Lady Gaga's Indonesia Concert Canceled
More than 50,000 of Indonesia's "Little Monsters" have lost their chance to see Lady Gaga perform in Jakarta after the National Police declined to issue the concert a permit on Tuesday.
"The National Police said verbally that [the concert] would not be permitted," Jakarta police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said. "The letter will be made later."
The decision was made after the Jakarta Police recommended canceling the June 3 concert earlier this week.
“Many parties opposed it,” Rikwanto said.
Indonesia's hard-line Islamist organizations have mobilized against the sold-out concert, claiming that the singer, known for her revealing outfits and suggestive dance moves, will corrupt the nation's youth. The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) called Lady Gaga a "dangerous" influence and threatened to use force to prevent the pop star from stepping off her plane. Others, like the Muslim Defenders Team, claimed the pop star teaches fans to worship Satan.
More than 52,000 tickets have been sold for Lady Gaga's concert at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. Concert promoter Big Daddy just released an additional 2,000 tickets on Monday.
The concert's promoter was not available for immediate comment.

It seems a lot of artists have a really hard time in Indonesia. I hope it's easier for the next generation of youths to enjoy music.
Indonesia needs their own Spring to happen tbh
By the way, the Arab Spring happened in countries that weren't under an Islamic dictatorship. The Spring usually occurred in countries where the leaders were irreligious and publicly known to get drunk on a daily basis (eg Hosni Mubarek, Bashar al Assad, Muammar Gaddafi).

The scene where Cat and Lister were in the prison cell cracked me up the most - poor Winnie the Pooh :'D
I hate comments like these. they're not original or funny tbh.
Ugh, religious extremism.
You can just go there and get visa on arrival, which is around $20.
in advance visa would be same price
A book launch by Manji, a Canadian author and Islamic reformist, was stopped by police in Jakarta earlier this month for security reasons, and then, last Wednesday, in the university town of Yogyakarta, thugs violently broke up a discussion and attacked its 150 attendees.
Manji’s associate, Emily Rees, was bashed with an iron bar by men wearing motorcycle helmets and face masks.
Manji was discussing her latest book, Allah, Liberty and Love, which urges reformist Muslims to show ‘‘moral courage’’ in the face of intimidation. She told The Age that she was shielded from the attackers by ‘‘a pyramid of women’’.
"Ms Rees suffered a badly bruised arm, and said the men were yelling ‘‘Where is Manji? Where is Manji?’’ as they smashed windows, crockery and computers and tore up copies of the book. The Majelis Mujahidin Council claimed responsibility and now other extremists including the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), and the Muslim Defenders Team have turned their attention to Lady Gaga.

Things seem to be going downhill there.
