I was just thinking today of where I would want to move when I win the lottery.
-Key West
-buy my own island(somewhere)
-Belize
-make my own island
trikc 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
man made islands erode easily.

Wont you get lonely?
trinity_squared 26th-May-2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
Thats the point :D
squishinator 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
IDK where I'd want to move but I decided if i ever win the lottery I'm getting a pet sloth.
anus 26th-May-2012 11:54 pm (UTC)
I'd move to Barcelona and never leave
enid_keaner 26th-May-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
I'd buy a place in NYC's Lower East Side
ellyrianna 27th-May-2012 12:02 am (UTC)
When I'm young and also when I'm youngly married I want to live in NYC.

I want to retire to Quebec City tho.
ladysherlock 27th-May-2012 12:32 am (UTC)
I want to move to London TODAY.

I'm tired of Canada.
evett 27th-May-2012 12:34 am (UTC)
Key West always get hit hard by hurricanes so I wouldn't bother.
shortliljackers 27th-May-2012 01:02 am (UTC)
i want a house in scotland and a house in new zealand.

and i guess a nice old house here in central ohio, which sounds boring, but it's home.
londonsquare 27th-May-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
I would buy a nice house in Venice Beach or Santa Monica and keep a yacht in the nearby harbor for the pending zombie apocalypse.

And a house in one of the mews in South Kensington in London.
virgincantdrive 27th-May-2012 05:53 am (UTC)
bleh I hated Key West.
blondelilly 27th-May-2012 10:12 am (UTC)
If I had more money than I could ever spend, I'd buy a nice old house in the English countryside.
crucified 26th-May-2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
ugh, jealous of them.
yeats 26th-May-2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
always makes me anxious when young stars get their first big paycheck and buy a mansion -- like, what about planning for the future?
polaroidmoment 26th-May-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
IA. This was all I was thinking when Josh Hutchersons house came up.
squishinator 26th-May-2012 11:57 pm (UTC)
But 2.5 mil isn't that outrageous, a lot of really mediocre houses in LA go for like a million and they are pretty crappy and small. He's been acting for a long time too he's probably had money for a while.
chimbleysweep 26th-May-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
Seriously.
delicious_pocky 27th-May-2012 12:12 am (UTC)
2.5 mio isn't really much AT ALL for the amount of money he'll make out of the hunger game (and those royalties will keep on coming forever).

also, isn't propriety an investment?
soho 27th-May-2012 12:19 am (UTC)
IA. I'd get a nice, modest house. Like seriously how much house do you need at that age? I'd be so boring if I were famous looool tbh.
highflyer8 27th-May-2012 12:22 am (UTC)
He's not exactly broke or new to money though. He's been acting for 10 years.
snortingcoke 27th-May-2012 01:25 am (UTC)
he's been acting for years and his parents have money anyway so i'm sure he can drop 2.5 mill
polaroidmoment 26th-May-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
I love that blue room in Byron Allen and Jennifer Lucas' home.

A lot of these are pretty over the top but I would not pass up living there, lol. Speaking of great homes, Im watching Under the Tuscan Sun and I kind of want to be Diane Lane and also want her characters villa in Tuscany.
ellyrianna 27th-May-2012 12:04 am (UTC)
re: Under the Tuscan Sun. I guess her char. had a lot of money to be abel to just go off and buy that place? So unfair, that seems like such a great way to get out of a funk.
polaroidmoment 27th-May-2012 12:05 am (UTC)
They sort of mention that she doesn't have enough money but a pigeon poops on her ad the old lady selling it takes it as a sign from god that it's meant to be or something, lol. But all the rents afterwards? You're right, I have no idea how a struggling writer is supposed to be able to afford all that!
highd 27th-May-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
I don't know who these people are but they get kudos for the TARDIS colored dining room. We are redoing our basement in the fall and I already decided that the color scheme is going to be TARDIS inspired. Inside and out. Circa Dr. Who #10
vickyblueeyez 26th-May-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
These are really nice pics. It makes me think of the Sims. I like decorating and building houses more than playing the people.
judgmental 27th-May-2012 01:47 am (UTC)
same lol
trinity_squared 26th-May-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
oh do any of those 'outdoor' seating areas ever get soaked from errant rain and such? Or who thinks of things like this besides me?
chimbleysweep 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
I live in the PNW so that's all I think about. Wouldn't stop me from putting things outside buuuuuuuuuuuut.
truthieness 27th-May-2012 01:12 am (UTC)
I'm from Seattle and my family has always had a lot of chairs and stuff outside with cushions but everything has a cover and is usually covered from October-May tbh.
trikc 26th-May-2012 11:51 pm (UTC)
SoCal is actually a desert. It see's insanely low amounts of rain each year.
_folieadeux 26th-May-2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
ikr? I always think of this too.
normalchick 27th-May-2012 12:02 am (UTC)
it doesn't rain a lot of in southern california.
kerrigwen 27th-May-2012 05:07 am (UTC)
My brother lives in a fancy condo in a downtown area (near the Great Lakes, so we do get our fair share of rain) - his building has a super-posh outdoor patio area on the 8th floor though, and all the seating/cushions are soft cloth-like, but completely waterproof or something. He said they don't get damaged by sun or water.

