What happens when you call out Chris Brown?

Model Chrissy Teigen made an innocent comment on Twitter stating "Why sing when you can dance" in reference to Chris Brown's Billboard Music Awards performance, which launched a tirade of hate onto her Twitter from Chris's "Team Breezy" fanbase.

PS READ THE TWEETS FROM THE BOTTOM UP

She then attempted to reason w/ Team Breezy

I feel the same way you to bb. I point out sexism all the time and my boyfriend has actually told me that I am overreacting and just want to be offended by shit. :/

I'll mention why someone/something just reeks of misogyny, and I get OTHER WOMEN who just don't see it/get it. Makes me irl sad.

Also, that ad is fucking atrocious.

This image has been all over my facebook. And there are so many comments like, "Yep, she's in the kitchen where she belongs."

MFTE I'm so overwhelmed sometimes with how fucked it is :/ So many people I know including women laugh off that shit including my parents wtf.

My friend who is a newly out gay man was excitedly talking about gay rights with me and I was thinking how happy I was for him until he then saw a girl who he "hates" walk past. when I asked him why he hated her he started bashing the fact that she was a feminist and how annoying feminists were and how they think all men are stupid and lesser than women and how that isn't equality, and how unnecessary feminism is. I was speechless and he just laughed off the look on my face.

Oh my god. I'm glad my boyfriend understands when I point it out, but my friends.
I try to explain that i'm a feminist, and I almost always get LOL YOU'RE NOT A FEMINIST. I think they assume I have to be A. A lesbian. B. Ugly. C. single4ever
One of my friends HATES feminists, and goes on how we all ignore the problems men have and that all the problems are equal blahblah. I told her theres a difference when a man goes out alone and a woman goes out alone, and I got a "Guys worry about it too, mostly small guys do too, whoever is easy to take down, not just women." While that is true to a point, people SPECIFICALLY target women for a reason.
One of my friend claims i'm not a feminist because i'm not racist and hateful like they all are. Tried to explain, but I didn't know what i was talking about obviously~~

I thought this was for domestic violence before I read what you wrote.
It should say something like this is what happens when you talk and drive.

WHOA, that's unbelievable. (Is that henna on her hand? Not that that's the point, but just wondering.)
mynamehere07 21st-May-2012 03:31 pm (UTC)
It's the text that implies it's somehow her fault. It insinuates that a woman who talks will fuck shit up for her man (better seen than heard). I think that main message (don't drive distracted) is important, but they should have put more thought in the text.

But I do wonder, what would people think if the genders were swapped? What if it were a man in the photo and the text that says "Don't talk while she drives." Would people automatically think of the stereotype that women are bad drivers?

Do they not have a picture of a man on the receiving end to make it fair?
Also, I have a girl who calls me all the time when she drives (on bluetooth so hands free) and when I realise she is in the car, I tell her to hang up and concentrate on the dman road!
