Gabrielle Union is having a pretty good year. The actress is not only gearing up for the release of her new film Think Like A Man, but she’s also snagged a starring role in the upcoming BET show written by Mara Brock-Akil titled Single Black Female.
But everything hasn’t always been so easy-breezy for Gabby. After it was revealed that she and NBA superstar Dwayne Wade were an item, many called her a home-wrecker, and she was even sued by Wade’s ex-wife for being the other woman and allegedly being a bad influence on Wade’s children (the suit was dismissed).
Through it all, Union kept her mouth shut, and refused to talk about the rumors. According to Gabby, many saw this as an admission of guilt, but for her, she had one reason to stay mum: Wade’s kids.
On why she didn’t publicly defend her reputation against rumors she cheated with Dwyane while he was married
“The kids. For the people that hire me, it’s a non issue. But at the end of the day, Dwyane’s kids are going to be the ones who really suffer. They’re 10 and 4 and a half. They’re old enough to understand the mean things that strangers can say.”
On feeling bullied by her fans who believed she was “the other woman”
“I think people mistook me taking the high road as an admission of guilt. Dwyane and I made a decision very early to not react to the negativity. And I kept feeling like the truth would come out. The problem is, when it did, nobody cared. What I discovered on social media is that people don’t read the entire story.”
On handling Siohvaughn’s lawsuits alleging Gabby as a homewrecker and detrimental to her kids
“I fought it. My life is just too easy to track. So, we were submitting plenty of proof for the times she said I was in Miami. So, it was like, obviously you’re not telling the truth. And then the courts dismissed the case.”
On her current relationship with Siovaughn
“I’ve never had one. I wasn’t involved then-because I wasn’t involved with their marriage–and I don’t have one now.”
On contemplating breaking up with Dwyane because of the divorce turmoil
I did a lot of talking with girlfriends and sorting through my feelings about the madness. This kind of love is a gift. It’s so consistent. There's no way that I would trade it for people who refuse to simply acknowledge the truth.

And lol @ "high road". Okkkkk.
If only I could punch people over the Internet...
Also legit question, why can't white people tell how old black people are? I'm basing this on the second tweet and my own experiences.
Also, we black people tend to age well. I'm 25 and I have had people ask me when I'll be graduating high school.
I like to think of our aging genes as compensation for the shit we've been put through.

A lot of black celebrities age really well tho
Which is extremely sad and stupid IMO.
-that cover is bizarrely shopped and makes her look... idk, much wider than she really is. It looks like they put her head on Oprah's body or smth.
-I still wish she wasn't in that horrible movie. She and Michael Ealy need to make a break for it.
even though i'm planning on being childfree, it shouldn't be something i think about. /talkingaboutmyself
i like her
I laughed when Wade's X sued her. Oh to be privy to what that judge was thinking when he read that petition lmao.
That's what the judge was thinking.
But I hate her in movies! Idk why...I just can't help it :(
