It's weird watching my friends "save the date" video. Like they were all lovey dovey and kissing a lot and it's just awkward to watch them cause I know them. haha they said they were talking about food when it showed them just talking and laughing. That's something I would do.
lucciolaa 29th-Mar-2012 03:02 am (UTC)
What's the tackiest wedding you've been to? I love tacky wedding stories. It's the only reason I watch Rich Bride Poor Bride.
randomtasks 29th-Mar-2012 03:05 am (UTC)
I went to a Halloween wedding.

They were bride/groom pirates (really tacky pirate costumes) and all the guests came in their costumes.
lucciolaa 29th-Mar-2012 03:10 am (UTC)
lmao what did you dress up as?
ellie_andrews 29th-Mar-2012 03:29 am (UTC)
ngl, I would love to have a normal wedding ceremony and then a Halloween reception.
shoutingasong 29th-Mar-2012 05:30 am (UTC)
lol, my friend had a Halloween wedding in the woods and there were like 12 people, the dress code was "wear a costume" and it was the strangest assembly of people ever...
trich_tangents 29th-Mar-2012 03:10 am (UTC)
I'm from New Orleans, and one of my cousins got married across the river at a swamp tour place. The wedding was outside, which isn't tacky, but there were people smoking during the ceremony, and the groom was chewing gum. During the reception, the groom was dancing with this little 20 month old or so girl I later find out is his daughter. From another woman. Conceived while he was with my cousin. And they're getting married because my cousin is pregnant. When we were walking out to the parking lot, we passed another guest who smiled at me- she was missing her front four teeth.

Oh, and then my uncle (the girl above's dad) was getting married to his second wife, and their wedding was in the meeting room at the parish playground where my uncle worked. The food at the reception was stuff like cocktail weenies, and generic Cheeto puffs on a giant platter.

The really weird thing is that my other cousin, whose sister and father had the tacky weddings, had a really nice and elegant wedding.
h0tfuss 29th-Mar-2012 03:10 am (UTC)
idk, I think at this point people recognize that a wedding is your one (or two...or three lol) opportunity to plan a big party exactly how you want it to be. From that perspective, I understand why people decide to be goofy about it.
sabrinafair1 29th-Mar-2012 03:15 am (UTC)
Not been to, but an ex friend of mine had a hot topic wedding so much purple and black. Her cake toppers where the 2 main characters from the corpse bride. I kinda was like O_O great way to look at marriage, DEATH. They are divorced now hehehe.
trixx_r4_kidz 29th-Mar-2012 03:36 am (UTC)
bride was HEAVILY pregnant and the cake was blue... there's more to it, but yeah...
kimberwyn 29th-Mar-2012 03:58 am (UTC)
All of them? The last one the bride and groom got married in a baseball diamond and she wore sneakers w/ a tea length gown. The reception food was hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and there was a baseball call.

The one before that was a pot luck in a museum.
lillylilacs 29th-Mar-2012 04:02 am (UTC)
I have never been to a particularly tacky wedding but my mother went to one were the couple pulled their several month old baby down the aisle in a red rider wagon.
hoot 29th-Mar-2012 04:08 am (UTC)
Does an actual white trash wedding count? They were married LITERALLY on the side of the road and we had subway at the reception.
bounded_woman 29th-Mar-2012 08:09 am (UTC)
OMFG T_T....This was the wedding that ended my moms love being a wedding planner. The family was shady to begin with. First they wanted to do this gigantic big tent wedding in their backyard along with the ceremony, fine. Then they started adding all these crazy extra things which would have been fine had they not kept giving us bad checks the entire time. The mother of the bride was a diva and wanted everything to be black and gold. SHE SPRAY PAINTED COLUMNS AND EVERYTHING SHE COULD IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE GOLD! Since they lived in a rural area we had declined booking a horse and carriage because they live on a main road that is only one land booth ways that sees a lot of traffic. We said it was fine to have it there fore pictures. The ceremony was running behind and ended up looking down the road to see the bride IN THE CARRIAGE with a shitload of traffic behind them honking after we specifically told them NOT to do so because of this. When it came time for the reception the mother changed her dress into a LEOPARD PRINT LEOTARD! WTF?! Everything was so fucking tacky... To make it worse all the food was barely edible because they didn't want to shell out the extra money for siding on the tent so every bug up in that piece was sitting or stuck to everything. Worse event ever...
bounded_woman 29th-Mar-2012 08:15 am (UTC)
Ack one more. It's one of my close friends wedding. She's a girl that needs a lot of a hugs from her dad kind of person and as a result ended up marrying a guy that's generation is from the 40-50s (she's in her 20s). They had two kids and was heavily pregnant. She got her dresses from the Deb and paid less than $100 for her and her bridesmaid dresses. The chapel was the size of the garage. I felt so bad because she invited a lot of people and people are really creeped out and put off by the fact that she married something that is mistaken for her grandpa. Her reception was at their house. IT WAS SO DIRTY! They left the cake sitting out while they were gone so house flies had gotten to it (It was July). She son took off all his clothes and was running around spilling orange juice everywhere. It was such a mess -_-.

