Well, my school had a rock-a-thon that started at 5pm and ended at 6am at our middle school. 'Course, that was in the late 80s. But we were in and out of the high school at all times of the day and night because our town library was in the high school.
i was in drama and we did it all the time. on play nights we'd leave around 1am, sometimes we slept there. then there was fundraising stuff like wakeathons or part of our thespian initiation was staying in the theatre in the dark tbh that was the only accurate thing about this horrendous episode of glee.
they had her convinced that she had to relieve this old man's boner in order to save him or something, and they "connected" this pump to his "penis" (but not really obvs) and she was pumping it and he was like moaning omg
vagina (cooter) punched her in the face and black sue overheard the girls making fun of domestic violence/cracked a joke about bieste's shiner so original recipe sue and black sue made the girls sing a song about female empowerment after black sue told her shpiel about her abusive father. they sang "he had it coming" from chicago which completely missed the point then bieste confessed that vagina hit her and it wasn't a gym accident. and she was afraid to leave him because she didn't think anyone else would ever love her again so they felt bad and sang florence+the machine's shake it off to make her feel better and during the song there were flashes and she gave vagina a second chance
my prom was like a bad bar mitzvah the voting for prom king/queen was rigged we had a band called "god made me funky" that was mediocre. only good thing was the big dude wearing a cape and cookie monster cap
i didn't even know who our Prom King was. i still don't tbh. he was crowed and i kept asking "who the hell is that??" everyone was all "omg he's like, the most popular guy at school!" well obviously not if i didn't even know him.
It really is. If it was just singing and silly teen love stories or whatever, that'd be one thing, but now that it tries to ~tackle big issues~ and fails hardcore every week, it's just sending terrible messages.
Exactly. Women and girls don't need more pressure, responsibility, or 'empowerment' to keep ourselves safe in relationships, we already get that message from all sides. All it does it make it seem like our fault when we're in a dangerous situation, which is what Glee just did to Bieste.
And her "I know you think your boyfriends would never hit you, but that's what I thought too" came off as very YOU COULD BE NEXT instead of the 'abusers aren't always who you suspect them to be' that it should have been.
I really didn't like how they split up the girls and boys for this episode when boys need this lesson, too. Maybe instead of doing shitty My Fair Lady covers they could stand to learn a thing or two about how abuse happens and how to prevent it so we don't have another generation of dudes who don't even know what abuse/rape even is.
it was mediocre vagina (cooter) hit bieste because she didn't wash the dishes there was a whole subplot about the girls cracking a dv joke and black sue calling them out on it
I'm still upset over Rachel. There was no way in hell that she should've/would've choked, but I guess this is the writers way of keeping Rachel in Lima on the show with Finn. Then fucking New Girl started with "River" and continued my river of tears.
I dunno, I actually think the WAY she choked was pretty damn realistic. She put SO SO SO much pressure on herself and then repeated a lyric she had already sung.
What I can't believe though is that she wasn't able to recover. She should've just moved on, not gasped and asked to go again! That's so unlike her. But yeah, she did psych herself out.
LOL I'm thinking of the comments here from previous Glee posts that said Quinn is going to be able to walk at prom, getting encouragement from Finn or someone else, looks like everyone was right
I felt more horrible for Puck than I did for Rachel. Now she really knows life isn't rainbows and unicorns. Puck had that figured out years ago. But of course it's all Rachel and no one gives a crap about Puck. He tried his hardest and look where it got him? My poor bb.
Oh yeah, he really tried his hardest. For one night. One night to learn presumably a semester's worth of material. (I have finals on the brain, as I took 4 today.)
The show was pretty pessimistic today, but tbh, that's life. It basically blows.
What the fuck was that episode? Sudden domestic violence involving 2 minor characters and no goddamn development! It was so abrupt and weird. And she went back to him but o well because we'll never hear about it again. Enjoy your shitty abusive husband, Beiste 'cause Glee won't resolve your situation.
The only redeeming part of it was Rachel's story. I think they could have split the episode between Rachel and Puck's failure storylines but they had to warn everyone of the perils of DV! It's almost offensive how thrown in it was.
I liked the cover a lot but I kept thinking that there would have been actual impact if there had been more time spent on the DV issue. Again, I expect too much from Glee.
I can believe the lack of development because, much like Tina, you haven't heard from/ seen Beiste in forever. Unfortunately, we'll never see her again.
i didn't like that they had Beiste going back. i mean i get why they did it, because that DOES unfortunately happen...but idk it just rubbed me the wrong way because like you said...who knows if we'll ever even hear about it again.
I was so sad for Beiste and Rachel. Kurt killed on his song and he deserved the compliments he got. And wtf @ Blaine having time to help Puck and listen to Kurt. Did he have nowhere else to be? And I'm glad they let Tina out of the closet :) I loved Sue and black Sue working together. Rachel's sol at the end was flawless. As was Shake It Out.
But.... were they seriously joking about domestic abuse earlier? Seriously?
god i HOPE that Finn gets kicked out again. he just gets on my last nerve. i know i'm always the one saying that i don't take the show seriously, but i swear i want to punch him in the face every single time he's on the screen.
and lol no to Rachel being Prom Queen. absolutely not.
i'm not sure how i feel about the Beiste story line.
i feel bad for her too. i was hoping that they would have gone the route of her ACTUALLY staying away from him and pressing charges. especially after that speech she gave all of the girls.
i mean high schoolers in the school at 3am pulling an all-nighter?!
bitch please.
and them parading in lingerie for the chicago number?!
BUT OMFG WMYB NEXT WEEK

I'm conflicted
omg now she's like masturbating him, how is she handling this so well. i would have been GONE.
please tell me i read that right
they had her convinced that she had to relieve this old man's boner in order to save him or something, and they "connected" this pump to his "penis" (but not really obvs) and she was pumping it and he was like moaning omg
What was going on there?
so original recipe sue and black sue made the girls sing a song about female empowerment after black sue told her shpiel about her abusive father.

Just the latest in a long list of fails.

but in typical ryan murphy fashion, they went about the whole topic and subplot horrible and sugarcoated
