'Glee' -- The Houses That Bad Cover Songs Bought

Mashing up your favorite songs really does pay … ‘cause “Glee” star Lea Michele just bought a new house in the L.A. area for $1.4 million. Don’t stop believing!

Michele picked up the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom house earlier this month. It features a solar-heated salt-water pool, a master suite with French doors and a custom bath with steam shower and tumbled Carrara marble (whatever that is).

The place also has a ton of closet space … you know … to fit the vast majority of “Glee” fans.

'Glee' star Kevin McHale dances into Hollywood Hills

Kevin McHale pays $1.025 million for the Midcentury home, which features a tall entry leading to a combined living and dining room with vaulted ceilings and city and hillside views.

“Glee’s” Kevin McHale, who plays paraplegic Artie Abrams, has bought a house in the Hollywood Hills for $1.025 million.

The Midcentury home features a tall entry leading to a combined living and dining room with vaulted ceilings and city and hillside views. A wall of windows open to a deck on the main level of the more than 2,000-square-foot house. The kitchen features red cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, plus an island/bar with seating. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors open to a fenced lawn off the master bedroom suite, which has a sitting area. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

McHale, 23, was a member of the boy band NLT and is an accomplished dancer.

Eric Lavey of Teles Properties was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Nikos Small of John Aaroe Group represented McHale.

i only posted it to talk about real estate tbh
reginageorge 22nd-Apr-2012 10:22 pm (UTC)
i mean i can't say i'm surprised. the following this show has in unreal and they make tons of money.
melbournegirl 23rd-Apr-2012 01:35 am (UTC)
Compared an average person, but they get screwed over on iTunes and CD sales. For the popularity of the show, they are probably underpaid.

peddlestools 22nd-Apr-2012 10:22 pm (UTC)
in other news, i just found a listing for a newly renovated apartment in a pre-war building in crown heights brooklyn that literally costs less in rent than what i pay here in north carolina

and it's a 1br/1bath, not even a studio

is crown heights a shitty area? it's described as historic, and walking distance to the botanical gardens and brooklyn art museum and it's just 4 stops to manhattan
ericasays 22nd-Apr-2012 10:26 pm (UTC)
careful girl. it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
dustyhearts 22nd-Apr-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
crown heights is slowly being gentrified so anything that close to prospect park isn't bad at all.
crudelydrawn 22nd-Apr-2012 10:45 pm (UTC)
Crown Heights can be iffy -- I know a couple of people who have made a point to move out of the area in the last two years or so because of not feeling safe.
hazel_belle 22nd-Apr-2012 10:46 pm (UTC)
It isn't that shitty, but it is in the process of gentrification, so it is getting better. But have you seen photos of the apartment? Or taken a tour?
peddlestools 22nd-Apr-2012 10:48 pm (UTC)
i saw photos, it looks pretty great. beautiful molding, dark wood floors, a decently sized bathroom, a newly renovated kitchen with a pretty tiled splashback

i'm just windowshopping rn. i plan on renewing my current lease for six months and then i'll stay in brooklyn for a couple of weeks and have a realtor show me around
punishermax 22nd-Apr-2012 10:23 pm (UTC)
This comment thread is devoted the the cover mash ups you want most from Glee now.

I want Bye Bye Bye/Gangsta's Paradise.

inspired choice
punishermax 22nd-Apr-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
I'm doin' this tonight,
You're probably gonna start a fight.
I know this can't be right.
Hey baby come on,
I loved you endlessly,
When you weren't there for me.
So now it's time to leave and make it alone
I know that I can't take no more
It ain't no lie
I wanna see you out that door
Baby, bye, bye, bye..

(ENTIRE CAST) WE'VE BEEN SPENDING MOST OUR LIVES (BYE BYE BYE)
LIVING IN A (BYE) GANGSTA'S (BYE) PARADISE! (BYE)

As we walk through the valley (bye bye) of the shadow of death
We took a look at our life and realized, HEY WE GOT A LOT OF STUFF LEFT!

