Silent Hill: Revelation 3D to corrupt theaters October 26

There has been pretty much no news regarding the upcoming videogame-based sequel SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D, the follow-up to the 2006 horror film SILENT HILL but today that all changes as Open Road Films (Killer Elite, Lockout) has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film, setting it up with a October 26 release date. Filming has been completed for quite some time now but those behind the scenes have taken forever to give us any updates regarding the upcoming film -- until now.

YAS! I know the first movie/masterpiece has a lot of fans on ONTD so let's all enjoy this news together. Bless Alessa <3

Just make a movie out of Silent Hill 2, it's pretty clearly the best written and scariest of all the games, I really don't understand why they don't just do that/
superdogbiter 18th-Apr-2012 06:21 pm (UTC)
which one is where the dog was the bad guy at the end?
badwolfx 18th-Apr-2012 06:23 pm (UTC)
Uh, I think that's SH2? If you're referring to the ending where James goes into the room and there's the dog and all the monitors?

(I think that's right anyway I never got that ending tbh)

punishermax 18th-Apr-2012 06:23 pm (UTC)
Pretty sure they use that as a joke ending in all of the games.
sjorn 18th-Apr-2012 06:33 pm (UTC)
omg the dog ending is the best thing everrrrr.

sjorn 18th-Apr-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
seriously. the cult thing in SH1/3 is dumb, tbh.
firstblush 18th-Apr-2012 07:40 pm (UTC)
I agree with this

instead they'll just skip entirely over it :(

eulalia_vox 18th-Apr-2012 08:19 pm (UTC)
IA. It had good music, too.

The director just mentioned on his blog (http://michaeljbassett.wordpress.com/2012/04/18/silent-hill-2-has-a-release-date-in-the-us/) that we should expect a trailer and promo materials soon <3 <3
blackwidow 18th-Apr-2012 06:22 pm (UTC)
Excited! I loved the first one so much. Not that keen on 3D though, mainly because I hate putting the glasses on top of my glasses to watch a movie, but I think this might be an exception.

the first film was the first ~scary movie i ever watched and i still love it.
jacomus 18th-Apr-2012 06:24 pm (UTC)
I didn't really enjoy the first movie. I don't think it captured the atmosphere of the games, which is what makes them so good. Maybe I need to watch it again, because I only ever see people praise it.
rafsimons 18th-Apr-2012 07:40 pm (UTC)
I think it's def one of the best video game-to-film adaptations (though that's not saying much). But I agree, I don't think it really did the atmosphere or overall tone of the games justice. Plus, some of the comments made by the director left a bad taste in my mouth. (IIRC, he said the reason they didn't use a male protagonist like Harry in the movie was because they didn't think audiences would be able to connect with a father desperately searching for his missing child ... as though frantically wandering around some creepy ass abandoned town to find your kid is somehow a strictly maternal instinct.)
kittenism 18th-Apr-2012 06:32 pm (UTC)
Did 2 or 3 have the creepy bunnies?
killbot 18th-Apr-2012 06:42 pm (UTC)
3 is the best imo
coloursofsouls 18th-Apr-2012 06:24 pm (UTC)
I just hope it's better than the first. It was hilarious for all the wrong reasons...

omg i am ready for this

Fav Silent Hill game ONTD? Mine is SH2 closely followed by SH4: The Room, shoot me I know.
henryevil 18th-Apr-2012 06:29 pm (UTC)
SH4 is awesome and so underrated. Great atmosphere and soundtrack

SH3 is probably my favourite. It's hard to choose between the first four games imo
cordyceps 18th-Apr-2012 06:35 pm (UTC)
The first four are all good, imo. SH4 gets thrown under the bus way too often though. That game was awesome, I just feel like a lot of people didn't "get" it.
badwolfx 18th-Apr-2012 06:30 pm (UTC)
SH3. Downpour is on its way to being one of my favourites too, unless it gets all shitty towards the end.
sjorn 18th-Apr-2012 06:31 pm (UTC)
SH2 is the only correct answer, lbr.
fornikate 18th-Apr-2012 06:38 pm (UTC)
2 then 3. I haaaaaaaated 4.
killbot 18th-Apr-2012 06:44 pm (UTC)
I couldn't finish 4, TOO FUCKING SCARY
stereoscopes 18th-Apr-2012 06:54 pm (UTC)
2 is flawfree. 3 is also good but the story can be a little muddling at times, but Heather is such a great protagonist. forever bitter they changed the voice actor for the HD port.
lovely_persona 18th-Apr-2012 07:40 pm (UTC)
Girl, IA. I thought the third one was the weakest. It was still scary, but fuck you, Walter Sullivan. Creeping at the front door and bothering the fuq out of Henry whenever you wanted.

Also, I refuse to count Homecoming as being part of the series. Fuck that shitty ass game.

I have a soft spot for 0rigins tho.

/so much feels
harleenfrances 18th-Apr-2012 10:01 pm (UTC)
my absolute favorite will always be the first one bc it's what really got me into the survival horror games and i loved playing it. shit i still play it. i love them all tbh. i need to get downpour.
critic1985 18th-Apr-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
SHIT JUST GOT REAL! Excited to finally see it coming to theates. Now we just need a teaser/trailer/pics!

they need to promote the fuck outta this film.
wicky_wicky 18th-Apr-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
