Actor Michael K. Williams Talks Portraying Ol’ Dirty Bastard in Biopic
The actor, who most famously played Omar in The Wire, talks playing the late Wu-Tang member in the upcoming biopic, Dirty White Boy…
In his first lead role, Michael K. Williams will not be returning to the 36 chambers entirely when he plays the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard in the biopic, Dirty White Boy.
“There was a lot of things that us, in the public eye, us as his fan base, we didn’t know what he was going through right there in front of our face,” Williams recently told New York City’s Power 105 radio dial. “It wasn’t just drugs; he struggled deeply with mental illness.”
“It’s only going to focus on the last two years of his life, when he was released from prison up until the day he died,” Williams clarified about the ODB biopic.
“It’s very important to the quality of film, to the realness of the film,” Williams said in regards to the RZA’s involvement. “We’re going to capture the last time that all of them were on stage together as a family, and to do that, we need all hands on deck. We don’t want no actors portraying any of the Wu-Tang; we want the real brothers.”

Kanye West to Debut ‘Cruel Summer’ at Cannes Film Festival
G.O.O.D. Music is headed to Cannes. Kanye West is set to debut a new film called Cruel Summer at this year’s festival.
The project, which is the brainchild of his design company DONDA, will open at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23.
The hip-hop superstar produced, wrote, and directed the film, which was shot in Qatar earlier this year. Kid Cudi and Aziz Ansari are among the stars. Vanessa Beecroft handled production design and Elon Rutberg wrote the screenplay.
Cruel Summer will remain open to the public for two days after its debut. Tickets are available on Kanye’s website.

Eminem Putting Finishing Touches on Slaughterhouse Shady Records Debut LP
The four-man contingent, consisting of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9”, have laid out all their bars for their upcoming Shady Records-debut album, Welcome to: Our House. Now, they’re just waiting on Em to sprinkle his final touches on the LP.
“The album is done. In terms of vocal recording, we’re done. Marshall is still in the process of mixing, we still got a couple of records that we’re missing,” Royce da 5’9″ recently told MTV News.
They hope to keep their scheduled release date of June 12, but if they have to push it back, it will only be by a month at most, Royce says.
“We’re on pace for June, worst-case scenario, we’re looking at July,” said Royce, “but it’s definitely coming, 100 percent.”

Lil Wayne Accused of Assault Again
Lil Wayne is in trouble with the law again.
According to TMZ, Weezy and his entourage are under investigation for assault, allegedly for beating down a fan who tried to take a photo of the rapper.
Alfredo Marino told the entertainment site that on May 3 he spotted Wayne and his crew skateboarding and asked if he could take a photo, but was shut down. At that point, Marino returned to his car and attempted to sneak a picture anyway, but was immediately confronted by Lil Tunechi and his crew.”Don’t you know all it takes is a word and these motherf**kers are going to f**k you up?,” Lil Wayne allegedly threatened.
Shortly after, Marino claims he was hit over the head with a skateboard, which knocked him down and left him bleeding. Marino says he suffered a concussion and vertigo as a result.
Cops are investigating. Calls to Lil Wayne’s rep were not returned.

This Sunday’s edition of “Sucka Free” will feature Asher Roth, Biz Markie, and 2Chainz inside the celebrity green room on the set of “Hip Hop Squares.”
“Hip Hop Squares” will debut on Tuesday, May 22 at 11:00 PM ET.
