Zooey Deschanel's Haircape got her a new job as Pantene's New Spokeswoman

Zooey Deschanel has been unveiled as Pantene‘s newest celebrity ambassador!

“I am so excited to be a part of the Pantene family. Anyone who knows me knows that I am really into hair. I’m a real girly girl and love doing my hair and experimenting with different styles,” the 32-year-old New Girl star shared.

“Being a ‘Pantene girl’ has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. It is really amazing to be representing the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Collection, the products are fantastic and Pantene also supports the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program which is a wonderful cause,” Zooey added. “Pantene is helping to provide confidence and beautiful real-hair wigs to women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment; you can’t put a price on that.”
do-wop!

xtinkerbellax 29th-Apr-2012 09:17 pm (UTC)
The only reason celebs use the things they endorse is because the brand gives them a bunch of free product.
masquerade_07 29th-Apr-2012 08:34 pm (UTC)
Pantene really sucks though. Can anyone suggest a good shampoo for oily hair btw?
pickathelitter 29th-Apr-2012 08:37 pm (UTC)
I think Carol's Daughter clarifying shampoo...My mom gave it to me as a gift and it smells amazinggg
guadalcanal 29th-Apr-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
I use Lush and their shampoo bars has worked wonders on my hair, if I needed to I could probably go three days without washing my hair and it wouldn't be oily. It's like magic.
zigzagzap 29th-Apr-2012 08:48 pm (UTC)
Which one do you use? I just finished a jumping juniper bar but I want to try a new one.
destructo_ray 29th-Apr-2012 08:50 pm (UTC)
My sister got some last christmas and I sneak a wash with the squeaky green bar every now and then. I really do like the results.

really? how soon would your hair get greasy before using?
paparatti 29th-Apr-2012 09:59 pm (UTC)
I swear to god, I never thought their prices would be worth it, but I go once a year, drop $150 and it's like I'm buying happiness. Their Jungle Conditioner + R&B has saved my hair.
leopard_legs 30th-Apr-2012 02:41 pm (UTC)
I love those bars so much! Just adore them. And they're a nice convenient little size so you don't have bottles dirtying the sides of the tub.

destructo_ray 29th-Apr-2012 08:47 pm (UTC)
I agree, I have fine, oily hair and Pantene is the worst!
tundrabeast 29th-Apr-2012 08:56 pm (UTC)
I'm still hunting myself, but I bought a bunch of philosophy showergel/shampoo dirt cheap after christmas and it's shockingly amazing. Organix argan oil is sort of ok I guess. I am going to try the naked shampoo next because I really like their conditioner.
stayingdrunk 29th-Apr-2012 08:58 pm (UTC)
in the last year i've been going to an friend's all-organic hair salon and i've found that organic shampoo and conditioner hairlines are incredible for oil-ridden hair. i never had a huge problem with oil build up, but with these lines my build up was practically non-existent days after washing.

something to consider, might help you!
svaty 29th-Apr-2012 09:01 pm (UTC)
herbal essences has a clarifying shampoo that is great. it is also dirt cheap. it doesn't overdry. i also use a color depositing shampoo regularly and a shampoo for color treated hair so i mix them up, but i could use it every day with no problem. the water here is really weird. hard or soft, i forget. but now my hair never feels clean and gets oily at the roots. anyway, i recommend it! i hadn't used that brand in ages and picked it up a few months ago.

leia_black 29th-Apr-2012 09:45 pm (UTC)
Pantene is total shit and really bad for your hair because it just coats the shaft in wax, which is why it looks glossy when you use it. The build up from pantene is ridiculous.

I really like Herbal Essences Squeaky Clean, my hair's not super oily but if I use that shampoo my hair just does not get greasy. It's amazing
erised_mirror 29th-Apr-2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
This surprises me! Must be a country issue because Argentine Pantene works wonderfully for me.

There's some really good oil absorbing dry shampoos
bloblawslawblog 30th-Apr-2012 08:01 pm (UTC)
Johnson's baby shampoo, and a tiny drop of Mane and Tail conditioner. My hair is long as fuq, but I get greasy pretty fast around the top of my head, since my hair is crazy thick..sometimes I'll switch it up and use the Mane and Tail shampoo to moisturize my hair a tiny bit. It's probably the best combo I've used and I used to spend like 100 bucks on Shampoo/Conditioner :\

I thought she was a huge animal person, though? Why would she go with Pantene? (Unless I'm confusing her with someone else?)

I'm pretty sure she's a vegan.

angelakinsey 29th-Apr-2012 08:45 pm (UTC)
I think she was vegan, mainly because she's allergic to dairy and eggs. I'm pretty sure I remember reading she eats meat now though.
bulimia 29th-Apr-2012 08:51 pm (UTC)
she's not
xtinkerbellax 29th-Apr-2012 09:19 pm (UTC)
She has allergies that give her dietary restrictions, not everyone is vegan for political reasons.
solestella 29th-Apr-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
She's a vegan. No idea if it's because she's huge on animals though.

