Kim K says luggage thieves stole some priceless sunglasses

Kim Kardashian says the British Airways employees who ransacked her luggage have stolen something that money cannot replace -- sunglasses that have a profound meaning.

When Kim arrived home from France Friday night, she noticed her luggage was significantly lighter than when she left. A search inside the suitcase quickly revealed the thieves made off with a pair of vintage sunglasses her dad, Robert Kardashian, gave her just before he died -- sunglasses she only wore on very special occasions.

And there's even more thievery. Kim is telling friends the baggage bandits made off with several extremely expensive purses and Tumi luggage.

Kim tweeted after the incident, writing, ""Very disappointed in British Airways for opening my luggage & taking some special items of mine! Some things are sentimental & not replaceable."

We're told Kim has already filed a report with the airline, demanding they produce surveillance catching the culprits in the act.

If the airline doesn't fork over the footage, we're told Kim's going to the cops.

I don't blame her for this
Her father gave them to her before he died
if someone stole something i loved from a passed away relative i would be really upset too

This. When I was at the airport a few years ago, someone stole my necklace that I'd been asked to take off when I went thru the scanner. It was my dad's ashes inside the pendant. I was sfpissed. I hope my dad is haunting their evil asses.
invitroblossoms 30th-May-2012 03:01 pm (UTC)
That's awful, I'm so sorry.
dropdeadpirate 30th-May-2012 04:24 pm (UTC)
Whoa. I'd be pissed too. That's beyond fucked up. I wish people weren't so stupid.
myblackass 30th-May-2012 06:18 pm (UTC)
Did the security camera catch anything?
berry_wish 1st-Jun-2012 03:39 am (UTC)
Late to the party, but that's awful bb. I worked at a jewelry store and this woman needed something fixed on her necklace but was real hesitant to let us keep it for more than an hour or two. So she eventually handed it to me and was like "please be careful, my moms ashes are in there." I cannot tell you how fucking nervous I was the whole time it was being repaired.
actxappalledx 30th-May-2012 03:55 pm (UTC)
Nope, I don't feel bad. She is not new to flying. She flies all over the country, hell the world, all the time. I haven't been on a plane for 10 yrs, but even I know that if something is valuable, you bring it in your carry on, you do not leave it in your luggage. Sucks that it happened, but if it meant that much to her, she would have brought it with her on the flight and not put it in her checked in luggage.
microgrooves 30th-May-2012 04:24 pm (UTC)
My mom died a few years ago, and I kept a lot of her stuff with me when I moved for college. After severely butting heads over rent with an old roommate while moving out, locks were changed to keep me out and she kept some of my stuff (a lot being my mother's) to sell some and throw the rest away. There was family photographs, clothes, family mementos, etc. Some people are fucking crazy and heartless..
expromqueen 30th-May-2012 02:50 pm (UTC)
probably the same reason she wore her bazillion dollar earrings in the ocean lol

fight4thislove 30th-May-2012 03:28 pm (UTC)
well in her defense she wasn't in the water before kris threw her in. they had just arrived, they went and looked at the whole villa and Kris just picked her up and threw her in
xtinkerbellax 30th-May-2012 02:52 pm (UTC)
IA, and as someone who travels a lot you'd think she'd know this. I have a hard time feeling bad for stupidity.
astralwish 30th-May-2012 03:08 pm (UTC)
mte.
_folieadeux 30th-May-2012 04:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah IA. I would never travel with anything that valuable, period. Personally. But I always make sure super impt stuff is in carry on at least.
sweet_honesty 30th-May-2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
I agree 100%. Especially with sunglasses because of TSA searches your bags, they don't always get put back in the same place and have the potential to get broken.
forevergold217 30th-May-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
it's not necessarily true. a friend of mine was moving to a different country and she had a small suitcase where she kept her gold jewelry. she kept that thing with her and her gold still got stolen
mortoeroe 31st-May-2012 12:01 am (UTC)
i mean, yeah that's true but the airline should still be accountable if their whack ass employees are fucking thefts. i shouldn't have to worry about their people not getting punished & continuing to steal my stuff if i choose to put something in my luggage that can't go in my carry on.
gjee 31st-May-2012 10:11 am (UTC)
i think she just has too many expensive things tbh. she dresses up for the paparazzi so i'm sure she takes multiple designer bags, shoes, etc and couldn't fit it all in her carryall. i think she should have kept the glasses ON her but still, employees shouldn't be keeping items for themselves

What cost $25,000?
hippie_chick 30th-May-2012 02:46 pm (UTC)
Can't say as I don't blame her. Theft is theft. Though with the sunglasses, that's awful, but since it was such a special pair she probably should have thought about carrying them on her instead of putting them in her checked luggage.
dandyxwarhol 30th-May-2012 02:47 pm (UTC)
Airlines do this shit constantly, they really do need to watch their employees in some way when it comes to this.
beezerwub 30th-May-2012 03:21 pm (UTC)
it's actually very rare for an airline employee to steal anything from checked luggage. probably due to the fact that baggage is usually locked. TSA are the ones that have luggage open.
dandyxwarhol 30th-May-2012 03:22 pm (UTC)
This is not true in my experience. I've had things missing from my luggage twice. I do not check luggage now for this fact alone.
enid_keaner 30th-May-2012 03:28 pm (UTC)
I have only had something stolen from my luggage 1 time, and to be honest, I think it fell out because I didn't close it all the way and there was no TSA form.

