How Does Miley Stay in Shape? + more!

Fans have been dying to know how Miley Cyrus keeps her flawless figure after getting a glimpse of the 19-year-old’s super toned midriff — and now Celebuzz finally has the answer!

Mari Winsor, the star’s very own Pilates instructor, recently gave us the 4-1-1 on the exercises Miley does to keep her figure in shape. The moves, which are featured on Winsor’s Lower Body Pilates DVD available on GaiamTV, consists of exercising the waist, the glutes, the buttocks, and the inner and outer thighs to ensure a maximum full-impact workout. According to trainer, Miley practices these moves six times a week at her studio in Los Angeles.

How does Miley get those amazing abs? In Pilates, every exercise that you do is focused on your abs, or as we call it in Pilates, your powerhouse. There are specific exercises where you might feel a little more of a burn in that area but you are constantly using your abs to maintain control of your body’s movement. The one-hundred the double leg stretch and the criss-cross are all crucial to sculpt your abs.

The 100:

Lie flat on your back and bring your knees into your chest making sure that the lower back is pressing into the floor. Palms facing down lift your head and shoulders up off the mat. Take your arms straight down by your side, palms facing down. Straighten your legs to a 45-degree angle rotating your legs open from the hip squeezing your legs and heels together. If you have a bad back, bend your knees a little. Breathe in through your nose for a count of five then out through your nose for a count of five until you reach 100. As you’re breathing, pump your arms up and down 100 times keeping them next to your body and parallel to the floor.

Double Leg Stretch:

Lying flat on your back on the mat bring both knees in to your chest. You should be hugging your knees by holding on to your ankles with both hands. Lift your head and shoulders off the mat keeping your shoulders down. Your head should be relatively close to your knees. Imagine yourself being tucked in to a magicians box. Be as tiny as you can be. Stretch your legs out to a 45 degree angle from the body, legs together and slightly rotated from the hip so you can squeeze your heels together, as you extend your arms fully straight by your head. Keep you upper torso stable, tummy pulled in shoulders down and lower back on the mat. As you move both arms and legs in the opposite direction, inhale. Exhale as you use your tummy to draw the legs and arms with control back to the original position in the magicians box. Repeat this ten times. Each time you extend your arms and legs away from your center, give yourself a challenge and try to reach and extra inch longer to create more length in the body and more work in the core.

Criss Cross:

Lie flat on your back. Your hands go behind your head with one hand on top of the other, elbows open, shoulders down. Lift your head and shoulders up off the mat as your right knee comes into your chest and your left leg is extended out at a 45-degree angle. Twist in your waist taking your left elbow towards your right knee. Remember to twist from the waist rather than just moving your elbow towards the knee. As you twist to one side hold the position for three counts then switch to the other side for three counts. Do 10 reps.

The workout in my new Lower Body Pilates DVD encompasses what I refer to as the “rear view”. Often times when we look at ourselves in the mirror, we look at ourselves from the front, from the side, but very rarely do we look at what is behind us. This is a view that is most commonly seen by everyone else, so my thought was to make a workout encompassing everything my clients have ever requested from the waist down: The waist, the hips, the gluts, the buttocks the inner and the outer thighs. If this workout is done without stopping, it could be deemed as a total body workout and cardio as well. If weight loss is your main goal, don’t forget to go on a diet plan along with the workout. In addition to dropping a few pounds, you will definitely lose inches and notice the toning in your muscles.

Now Miley Cyrus is coming to a cinema near you with ‘LOL – Laughing Out Loud‘ (May 31st) At an interview with BILD she brought ‘Happy‘ her few weeks old dog, a Rottweiler-Beagle-Mix.

B: Is this your new man on your side? (Happy)
M: (laughs) Isn’t he cute? I saved him a while ago. He’s always with me now, Liam has been allowed to hold him once.

B: You have been dating your boyfriend Liam Hemsworth for the past 3 years now. What has been the most romantic thing he ever did?
M: I love to write letters. and Liam keeps them all. It’s really cute because usally we girls just do the “we ate chocolate together, let’s keep the box”.

B: Do you remember your first date?
M: It was weird because we were shooting a movie. Our first date was the kissing scene. I said right after it ‘Amazing I’d love to come again tomorrow and the day after. Hopefully there will be a second part!’

B: There was a short break up between you and Liam…
M: Liam and I were separate for a month. Because we worked a lot and thought it wouldn’t work out with our relationship. But we understood we have to work on it if we want to be together.

B: What do you think will be the next step?

M: We love each other a lot but we also do work a lot. At the moment we just want to have a private life as much as possible. We have five amazing dogs and we are happy. We also already live together in Los Angeles but we don’t think about kids.

B: Do you remember your first love?
M: Yes he turned me down. That was the worst feeling in the world, feeling like you have to throw up.

B: Has a boy ever used you for something?
M: Yes in the seventh grade, there was a guy I have been totally in love with. But he never spoken to me. But then my TV Show came out and we dated each other, then suddenly he turned me down only to say he broke up with Miley Cyrus.

B: Did you want to have revenge on your ex?
M: My dad always said, success is the best revenge and I see it just like that as well. I said to myself I will write a song about it and it’s going to be a hit. HA! f*** you!

B: You had a private teacher in the eight grade.
M: Sometimes I do ask myself how it would have been if I was a public school as teenager. But I’m such a creative person it would be hard for me to sit 8 hours in a classroom.

B: What would you say to young girls, who would like to live your dream?
M: It’s hard to grow up in front of everybody. You have to be strong, and to be honest I don’t even want my little sister to be in this business. My own children won’t be actors!

Sex is Magical
Miley Cyrus is no stranger to criticism for her sexually charged image, but the singer and actress wants you to know she’s not ashamed. In fact, she thinks sex is pretty awesome.

During a recent sit-down with Lifetime television host Amanda de Cadenet, Cyrus talked about her self-worth in the face of media scrutiny, a family rift and increasing pressure from her industry.

“The girls that really base how much they’re worth on the sexual favors they can do for somebody, that makes me really sad. Because sex is actually really beautiful. It’s the only way we create, and it’s the only way the world keeps going,” she said on de Cadenet’s “The Conversation.”

“It’s ignorant not to talk to your kids about it or [not] make it seem as magical or cool as it actually is,” she said.

Some thought Miley was more show than tell at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, when a cropped blazer served as her red carpet dress. But even her fashion choices circle back to a double standard for women, says Miley.

“[It] used to be if you’re a woman you do not sing about sex, and now if that’s not what you’re singing about, if that’s not your entire image, you won’t get played [on radio],” she said.

She’s not impervious to the system, however. While she’s solid with boyfriend and “Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth, and her career is maintaining, coming into her own — sexually or otherwise — hasn’t been effortless.

“I’ve lost [my sense of self] a lot. There’s times you hear what you should be so much that you lose what you actually are, and that’s really hard,” said Cyrus. Source