Does Pantene test on animals?
callme_morbid 29th-Apr-2012 08:42 pm (UTC)
she's vegan so i really don't get it.

She's not a vegan. Emily is. Zooey's just allergic to a bunch of stuff. She is suppose to be a huge animal person so IDK.
pipsdixiechick 30th-Apr-2012 01:36 am (UTC)
She's been a face for Rimmel London too-and I recently read that they test on animals as well.

It seems every hairdresser and person into haircare that I know would sooner advise me to light my head on fire than to use Pantene.

Their advertisements are good for knowing which celebrity isn't too good for a paycheck.
jezemel 29th-Apr-2012 08:42 pm (UTC)
I asked in Aveda what was so horribly bad about using Suave and the women gasped. GASPED.

xtinkerbellax 29th-Apr-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
This is what my hairdresser told me about Herbal Essence, she said it was basically like using dish detergent on your hair.
leia_black 29th-Apr-2012 09:47 pm (UTC)
My cosmetology teacher in grade 10 literally gave us a lecture about how pantene was the absolute worst product for your hair because of all the build up it causes and how it coats your hair in wax.

I have heard that their beautiful lengths program is really good though, and much less shady than locks of love.
sullypants 29th-Apr-2012 09:50 pm (UTC)
Yea, my hairdresser says it's the one thing she never wants me to use.
her_historia 30th-Apr-2012 07:07 am (UTC)
And you have to wonder why when research doesn't show Pantene to be harmful in consumer testing. Quite the opposite results are found, actually.

Hairdressers are often lied to by the salon companies they buy from, apparently. I say look into the research claims.

i tried their coconut milk conditioner. it dried my hair soooo badly :(
adb7 29th-Apr-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
They smell great but I find the results to be the same no matter what kind I buy. I keep buying them shits though. I guess the shea butter one is pretty good but I can never find it.
lo_anxiety 29th-Apr-2012 08:44 pm (UTC)
yep, i like the green tea kind.
heartlockedx 29th-Apr-2012 08:44 pm (UTC)
their coconut shampoo/conditioner made my hair sooooo dried i wanted to cry. i have curly hair and it was an uncontrollable freezy, tangled up mess.
yalingster 29th-Apr-2012 08:44 pm (UTC)
my friend swears by it and said she noticed a difference in her hair after using it but thinks they all work the same.

she got me to buy the coconut one... but the smell... was just too much for me.
jennitarox 29th-Apr-2012 08:45 pm (UTC)
I used the argan oil one and I've noticed a slight difference. My hair seems less frizzy and stays in place more. I'm giving the teatree mint one a shot now
randomtasks 29th-Apr-2012 08:51 pm (UTC)
I'm using the Brazilian Keratin one and it's nothing special.
I actually hate the smell of the shampoo but I love the smell of the conditioner.

I'm going back to my Nexxus shampoo/conditioner after I finish them tho.

Omg no, bb! My hair started breaking it was so dry.
teenageriot16 29th-Apr-2012 09:03 pm (UTC)
I used the coconut one, and it completely fried my hair. Worst product I have ever used, and I have strong, thick hair.
principlvaliant 29th-Apr-2012 09:16 pm (UTC)
That stuff was awful for my hair :( And if I just towel dried it and went to bed with it damp, it smelled funny the next morning which was really weird.
squirrelsarerad 29th-Apr-2012 09:33 pm (UTC)
I love those. I only ever buy them when theyre 2 for 1 but every time Im in the grocery store I have to stop and smell them. The coconut milk and the tea tree mint ones smell amaaaazing
corroded_tears 29th-Apr-2012 09:37 pm (UTC)
The coconut one is great but I have long, super thick, super dense straight hair and the bottles are too small for the price/amount I need to wash my hair.
silentxstrom 29th-Apr-2012 09:43 pm (UTC)
I have the brazilian kertatin therapy and both the shampoo and conditioner made my hair really dry.

I have tried a couple kinds now - they smell great, but don't do anything for my oily scalp/dried ends that tangle. Definitely not getting again.

I've been using the organix keratin shampoo/conditioner and I really love it. The conditioner is to die for!!
captivatedlady 30th-Apr-2012 04:59 am (UTC)
I'm a hairdresser but I use the awaphui ginger shp and cond on my hair and started using it on clients sometimes, it's really good and my hair isn't falling out as bad. My hair is really fine and oily scalp but dry from old color at the ends. The moroccan oil one is ok. The coconut one isn't very moisturizing IMO. The vanilla one I used once was okay but I'm really in love with the awaphui ginger.
