Sneak Peek: Michelle Duggar in tears as she breaks the news of tragic miscarriage to her 19 children
She tragically miscarried what would have been her twentieth child, Jubilee Shalom Duggar last December.
And, now, in a new sneak peek from this coming Tuesday's season finale of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, Michelle Duggar and her husband Jim Bob are seen gathering their 19 children together to break the sad news.
All the little ones were just so excited,' the devastated mother says in the preview, prior to revealing the sad loss of Jubilee Shalom Duggar, five months into her pregnancy.
The 45-year-old matriarch is seen in the clip wearing a tight smile on her face as one of her little boys asks whether they'll get to meet a new baby brother or sister.
'Trying to just keep my composure long enough for us to be able to get everybody together was very hard,' she reveals.
Michelle is clearly overwhelmed as she begins to tell her children the tragic news, and she breaks down as soon as she looks towards her husband Jim Bob for strength.
In their most difficult season finale to date, the episode which is entitled: The Duggars Say Goodbye, audiences will finally get to see exactly how the deeply religious family mourned their little Jubilee.
In the episode, the Duggars hold a touching memorial in Springdale, Arkansas, for their stillborn daughter, which hundreds of well wishers attended.
Jim Bob expressed his sadness during the ceremony, but says their child is now in heaven.
He said: 'We won’t see this child’s life and the phases that we’ve seen for our other children, but we know we will see this child in heaven one day.'
'We are thankful for each child, and we are blessed to have the children we have here and the ones we will meet someday in heaven.'
At the ceremony, a selection of photos - which some might find distressing - were distributed to guests, with one image showing Jubilee's tiny feet on Michelle's hand, with the message: 'There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.'
Radar Online reported that Jubilee weighed just 4oz and measured 6cm when she was stillborn on December 11.
The doting parents told Radar Online today that they 'don’t grieve without hope' and that if it is God’s will they would love to have another child.
A clip aired on the Today Show during an interview last month with Michelle and Jim Bob, showed Michelle breaking down when she was told her baby has no heartbeat during a doctors appointment on December 8. She had a natural miscarriage three days later.
'I think just the joy of looking forward to new young life in our family and then going to the ultra sound and finding out our baby had no
heartbeat was devastating,' Michelle explained during the Today Show interview.
'I think many others have experienced very similar situations because we've heard from many others and I think probably the hardest part is when a loss occurs like this people really don't know what to say.
'We realise our sweet little Jubilee is with the lord and we will see her again.'
Jim Bob said the family immediately pulled together to help Michelle and each other get through the grief.
'I think our whole family grew closer together through this experience and I think we cried a lot and prayed a lot and god gave us the grace to get through.'
The couple previously escaped tragedy when nineteenth child Josie was born five months premature. Josie recently celebrated her second birthday.
The mother-of-19 also posted a special message to Jubilee in an online video titled You are Loved and Missed.
Michelle said: 'I will miss listening to your heartbeat and praying for you as you grow in my womb. I will miss feeling you kick in my tummy. I will miss cradling you in my arms and singing to you.'
'I will miss seeing life through your eyes, as I enjoy doing through all the other children so much. I will miss doing mommy things with you and for you.'
Michelle made the heart-rending revelations after opening her message with an explanation about what her child's name had meant.
She said: 'Dear Jubilee, mommy wanted to write a letter to my precious baby girl. You know, your name Jubilee Shalom Duggar, means joyful celebration of peace.
'We were so thankful to God when we found out we were expecting you.'
And she said the rest of her large family was also devastated by the loss.
She said: 'Your siblings did not view you as the competition. They are truly saddened and disappointed to not have really known you.
'You were not loved any less because you were baby number 21, or Duggar grand baby number 23. We are blessed because you lived you lived.'
The Duggars have been married since 1984. They have 19 children – 10 boys and nine girls – and two grandchildren.
