It's Official: Headline News Channel to air Daytime Emmy Awards!
IT'S SOAP NEWS FRIDAY!!!
It's Official: Headline News Channel to air Daytime Emmy Awards!
With barely a month to go before the June 23 Daytime Emmy Awards, HLN has finalized a deal to air the annual awards show.
The 39th edition of the Emmys was left without a TV home when CBS, which aired the show the previous two years, declined to make room on its schedule for the telecast.
Other broadcast networks declined to pick up the Daytime Emmys, which have struggled to stay relevant in the face of declining ratings and outright cancellation of once mighty daytime soap operas.
This marks the first time the ceremony will air on cable. This year’s telecast will be produced by Gabriel Gornell of LocoDistro and will feature tributes to cancelled programs All My Children and One Life to Live.
”In a statement, Scot Safon, general manager of HLN, said the network is “thrilled to work with NATAS to celebrate some of television’s best programs and performances.”
“Every day we focus on the news, and that has included extensive coverage of the Daytime Emmys in the past. This year, we’re very excited to also be carrying the event itself,” he added.
NATAS chairman Malachy Wienges noted that the show will be “fresh” and “creative.” NATAS also promised “surprise guests” and “unusual presenter pairings.”
“It's exciting be working with both NATAS and HLN on such an important event as the Daytime Emmy Awards,” said Gornell.
A host has yet to be named.

Man Sentenced to 12 Years For Robbing Home of Guiding Light's Mo Bauer!!

Jesus take the wheel. A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in the pokey for breaking into the home of one of daytime's most beloved heroines! Youthful Essences: For a long time this sudser wasn't receiving network notes; now it is, and the overarching sentiment is GO YOUNGER! Particularly Texas. Roslyn is one of those great dames, great broads who helped to settle the old West, so she's as comfortable in a salon as she is in an opera house. Pearls with everything, the hair can never be too high and a shot of whiskey will just make her day."
Concerning which vampire, werewolf, male witch and/or shapeshifter she's rooting for:
"To be honest, I'm Team Every Male on That Show! There is no one on who's team I'm not. I'm Team Alcide (Joe Manganiello). I'm Team Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). I'm Team Everybody.

GUIDING LIGHT star Grant Aleksander left college more than 30 years ago but returned three decades later to fulfill his lifelong dream of earning a college degree.

The Theater major left Washington and Lee after his sophomore year to pursue an acting career but says his parents always wanted him to graduate from college. He returned in Fall 2010.
"I always planned to get back and finish," he told WDBJ. "I just didn't know it would take 30 years to get back and do it but my life has been unsual in that way and fantastic. I don't think I would change any of it."
Aleksander is married to Sherry Ramsey. The two met at W and L when they starred in "Hamlet." He played the role of Hamlet, and she played Ophelia. She is now an attorney.

Jesus take the wheel. A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in the pokey for breaking into the home of one of daytime's most beloved heroines! According to New York Daily News, career criminal William Pelzer was sent up the river Friday in New York, for having allegedly broken into the Chelsea apartment of Ellen Parker.
Parker portrayed Guiding Light's Mauren Bauer from 1986–93. She turned up for several appearances as Mo's ghost after the character was shockingly killed off by then-executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. From the article:
He’d only been out of prison for three months and was on parole when he woke up the soap star in the middle of the night last August. She started screaming, and he fled, carrying nothing.
Peltzer plead not guilty and stated he didn't commit the crime, but the judge wasn't trying to hear it.