Cuz we've been blasting and rocking and going bye bye
Even our mamas think our minds been gone!
nicolaroberts 22nd-Apr-2012 10:25 pm (UTC)
i wanted nationals to be in l.a. this year to get a mash-up of 2pac's california love and rhcp's californication
so_chic_doll 22nd-Apr-2012 10:36 pm (UTC)
Not so much a mash-up, but I need Glee to do "The Things That I Have Done" by The Killers.
hazel_belle 22nd-Apr-2012 10:54 pm (UTC)
i want them to do a cover of this:

Even if I had unlimited cash I'd have no desire to buy a big suburban McMansion. I'd rather get a really nice townhouse in the city.
bssybuse 22nd-Apr-2012 10:29 pm (UTC)
i hope it's better than this

itscomicrelief 22nd-Apr-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
I would think that he'd have a little more taste.
myxwill 22nd-Apr-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
that's such a hipster house.
ava_adore0 22nd-Apr-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
I don't think this is that bad, tbh. The outside is pretty plain, but with good furniture and a paint job it could be a nice, simple home.
He's young and his resume is pretty much only Glee. This is probably a lot more realistic and practical than buying million dollar mansions already.
missthing19 22nd-Apr-2012 10:56 pm (UTC)
Thank you for this logical comment.
bostongirl2003 22nd-Apr-2012 10:59 pm (UTC)
I think he is being cautious, but he seems to be booking the most jobs outside of Glee (besides Lea), what with his writing and producing deals.

that is ugly as sin on the outside.
sweet_honesty 22nd-Apr-2012 10:44 pm (UTC)
It's ugly, but with some remodeling, it could be really nice.
faithgirl16 22nd-Apr-2012 11:10 pm (UTC)
Sure, that's not a very attractive house but Chris probably won't live in it forever, it being his first. In fact, he'll probably be the one laughing in the end when he can sell it for more then it's worth later on.
solestella 22nd-Apr-2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
Probably bought it as a fixer upper though.
tankmachine 22nd-Apr-2012 10:29 pm (UTC)
and while we r talking about real estate i was just about to sign a lease for an apartment off campus for next year when i finally got offered a housing contract after like 3 months of being on the waiting list

julietislimited 22nd-Apr-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
I will be lucky to buy my own house by 30.

How about you guys?
myxwill 22nd-Apr-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
I could buy a house in 5 years if I save my money, but I wouldn't wanna buy a house now. The market and all.
teamdowney 22nd-Apr-2012 11:18 pm (UTC)
This is the best time to buy, historic lows in rates.
changethemusic 22nd-Apr-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
i'll be lucky to be paid off with student loans by 40 and that's pushing it.

a house is in the far off and incredibly distant future.
so_chic_doll 22nd-Apr-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
I don't ever want a house. Just a nice apartment or condo or something... by a beach preferably, because I love the beach.
crucified 22nd-Apr-2012 10:40 pm (UTC)
lol never.
mothflavour 22nd-Apr-2012 10:42 pm (UTC)
If I stay in Vancouver, I will probably never own a house, sad truths:(

But if I move to the UK in a 1 year, which is the plan, maybe I'll buy one when I'm 35 and settled down.
sandstorm 22nd-Apr-2012 10:43 pm (UTC)
No thanks - houses mean maintenance that I'd have to do.
sassalicious 22nd-Apr-2012 10:45 pm (UTC)
I don't want a house bc I like being a nomad far too much
squishinator 22nd-Apr-2012 10:48 pm (UTC)
im 26 and yeah, same. If i keep saving, i might be able to by 30, but i assume i wont be married by then, and theres like no point buying a house before im married so hopefully ill marry a well-off guy who can buy us a nice one, lol.
squirrelsarerad 22nd-Apr-2012 10:50 pm (UTC)
I only ever want to own a condo. After growing up with my parents where pretty much every weekend is consumed by housework, repairs, yardwork, etc....no thanks! I'm all about living simply.

I'd like to buy a small condo in Seattle in the next few years, because I'd rather not throw my money away renting, but I don't know if thats going to happen or not.
unique_lilpixie 22nd-Apr-2012 10:54 pm (UTC)
I'll be 30 in 2 years and am still saving up to get my own apartment.

It ain't looking too good.
hazel_belle 22nd-Apr-2012 10:57 pm (UTC)
I am not even sure I want house, I mean a one level two bedroom bungalow would be alright with me.
I'd prefer to just rent in a nice apartment complex with amenities and stuff.
shadwrayvn 22nd-Apr-2012 10:57 pm (UTC)
maybe I can buy one in my late 30's
georgie_georgie 22nd-Apr-2012 11:00 pm (UTC)
never.
heulog 22nd-Apr-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
I'm almost 25 and still can't afford to move out of my parents'. My outgoings are just killing me (particularly student loans), and probably won't change for the foreseeable future given that my degree is useless and I can only seem to get mediocre-paying clerical work.

