Fandom Crossover: Samwise Gamgee crashes Team StarKid panel at C2E2
Team StarKid attended this weekend’s C2E2 convention in Chicago to participate in a panel about their new show, Holy Musical B@man!. The cast appeared in their superhero costumes from the musical, and they had a new friend make a surprise appearance at their panel – fellow C2E2 guest and Lord of the Rings star, Sean Astin.

(Sean Astin is in the center, in the Scarecrow costume)
Astin appeared at the Q & A wearing the Scarecrow costume belonging to absent cast member Dylan Saunders, and sat in on the panel as an honorary StarKid. Both Team StarKid and the audience threw questions to him as “Dylan,” and he did his best to answer in character.
Team StarKid showed a behind the scenes video and answered questions about the making of their new B@man show, as well as talking about their favorite comic book heroes and villains, what fandoms they’re personally involved with (hint: they’re Bronies), whether they’d put on an existing show – the actual Dylan Saunders is apparently gunning for Little Shop of Horrors, which we think would be awesome – and of course, poked fun at absent Team member and Glee star, Darren Criss.

Check out those hobbit feet, y'all!
Astin appeared to enjoy the experience of being a StarKid for a day, dancing around the room with the cast as they performed “Super Friends,” the closing number of Holy Musical B@man!, before taking some pictures, signing a guitar, and doling out hugs to the group, telling them, as “Dylan,” “You guys will always be my Fellowship.”
Team StarKid, being the renowned geeks that they are, could not entirely make light of the situation, with Nick Strauss stating that this was the best thing that had ever happened to him, and Meredith Stepien interrupting herself mid-answer to squeal “I’m sorry, but Samwise Gamgee is sitting right there.” The whole table leapt to their feet cheering in excitement when Astin mentioned his involvement in Nickelodeon’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.

Astin later tweeted the pic that’s in our header, saying “Best Pic Ever…so colorful! Glad @dylan_saunders got the flu” and followed it up with this one:

Btw here is part 1 of 4 of the entire panel:
Awesome! So awesome! Now Sean Astin is among the ranks of celebrity Starkid fans, with Evanna Lynch and... others I can't think of right now! Awesome. I love conventions. Don't you guys love conventions? Were any of you guys at C2E2? Favorite convention memories? Guys, this crossover is pretty cool, so try not to clog the comments up with your boring, unfounded h8, ty!

are you cosplaying? as who? which hotel are you staying in? which panels are you most looking forward to?
honestly? the composer's panel. i went last year and the guys who did avatar were there with the composers from dexter and falling skies. plus the quick draw panel! that was so fucking hilarious. only found out about that one because i was waiting for the korra panel to start a few hours later. worth it.
I'll have to wait and see the panel schedule. Last year I just played it by ear and had a great time.
But I'm going to Chicago Comic Con so all will be well.
Tbh I wasn't that excited about this, even as a huge Starkid fan, because I don't have that much interest in Batman but it really exceeded my expectations.
Thrust, Brolden, thrust!