Soon-to-be-returning Days of Our Lives actor Blake Berris (Nick Fallon) has yet another new flick that has the film industry talking. Expect a major courtroom shock this week when Maxie sidesteps having to testify against Matt by becoming his wife. Maxie is clever in the way she outsmarts everybody. She takes the deal which secures her prison release but sees another way out. She wiggles trough the little bit of wiggle room she has with everything in her. When Maxie announces a change in relationship status, the scenes are a lot of fun.
They are very Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, notes JL. Not everyone is happy about her latest stunt. For Spinelli it’s tragic, but Maxie insist she didn’t have a choice, because it was him that opened his mouth about Matt being the killer. Spinelli blurting out that Matt is the killer threw this major wench in her plans and she had to reconstruct in a way that does not benefit the Maxie/Spinelli relationship

Youthful Essences: For a long time this sudser wasn't receiving network notes; now it is, and the overarching sentiment is GO YOUNGER! This doesn't bode well for a recently-returned vet, who could soon be on his or her way out, along with the actress or actor he or she shares the majority of scenes with.
could be The Bold & the Beautiful
Backburnered as Punishment: This soap's showrunners could care less how popular a certain actor or actress is. The thesp-in-question is reportedly being backburnered as punishment for speaking out!
could be Michael Muhney (Adam on The Young & the Restless)
Paging Bobby Ewing: The head writer(s) of this soap—which finds itself once again amid backstage turmoil—pitched a storyline that would basically say the last year's worth of story was all a dream.
could be Days of our Lives
Making It Up Along The Way: This scribe hasn't written a long story in years. He or she makes arcs up week to week!
obviously Maria Bell from The Young & the Restless
I Hate You, But I Have to Pretend I Love You: Fans wondering why their favorite couples have been separated on this soap would be shocked to know that the actors who play the characters cannot stand one another. One half of one supercouple has even begun lobbying for the return of a former screen partner, whom he or she also created soap magic with.
could be Melody Thomas Scott and Eric Braden (Victor and Nikki) or Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow (Sharon and Nick). Or Maurice Benard and Laura Wright (Carly and Sonny, GH)
Jealous, Much?: This soap lead, who has driven story for the better part of a decade, is seeing green over a popular newcomer.
could be Steve Burton or Maurice Benard (Sonny and Jason, GH) are probably jealous of Michael Easton (John McBain).
No Gay Today: A plan for this serial to attempt another gay story—to make up for the botched last try—was nixed before it ever reached the network level.
could be General Hospital or The Young & the Restless

Season 5 of HBO's insanely-addictive, supernatural soap True Blood is almost upon us. As if finding out whether or not Sookie (Anna Paquin) makes good on her pact to stay away from both Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) and Bill (Stephen Moyer), not to mention the fate of poor, shot-through-the-head Tara (Rutina Wesley) wasn't enough to have us tuning in this summer, the series will also boast an arc featuring one of our favorite daytime soapers, Carolyn Hennesy!

Hennesy gave a preview of her stint to our pal's over at Zap2it.
On her new character, she revealed:
"She's very old, as vampires go. And as for where she came from originally is yet to be determined, I would say. For the last, let's say two or three hundred years, she's called the Southwest home.
And after meeting the two of them, I wouldn't choose teams if you shot me through with silver. They are just princes among men."

Blake Berris revealed to Soap Opera Digest what it's been like reprising the role of Horton grandson Nick Fallon. Said the budding film actor:
"I got to do some scenes right off the bat with Kristian [Alfonso, Hope], who I love. It was pretty easy to slip to back into the crazy rhythm of things at DAYS. It felt a little like déjà vu."

i wonder if they'll ever bring tony back to life. and lexie will be back, i doubt renee will stay away for long. i read that she just wanted 1-2 years off lol
but then again, they could just say it wasn't Tony, instead it was cousin Andre. that guy who pretended to be Tony for the past 20+ years while the real Tony was marooned on some island.
Lexie i think will be back, and with a new face.
this is same show that had Jack die and all his organs were donated to charity, meanwhile he came back a few years later with his eyes, ears, lips, and hair intact!
lmfao the town without scheming dimeras won't be great, i hope these new writers realize that. and realize Days needs more Color jfc.
lots of people are speculating Theo will be SORASed now. probably ciara and johnny too.
Renee Jones was the 5th or 6th actress to play Lexie.
her scenes with a dying Lexie don't have the same impact to me because Tanya Boyd was the only Celeste I ever saw on the show.
now that nick is coming back though, i kinda how chelsea shows up again to be bad now that melanie's gone and became nothing but a boring good girl.