Ah. It feels good to whinge sometimes.
adlanth 22nd-Apr-2012 11:14 pm (UTC)
I'd be lucky if I could ever buy a house... I don't see myself ever having that enough money in my bank account and hate the prospect of getting into debt. Mmaybe I'll change my mind about that one day but at the moment I find the idea scary.
gheyman 22nd-Apr-2012 11:25 pm (UTC)
that is my goal. i would like to buy a duplex and rent out a unit.

ciara_belle 22nd-Apr-2012 11:42 pm (UTC)
I could probably buy a house at 30. I don't have student loan debt and I have a lot saved up from working at a boarding school (no rent/utilities, low food bill).

I can't see myself buying a house before I get married, though. And that's increasingly unlikely to happen before I turned 30.
ugly_jacket 22nd-Apr-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
i'm hoping my sales experience+my masters i am getting in a few weeks will lead me to a much better job in a pretty cheap city ... so by 30
solestella 22nd-Apr-2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
I bought my first house at 24 but then sold it immediately and never actually lived in it because I got fucking tired of fighting with the builder (long story) and because my dad got sick and needed me at home.
ominousspectre 23rd-Apr-2012 12:39 am (UTC)
My goal has always been to try and pay off my student loans "before I got married" and to buy a house within my first 5 years of marriage. I'm nearing the end of my loans now (and am actually getting married in 3 months), but can't imagine being able to buy a house in the next 5 years unless something changes drastically.
forgethissmile 23rd-Apr-2012 01:00 am (UTC)
My husband and I really want to buy a house in the next two years (I'm 26 and he's 31). His job pays pretty decently, but I'm a slum daycare girl who makes a paltry amount of money. We need to win the lottery/me to find a properly paying job for that dream to come true.
iotajot 23rd-Apr-2012 01:41 am (UTC)
I will be lucky to buy my own house by 50 tbh.
pretty_hostel 23rd-Apr-2012 04:29 am (UTC)
I have a house sitting in trust for me when I turn 25. No idea if i'll move into it or not yet though.
fickwalker 23rd-Apr-2012 07:08 am (UTC)
I *am* thirty and have no plans to buy a house in the near future (read: 12 months, at least). In my city, and the area I want to live, it's just not feasible. I don't want to compromise and move further out, I like living where I live now... It's in the city, it's 500m from my office, it's relatively close to my daughters hospital. If I have to rent for the rest of my life to keep these sorts of things, I will.

That said, my partner, my best friend, and I are looking at buying a house together in a year or two. Three of us on one mortgage gives us more capital and buying power, so we're more likely to be able to live in the areas we want to.
blackwidow 22nd-Apr-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
I feel like Kevin shouldn't have spent that much money for a house, because he's probably not going to get any major work after Glee. Sad truth tbh.
so_chic_doll 22nd-Apr-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
this slander at an ONTD member rn...
sweet_honesty 22nd-Apr-2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
I wonder if he has something else he does that earns him money. Because I doubt what he earns on Glee is enough for a house that expensive.
so_chic_doll 22nd-Apr-2012 10:37 pm (UTC)

umm
handsdowntoo 22nd-Apr-2012 10:36 pm (UTC)
IKR? Does he really have other big prospects?
ava_adore0 22nd-Apr-2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
Lea's pretty much in the same boat though. I think they both have equal chances at a lucrative career after this. idt Lea will be doing much mainstream acting post-Glee. She''d probably end up doing musicals and whatnot, and with a paycut. Kevin could probably do some acting, and he has his dancing thing to fall back on.

Neither of them should have spent so much. Wasn't this discussed in a Kristen Bell post about her home being foreclosed or something. It was super expensive and she bought it during the first season of Veronica Mars. Y'all can make fun of him but Chris Colfer's little house is probably the wisest choice of real estate of the three.
solestella 22nd-Apr-2012 11:53 pm (UTC)

IA. I actually think its really cute, and the backyard area looks private and awesome.