I travel all the time and I've never had anything else happen. I'm assuming that, going by the amount of luggage that's handled, it's probably rare in general.
politic_ennui 31st-May-2012 07:38 pm (UTC)
When I travelled, and mentioned that the person with me forgot to put a lock on there suitcase [it was on the scale, still] - the attendant was all, "What do you have in there, the crown jewels? Nothing is going to happen."
myxwill 30th-May-2012 02:50 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprised.
lillylilacs 30th-May-2012 02:51 pm (UTC)
That is sad for her tbh, I have rings that are my grandmothers and I don't know what I would do if I lost them. But I would never pack them with my checked luggage, anything that is irreplaceable always is in my carry-on.
passions_voice 30th-May-2012 04:32 pm (UTC)
I have a ring that I got after my grandma died. I wear it 99.9% of the time and I didn't like having to take it off when I flew last year, and I have to fly again this summer. There is no way in hell I would pack it.
okmewriting 30th-May-2012 02:51 pm (UTC)
Why would BA have footage? Do they own the airports they operate at? She needs to contact the airport operators. In any case I think she'll need a court order to release that kind of footage.
ellaellaeheheh 30th-May-2012 02:53 pm (UTC)
this is awful. and I know people that had stuff stolen from their luggage. and not even eletronics. just make up and even clothes.

with brazilians travelling to miami/buenos aires to buy so much stuff lately its grown to be a common problem. they even arrested people.

idg everyone in the last post saying what a dumb ho she is for doing this. for better or worse you should be able to pack things in your luggage and not have them get stolen. just cos it's kim kardashian doesn't make it her fault.
anus 30th-May-2012 03:00 pm (UTC)
True, we SHOULDN'T have to worry about things being stolen, but sadly the truth is that it does happen and quite frequently, which is why it's hard give her any sympathy.
albeit_ 30th-May-2012 03:03 pm (UTC)
well good luck 2 you in life if you find it hard to have sympathy for someone who had a priceless object stolen.
linkinparklova1 30th-May-2012 03:14 pm (UTC)
Where does it happen all of time? I travel all of the time and nothing has ever been stolen. I've also never heard of stories about airline workers stealing stuff from luggage, it doesn't happen often because if it did all of those airlines would get sued for theft.
enid_keaner 30th-May-2012 03:21 pm (UTC)
I do feel badly for her.

I just don't understand why she packed it in her luggage. I thought it was pretty well known and understood that anything that's extremely valuable, you carry on. People steal, things get broken, whole pieces of luggage get lost, things fall out.

I've only ever had one thing stolen and nothing ever damaged and I travel quite frequently, but I'll never travel with anything expensive or valuable in my checked bag just because you ever know what can happen.

I bought some Burberry shoes in Berlin. When I flew back home, I wore the shoes on the plane, and put the box in my luggage and filled it with the chocolate I was bringing home. I could stand to those the chocolate, but not the shoes.
xtinkerbellax 30th-May-2012 03:27 pm (UTC)
You should be able to do a lot of things when it reality that is not the way it works. I feel bad for her because it sucks to have something stolen but you can never control anyone else's actions unfortunately, the only thing you can do is take the proper precautions.
originaru 30th-May-2012 04:12 pm (UTC)
yep, i've never heard of things being stolen from luggage when i travel and my family flies at least once or twice every two years.

my parents are always more concerned with hotel staff taking shit then airline employees lol.
lumosofmylife 30th-May-2012 02:56 pm (UTC)
I mean.. That sucks, but if those glasses were sooo special why wouldn't you keep them in your carry on?
vonlisbon 30th-May-2012 02:57 pm (UTC)
Man, if I have anything that important to me, I just put it in my purse/carry-on.
anus 30th-May-2012 02:57 pm (UTC)
Common sense, honey. You put all valuables in your carryon.
octoberstarlite 30th-May-2012 02:57 pm (UTC)
Why is she so sure BA stole her glasses? I'm not even sure how they got out if they were in her suitcase. I know some people were saying in the states you have to have those special locks or no locks but in Britain you can have whatever lock you want and that's where she was flying from so I would assume BA didn't go rooting in it. Probably airport staff. Although tbh, I haven't got abroad in years so it could be different now.

okmewriting 30th-May-2012 03:20 pm (UTC)
Could have been someone at any of the airports she passed through tbh. Just because you fly an airline does not mean that they are the ones handling your bags in the airport(s). In the US you have the added problem of TSA thieves.
sweet_honesty 30th-May-2012 07:03 pm (UTC)
My guess is it was probably TSA
octoberstarlite 30th-May-2012 07:26 pm (UTC)
I don't know what TSA is. It's not something I've come across. I'm not sure we have it in Europe because I've been to the continent a few times in the last few years and haven't come across this and always locked by cases with normal little suitcase padlocks but I haven't been to the states since I was 11. I'm going in August though and generally want to know wtf all this is about so I know what I'm supposed to do with my cases.
ciara_belle 31st-May-2012 06:31 pm (UTC)
If you're flying TO the States, though, your bags are going to be screened by the TSA, which is the Transportation Security Administration.

Most Americans I know do not lock their suitcases anymore (not that most luggage locks are super sturdy anyway). The TSA is allowed to break open any lock in order to check your luggage. You can get "TSA approved" locks that they have keys to, but the last time I used them the TSA just kept my locks. I haven't locked my suitcase in years. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't lock them just because that's what a lot of Americans have gotten used to.
