but not if you find yourself nitpicking slices of bread to make a sandwich.

I do know a lot of people who have lost weight on the old program, but I haven't heard much good from the new program and when I tried it, my weight didn't budge even though I was fanatical about counting everything I ate and kept on the program for three or four months. I have better luck with pure calorie counting and a food scale.
ahestele 30th-May-2012 08:32 pm (UTC)
It's helped, me, too. Not all programs work for everyone. I found the PP Program easy to follow, personally. It helped me with portion control, which was my big issue.

redsprings 30th-May-2012 07:51 pm (UTC)
Still can't believe she wasn't carrying twins.
treegrowth 30th-May-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
me too! she was as big as my cousin (who just gave birth to twins yesterday, both 7 pounders D: ) but i guess everyone's body carries babies/weight differently, or she had a huge baby lol. my brother was 11 pounds at birth, my poor mom is only 5 feet tall and looked HUGE.
godramaclub 30th-May-2012 10:20 pm (UTC)
Ugh FUUUUUUU your poor mother.

I'm frightened because my fiancé was that weight too and I'm quite small. I really hope giant babies aren't genetic.
paparatti 30th-May-2012 11:19 pm (UTC)
Wow. A+ to your cousin for carrying those twins to such good weights. That is a huge achievement.
skankattack 30th-May-2012 11:38 pm (UTC)
She was big before she got pregnant. People thought she was pregnant for most of 2011.
lowlighter 30th-May-2012 07:52 pm (UTC)
I really hate how there's this big push to see people lose baby weight (or hell, weight in general) SO quickly.
ohsofierce_x3 30th-May-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
MTE. Like, hello! You just gave birth to another human being. If you want to take a 5 from working out, girl, take your 5. Hell take 10.

Jesus.
julialonso 30th-May-2012 08:29 pm (UTC)
Me too.
sassi214 30th-May-2012 09:54 pm (UTC)

It's ruined me, tbh. I just had a baby in March and I lost all of the weight (25 pounds) by 2 weeks postpartum. I've been killing myself trying to lose even more because I don't think it's enough. I keep thinking of how Jessica Alba looked at four months postpartum and I'm like...ahh..that needs to be me! People always tell me that I don't even look like I had a baby (random strangers), but I feel like they're loony...lol.

Fucking media...I hate you.
helloneworld 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
well well well
ohkkrista 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
She's huge.
I watched an episode of Newlyweds the other day and can't believe she was only like 21 or whatever she was then. Crazy. Though, her Daisy Duke body was bangin.
xtinkerbellax 30th-May-2012 08:22 pm (UTC)
But she had to work so hard to get that body for Dukes, it wasn't natural, I'd put money on the fact that she was under eating and working out like a crazy person.
ilouboutin 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
eh. i'd rather watch j.hud commercials
dustyhearts 30th-May-2012 08:57 pm (UTC)
Maybe, but I'm freaked out by her singing with herself.
t3pps 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
I miss the old Jess. :(
wholly_cow 30th-May-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
I feel bad for her , b/c I'm sure she feels a TON of pressure to be real skinny again quick. That's not fair, man, give yourself time and fuck the haters.
