Sister Wives Shocker: Janelle Once Left Kody and her Sisters!!!
So far this season of Sister Wives has been all about how Christine resents Robyn and is getting more and more disgusted with Kody and how having sister wives is really "hard work" and blah blah jealousy blah.
Janelle's passages in the family's new book Becoming Sister Wives is the first I ever heard about this split, which occurred before the reality show started filming (during the eighth year of Janelle's marriage to Kody).
"I felt overwhelmed by having had so many children in quick succession" she writes, "and felt seriously depressed at our lack of financial means."
I also had a particularly nasty fight with Meri -- one of the worst we'd ever had.
I was at my breaking point. I couldn't see my way out of my depression. I told Kody I was leaving. My kids and I stayed with my mother. My job paid a decent salary, which allowed me to buy a better car in addition to my own home. I started to build a life for myself outside the sisterhood.
Sounds like a happy ending to me. Which begs the question ... why did she go back?!?!
Apparently she missed her "sisters" and the kids missed their siblings and "other mothers." So when Kody moved the family to a big house in Utah, that "changed everything."
We were able to be together as a family in a normal and relaxed way. I had my own space, but my kids had their siblings and the other mothers in the same building.
Could it be that Janelle seems to take all the drama in stride because she knows she can be okay on her own?
Sister Wives At Each Other’s Throats, Christine Walks Off TV Set!

With one dad, four moms and 17 kids in Kody Brown's polygamist household, personalities are bound to clash, and in the TLC family's new book Becoming Sister Wives, Janelle shares a fiery exchange which saw fellow wife Christine walk off the show's set.
"When Kody let slip that he had selected Robyn's wedding dress himself, Christine was devastated and walked off set," Janelle writes.
"The show has to fit into an hour of television, so the necessary edits make it look as if she returned immediately."
While the magic of editing might have made it seem like the tiff was resolved in an instant, in reality, Janelle writes Christine "didn't come back for three days.
"We were a mess after that session," Janelle writes. "It took a while for us to heal, but we are stronger for it."
Christine Reveals She Was Jealous Of Robyn!!

Kody’s first three wives had a difficult time when he brought a fourth wife into the family, and Christine emotionally opened up to Robyn dropping the bombshell news that she was jealous when she joined the family!
In the exclusive sneak peek, Christine says that she wrongly blamed the new wife and not her husband for the problems.
“During all of it, it was him I had a hard time with, it wasn’t you,” Christine told Robyn.
The polygamist family has struggled with welcoming the new wife and Christine described the feelings that had her acting out. “I became jealous and it changed our relationship and I started questioning what he was doing.”
As Robyn wiped away tears her sister apologized to her. “I’m sorry you thought I didn’t like you.”

But to be fair, she contributed financially while they were in Utah, it's just that when they moved overnight it meant they lost their jobs. Also Meri had a job but when the show came out she was fired for it.
But I do give Janelle credit, because she was working a lot when they lived in Utah. And I remember her driving a mini van with the window all duct-taped together (all while Kody was out on dates with Robyn in his nice convertible.)
That explanation would make a ton of sense if you think about it - it'd explain the impractical nature of it especially since it's obvious they're otherwise hard up for cash.

If this was the Duggars, she probably wouldn't even be allowed to work. :O
