Gaga Gets Emotional About Religious Extremists In Manila
"I know that everybody, you know, thinks that I stand for, well not everybody, not everybody, I shouldn't say that, but some people think that I stand for like, really inappropriate things that are really bad for... *crowd screams* Listen, I am slightly irresponsible, let's be honest, okay? It's okay. But they're not completely right and the truth is I want the fucking best for you. I want the best for every single one of you. I love you with all of my heart and all my soul, I really do, and all the things that I think about and the way that I am, it's my lifestyle, it's just part of this one big giant performance art statement of liberation. So, I hope that you feel tonight, as free as your hair. And to those of you that don't feel free, take the best opportunity to free yourselves.
I just feel like, you know, so many people have been protesting and it really doesn't bother me truly because I know that there has to be change, but for all those kids all over the world that take their lives when they're so young because they feel bullied or they're afraid because they're gay and they don't want to tell anybody, don't you think that some of us should FUCKING STAND UP AND SAY THE GODDAMN TRUTH? It's true. It's not about the music, it's not about, it's not about anything, it's not about my clothes, it's not about having a hit record, it's the fucking goddamn truth that people in the world need to be free of who they are and be proud and feel valuable no matter where they are."
"Today, it was all over the news that if I do the concert in Jakarta, I would get shot at or some fucking shit. Well you know what, the truth is that to be worried about getting shot at any country around the world because of who you are in itself is a fucking travesty and it's exactly what we need to be talking about."
I will remind them that they think they have a fucking big voice, and they might think that by using my name they can spread the hatred, but I can spread way more positivity and love than they could ever do.
And it's not that I don't respect their culture or yours, I respect you, I do. Everything that you believe in, everything that you stand for, even the things that I sing about that you don't agree with. I totally respect that because everybody's allowed to have their own opinions. BUT I CANNOT RESPECT HOMOPHOBIA, I cannot respect hatred to the Gay Community"

SET EM FREEEEEEEEE, LADY GAGA
Doubt they even threatened her, she probably made it up or heard a rumor. I mean do you honestly believe that a group of religious freaks in Indonesia managed making contact with her?

it's true! :O
I wonder if 'Illness' is a song title, it would fit the “Some people think we're sick, but we just love pop music” lyrics she did during the Jingle Bell Ball.

Okay...and having a concert in Manila will change this how?
God...could this bitch be more annoying? She keeps weaving the gay flag like her life depended on it, we get it, you like us, move on, people have been fighting for gay rights for way longer and some did it in a time where it was actually a career killer and not the other way around like it is now, she needs to stop acting like she's changing the world one stupid song at a time. As a gay man I am extremely annoyed to have a straight white woman speaking for me and making noise about my cause for self-gain all the damn time. If she's so for gays why not put some male on male kissing on her videos for starters...it means A LOT more for those "poor bullied" gay kids to see themselves on tv (I know this first hand, Beautiful back in the day did the job) than having some bitch tweeting about it, but she won't do it because that could alienate a big chunk of potential buyers, one thing is to say it, another one is to see it.
She's done that before and people like you bitched about her exploiting gay people.
Really, her alienating people? Where have you been this entire era? She has done nothing but alienate people. I rather her march on Washington, organize rallies, and pay $40,000 just to meet with the Pres. to talk about bullying than just put two guys kissing in her videos.
~As a gay man~ I appreciate ANYONE and everyone who speaks up for my lack of rights―to say that a supporter “doesn't count” just because they are straight (or bi) is just as backwards as the homophobia that denies us.
Let's pretend, for a second, that you actually do have the ability to see inside Lady Gaga's soul and know for a fact that she's only using us as publicity. Even if she were secretly insincere, the fact of the matter is that she's “pretending” to be a gay rights activist 24 hours of every day and “pretending” in real, tangible ways―if it looks, sounds, and acts like a duck 24/7, who the fuck cares that it's secretly a cow deep down inside?
Finally, I'd like to point out that her campaigning may not affect people who are bitter and unwelcoming of new ideas, but it does have an effect on society. You might not remember, but young kids are really pliable in their belief systems, and I'm confident that Lady Gaga, the biggest pop star in the world right now, talking about gay being okay (and, by the way, taking a risk in doing so), has made some little kids change their tune. That's positive change, and I'll take that any way I can get it.
I hate the narrow-minded idea that straight people can't campaign for gay people, men can't campaign for women, white people can't campaign for black people, and so on. We may not know the specific struggles that each of us go through, but at the end of the day we are one community and wanting rights for each other is a good thing. It's insanity to insist that no group should support another―just go sulk in a corner if you have such a problem with it.
also: gtfo saying it's all about making money with no controversy when you re in a post about her ~satanic self earning her death threats.
icon love btw!!!
