I was angry with Theon a lot (didn't read the books) but I was a bit conflited because of his face. it had such a doubt look to it. Alfie killed! he was so good.
Alfie's really good as Theon, I agree. And I kind of feel bad for him because I believe that he really respected Ned, and wanted to almost be a Lord of Winterfell like him, to have the people of Winterfell respect him as much. But at the same time I just keep thinking, god he's the ultimate douche.
Tbh, I can't really take him seriously because he's such a little boy. He wants to win his family's (and men's) respect and the only way it's possible is to sacrifice his loyalty to the Starks. There is certainly a part of him that can be cruel, but mostly he's just ignorant or feels forced to do something in order to prove himself. Basically, he's more dumb than evil.
tbh the show made me feel more for him. Alfie does a really good job of showing how conflicted he is, and for some reason even though theon has POV chapters I still couldn't feel much sympathy for him in ACOK
I think Alfie is better at portraying his character than any other actor in the series. Seriously. I don't like how he looks as Theon but he is perfect fucking casting. Theon is just such a dick in the books until DwD but in the series you actually genuinely get a sense of his motives and very, very intense reactions to him.

lol when she reminds him that he needs to marry a Frey, his "I knoooow" was adorable. both jon and robb acted like very, very sexually innocent teenagers this episode. jon's absolute earnestness, childishness and stupidity was extremely endearing.