so... I'm guessing there's some kind of fabric invented (or natural? who knows) that can take care of these worries for us. :)
sanditar 26th-May-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
great and i'm broke without a job.
have fun in your big houses.
georgie_georgie 26th-May-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
omg these houses are all gorgeous.
pantspolice 26th-May-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
I want Goldie's house :((((
crump 29th-May-2012 12:24 pm (UTC)
I don't like the way they've decorated it but I would kill for that location.
ty_slilreject 26th-May-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
What do people do with so much space? Yeesh.
wickedchild_md 26th-May-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
Use their entourage to fill it up.
schexyschteve 27th-May-2012 01:27 am (UTC)
Seriously. I guess since they're famous and probably have lots of friends, throw fab dinner parties, but...
squishinator 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
I only really like Josh's. The others are just TOO MUCH. Why would you EVER need a house that big? You've never going to use all those rooms. I spend 90% of my time only in my living room anyways, FFS.
kerrigwen 27th-May-2012 05:10 am (UTC)
Depends, if you have family and friends staying over. I would LOVE love love for my parents to have a big ass house that all us siblings could come crash in when we feel like, and the grandkids too, and have like, fun dinner parties and weddings and what not etc. (we have a huuuuuge family btw).

but the first part of your comment - I feel like all the houses are ugly! :-x The only one I feel could happily be mine, is Billy Joel's house - but that's in Miami, and I'd never live there, so.
soho 27th-May-2012 12:21 am (UTC)
Yeah, most of them are over-done and tacky tbh.
musicpsych 27th-May-2012 04:04 am (UTC)
I agree. I like Ellen and Portia's, but no one else's.
sastra_fuss 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
those houses don't look cozy or lived in. i'd have a huge messy mansion somewhere
trikc 26th-May-2012 11:54 pm (UTC)
well when they put them up for sale the have pros clean them spot less and remove clutter. Plus, in many cases (like Celine) this is one of many homes and may not even be lived in much.
affliction 26th-May-2012 11:57 pm (UTC)
ikr she owns that one but lives in her house in florida or lv most of the time

u g h

give the mansion to me celine, i promise you won't even know i'm there because you wont find me!
lillyluna 27th-May-2012 12:05 am (UTC)
Celine never lives there, she's in Las Vegas pretty much all year. I think her other brothers and sisters might use it, but I don't think she's been there in years.
jonesingjay 27th-May-2012 12:03 am (UTC)
ellen's house looks like a hotel.
rubyboots 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
I hate all of them tbh, I hate huge houses, lots of marble and pillars, big long sofas and staircases and I hate houses that look like museums or houses you have to pay to look around

Give me something small, cozy and comfy with some character please
yousaidlog 27th-May-2012 12:08 am (UTC)
ITA. Altho I do like staircases, as long as they're not tacky.
soho 27th-May-2012 12:22 am (UTC)
Agreed. I love old houses tbh. Big mansions like these are so ugly.
schexyschteve 27th-May-2012 01:28 am (UTC)
YES! I need an old home (like 1920s Craftsman or a cute little 1940s/50s bungalow) with lots of character.
kerrigwen 27th-May-2012 05:16 am (UTC)
YES.

The only home on the list that I feel I could be happy in, was Billy Joel's - but it's in Miami so no.

I would love a small cozy flat with character. I've had my dream flat in my head for a long, lonnng time. Sometimes I feel like going into real estate just so I can find it.
polaroidmoment 26th-May-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
Also, woah. Just took a closed look at Billy Joel's house.. That outdoor covered seating area on the water looks like where I want to spend my entire summer.
