'Make It Or Break It' series finale: Taking it to the mat one last time

It’s probably for the best Make It Or Break It ended when it did. Kerri Strug might have pulled off a gold-clinching vault on a sprained ankle at the 1996 Olympics, but that kind of odds-flouting miracle certainly didn’t seem in store for the teen gymnasts of MIOBI, who mostly limped to the finish of last night’s season 3 finale.


It was an issue of set-up, really. The entire dramatic thrust of the the series has been centered on the girls’ dreams of competing at the 2012 London Olympics (an event that would likely happen before the return of the show itself). Had the show been renewed for a fourth season, it would have felt dead in the water.

The opinions of this writer are invalid, tbqh, being that they said that Emily Kmetko's appearance was missed all season (it was surely not), but this is just a post so us few MIOBI fans can be sad and depressed they canceled this show before we got to see the girls compete in the Olympics (aka the thing that they've been working towards since the show began and which would have coincided nicely with them ending this summer). Eff you, ABCFamily

bummed that it's ending. Josie is best friend's with a good friend of mine irl and she loved being on the show. but yeah.... with the Olympics this year, I don't know how else they'd keep it ~dramatic~

It would have had to end after the Olympics but to cut it short right before was a little weird.

Now they can make a spin-off of the Lauren Tanner Detective Agency. That actress was going nuts in the last couple of scenes.

I wish the network would at least give it a tv movie or something instead of like whatever bullshit they're gonna make about bunheads. It could air during the Summer with the Olympics and everything. They're so stupid. What was the point of bringing it back to fuck them over?

I loved the season 2 finale. I would have preferred it ended there in this case.

I rarely ever comment about shows but lbr... Comparing this to other ABC shows, it was so different and had really great actresses (Except the annoyance that is Emily even though I secretly wanted her to come on the finale)... I think the way the finale was written was extreme SHIT.

I wish in the end they could fade to black and just say who won what medals and what not if you're going to HAVE TO wrap it up and not give us another season with them in the Olympics.

Anyways forever pressed at ABC. Pretty Little Liars, & SLOTAT is shit. (PLL Used to be good until they decided the whole A thing to be Mona, still forever pressed at that as well)

it made me so annoyed that they added the molestation storyline in at the very end of the series. it just seemed like a waste of time. i know it's an important and serious topic, but it was soooo out of place.

also, would it really have been that hard to give them one more episode to show the oh-lympics?

Seriously! Especially since the show had so weirdly avoided Super Serious Real World Issues in the past (like that time Emily didn't want her mom's ex to come back and she was making it sound like he was abusive and then he just turned out to be a commitment-phobe). I was totally blindsided by the molestation reveal, and not in a good way.

I feel the same way. I haven't seen the whole ep yet, but when I sat down to watch it, I was like, "Woo, series finale. Oh, wait. Molestation. That's fun."

I couldn't stand Emily I was so happy when she was gone for good.This was the only show on ABC Family I really bothered with oh well.

I can't believe they canceled the show before Lauren pushed someone down the stairs. HER TRUE CRAZY WAS JUST WAITING TO BE REVEALED!

Also, I hope that she and the girl who plays Payson get cast in something soon.

So sad to see this show go. Watched it since the very beginning. Although I was hoping for a better ending. Felt like the finale was very rushed.

As a series finale, it wasn't good but they meant it as a season finale so it's really ABC Family's fault. I wanted to see the girls go compete at the Olympics (except it was so ridiculous that Lauren made the team). And I loved the Summer/Sasha scene.

I will miss this show, it was such a fun guilty pleasure. I was looking forward to the alternate universe where HBIC Payson gets the gold.
