According to Tony Hicks in the CC Times today:
This is taking Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon to a new, semi-creepy level.
Apparently Bacon and his wife of 23 years, Kyra Sedgwick, are distant cousins, according to the PBS show about genealogy, "Finding Your Roots."
Cue "Deliverance" music ... .
Reports don't say how "distant" they are. The PBS program, which uses DNA searches, is hosted by Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr., who says the married couple "are indeed distant cousins. So talk about six degrees of separation, right?"
People.com reported Wednesday that Gates is also quoted as saying, "I want ... Americans (to) realize how united we are as a people. ... There's so much animosity ... and one of the things that I want the series to do is to show that, deep down, we are all Americans. We've been sleeping together from the very beginning of the country."
Um ... eww. Maybe this isn't something we need to know anytime soon.
Bacon and Sedgweck have two children: son Travis, 22 and daughter Sosie, 19. Who may also be cousins with their parents and each other or something.
