The pop culture babies are coming! Baby naming website Nameberry has made predictions of what the most popular baby names of 2012 will be based on an analysis of almost 3 million page views on their site. The guesses are an eye-opening, pop culture revelation of what is hitting with soon-to-be parents. Highlights below:
Rue
Taking the top spot is a beloved Hunger Games female name, but it’s not the obvious one. Rue, the doe-eyed heroine who stole our hearts (I throw berries at you, Marvel!) leads Nameberry’s list, according to their statistics. If a Hunger Games character had to take the cake, I’m glad it’s Rue. Can you imagine teaching a youngin’ to say Katniss?

Like Sansa and the Hound went to a Katy Perry concert, and Jaime calls his new haircut a 'Britney'.
I also love Jaime. But spelled Jamie. As a nickname for James. It sounds really dumb with my last name, though. :/

I have the hots for her. Michelle, not Arya.
press conference soon.
I pray the prosecutors are ruthless.
my friend just had a bb and named him greyson, and three other friends had bbs last year and named them adam, gretchen and gary.
I didn't have any girl alts, but if I had been a boy I'd have been Nicolas.
blech
If I was a boy I was going to be John Vincent (not sure if they would have used English or Polish spelling though)
my dad wanted to name me lori. lol, no thanks.
If I'd been a boy, my name would have been Elliott, after the kid in E.T. (rme at my parents lol)
It's not too bad, I think they went through a tonne of flower & plant names.
So freaking awful. I am glad my grandmother talked my mom out of that.
if I was a boy: jason or justin
SO glad that didn't happen
And if I was a boy I would have been Stephen Joseph or Joseph Stephen, which are both incredibly beige.
other alternatives (for a girl, and I'm a girl lol) were Satu and Siro (and the first means literally a fairytale and the second means a slender person, so damn I'm glad those aren't my names).
but a few days before i was born she was in an elevator with "a pretty black lady" who was wearing a perfume called chloe so that's what my name is now
If I were I boy I would have been James or Chase
if I was a boy Steely Chaz. So glad Im a girl
was almost named: rachel, elizabeth, carolyn (really glad about not getting any of those names bc my husband's name is ross, elizabeth has too many stupid nicknames and i would probably punch someone if they called me "betsy" or whatever, and carolyn is kind of old lady for the mid-80s when i was born imo)
if i had been a boy: eric or anthony
pretty normal stuff there i guess lol
kind of sad it didn't happen, tbh
i knew 7 other girls with my name during school
smh
DNW.
I think they should have gone for it as everyone can't say or spell my name because it looks to similarly to other names so they say those instead. It's never ending frustration. I remember one of my teacher changed all the lists/schedules with the students names on it just because he thought my name was spelled wrong, and obviously he had to change everything back after the he met me on the first day of school.
Ian if I were a boy.
If I was a boy my name was going to be Carlos Felipe. Bleh.
Apparently the 80s still weren't over in 1991.
i am so glad i am a girl
Meh.
obviously it didn't happen.
i would have been Matthew if i was a boy.
Or Simone.
Don't worry, we aren't creepy Duggar all J named, but my mom and her sisters all have J names. When they started having kids, they each named one girl a J name. My sister was born first and is Nicole, so once they knew I was a girl they decided I'd get the J name honor.
Out of those options I'm glad I'm Jacqueline/Jackie tbh.
never having kids...it's best that way.
little daenerys, irri and rakharo