I went to a wedding this past summer that for the ceremony, in a church, there were burgundy and gold balloons everyhwereeee. It looked circus-ish. And during the whole ceremony (mostly for the important parts) there were like 3-6 people at any given time just walking right up to the stage area and snapping pics with their cellphones all nonchalant.
happypekpek 29th-Mar-2012 03:02 am (UTC)
besides the UP one, every one of these is RIDICULOUS
happypekpek 29th-Mar-2012 03:02 am (UTC)
ok fine, the harry potter one is kind of cute...

distant_lines 29th-Mar-2012 03:03 am (UTC)
I know they can be cheesy and stupid, but I think I'd do engagement photos. I'm a big picture dork. I love having pictures all over, so it would be another excuse to have more pictures around.
superhetoric 29th-Mar-2012 03:13 am (UTC)
i think it makes sense to take engagement photos - you're happy, young, and hot. but doing it this way is just sad.
ellie_andrews 29th-Mar-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
I might too but I think it'd be hard to do it in an un-cheesy way. Not impossible though.
kimberwyn 29th-Mar-2012 03:59 am (UTC)
I don't see why not, honestly, but I probably wouldn't just because I'm not a picture person.
etoile_amore 29th-Mar-2012 03:03 am (UTC)
these are so cute!
they're not ridiculously tacky and over the top.
h0tfuss 29th-Mar-2012 03:05 am (UTC)
ioso 29th-Mar-2012 03:41 am (UTC)
LOL I believe you've posted this here before. Can't believe I remember that.
h0tfuss 29th-Mar-2012 03:42 am (UTC)
LOL, I've posted it a few times before. I can't believe anyone still gets the sleeveless princess gown.
fruitchews 29th-Mar-2012 03:07 am (UTC)
Slightly on topic.

My aunt and uncle were just talking about weddings and how their youngest daughter is probably never going to get married but that it was okay. Then turn on me and start calling me a spinster for not being married and how I need to be married asap. I'm only 10 months older than their daughter. Idgi.
shameless_re 29th-Mar-2012 03:09 am (UTC)
it's okay bb my entire extended family thinks im a lesbian because im single (and pretty much have been my entire life) and I just turned 23.
fruitchews 29th-Mar-2012 03:13 am (UTC)
I'm gonna' be 24 this year. I think it's the almost-mid-twenties age that gets to people. Like we should be married, popping out babies and be on the way to the White House by now.
gaga 29th-Mar-2012 03:26 am (UTC)
lol my entire family thinks im gay for the same reason

rip
ellie_andrews 29th-Mar-2012 03:32 am (UTC)
I'm 26. If one more relative asks me "when are ya gettin' married??" I'm going to lose it.
motorwill 29th-Mar-2012 03:12 am (UTC)
Next time that happens, start asking about their marriage, detailed questions. They will either have to lie through their teeth or shut up.
mari_lyn00 29th-Mar-2012 10:41 am (UTC)
My parents friend who's in her 40's and has never married, once was like 'once I turned 26 and I wasn't married I knew I'd never get married because my time had passed' I was like, wtf? And she's always on me about getting married, that's probably because i'm over 26 and she's worried about me lol.
xdecadentx 29th-Mar-2012 01:22 pm (UTC)
Yeah my cousin that's my age is getting married this year, I'm waiting for everyone to be like 'okay, so what's wrong with you?'
randomtasks 29th-Mar-2012 03:07 am (UTC)
I'll probably never do a traditional ceremony so I'm sure that I'm going to have to do engagement photos to minimize the butthurt.
branchness 29th-Mar-2012 03:08 am (UTC)
The Notebook photos are the worst things I've ever seen. I want to slap that couple.
shameless_re 29th-Mar-2012 03:11 am (UTC)
I hate that movie. I always get glares when I tell people that. I will say it takes a special guy to agree take take The Notebook inspired photos
xcollsangelx 29th-Mar-2012 03:32 am (UTC)
I hate it too.

in_suburb 29th-Mar-2012 03:09 am (UTC)
I feel like the girl in the Titanic photo is annoying.
superhetoric 29th-Mar-2012 03:12 am (UTC)
i feel like all the people in all these photos are annoying. because they are.
boss_sister 29th-Mar-2012 03:09 am (UTC)
Why don't people remember that Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany's is a prostitute?
therealycats 29th-Mar-2012 05:59 am (UTC)
It's probably less that they don't remember it and more that they don't have the comprehension skills to pick up on it.

Also possibly that they've never even seen the movie, let alone read the book, just seen Audrey Hepburn in that dress and promo shots and think it's ~glamorous~
