makeup post: VERA TAKEOVER

Forget all other makeup brands: VERA will take them OVER

We already love her for her luxuriously feminine confections, so we’re guessing it won’t be too hard to fall for Vera Wang’s first color cosmetics line, which she’ll be debuting exclusively for Kohl’s. In conjunction with the BeautyBank division of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., Wang will release a 74 piece collection in April as part of the Simply Vera Vera Wang brand she has with the retailer.

“It completes my Kohl’s universe,” the designer told WWD. “Also, a pop of color is such a gorgeous way to let your natural beauty shine through. It’s the ultimate accessory.Wang promises that each product is a combination of color and treatment, since she believes strongly in the maintenance of one’s skin.

What can we expect from her next? Wang says her daughters are nudging her to do a nail polish line. “It’s an obsession in my home,” she said. We’ll be looking forward to it!

My skin is driving me so crazy lately. I get dry flaky spots that I cannot seem to get rid of on the forehead area between my eyebrows and on my cheeks. I've been using some Clinique moisturizer on the spots that my sister got and it says it's specifically for dry skin but does nothing. And yet my face still looks shiny/greasy all the time :|

Pluuuuuuuuuuus still cannot get rid of any of my blackheads. Ug. I fail at skin care and products, idk what to try next.

same i can't find skin products for my dry skin cause i get so overwhelmed
klmnumbers 13th-Mar-2012 08:01 pm (UTC)
ugh, that happened to me pretty seriously a couple weeks ago - super dry and red between my brows and the apples of my cheek. Honestly, I slathered extra virgin olive oil all over my face, washed it off, and then stuck on my moisturizer. It helped it out almost immediately.

Then, I was just good to my skin, used masks a few times and made sure to moisturize every night/morning, and it calmed right down.
gee 13th-Mar-2012 08:04 pm (UTC)
I will have to try this then, hopefully it works out as well for me! :(
abortions 13th-Mar-2012 08:02 pm (UTC)
omg i have rly dry patches too but i treat them with vitamin e. you can buy the gel capsules and break em open and mix them into moisturizer or spot treat. its also good if you have hyper pigmentation
kapuki234 13th-Mar-2012 08:03 pm (UTC)
sounds like your skin's just dehydrated.

use a toner/softener that contains glycerin before using a moizturizer. glycerin's a good humectant that binds lipids past the skin barrier.

also use a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid. good for combo-dry skin.

as for blackheads, can't help you there, i'm still picking at mine. beautybyontd members have some good tips on that though.

What color should I paint my nails this week? I love these polishes so much, but I never use them and I really want to. :(

I'm on the market for a new eye cream! Any recommendations? My under eye circles has gotten significantly worse and a concealer can only do so much. :\
katie_g_lynn 13th-Mar-2012 10:12 pm (UTC)
I've been using Origins Ginseng Eye Cream (might be Gin-zing to be cute or whatever), and I like it alright. It definitely helps brighten eyes and concealer goes well on top of it imo, but it's not perfect. The only thing that will really help dark circles is lots of sleep, hydration, etc. Something that brightens your eyes will help, though.
angstandennui 14th-Mar-2012 01:43 am (UTC)
I've been using the Garnier eye cream that's also a concealer and it's okay, I guess. I'm not sure if it's actually helping my dark circles or they're just getting better on their own because I'm sleeping better.

je_blagues 13th-Mar-2012 08:13 pm (UTC)

abortions 13th-Mar-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
mac fluid line, maybelline does a pretty good dupe of it too
merenwen17 13th-Mar-2012 08:47 pm (UTC)
I have an eyeline pencil from estee lauder that I got on my 18th birthday. I'm about to turn 26 and I still use it almost every day! I can't believe it has lasted this long. it sdefinitely worth $24
randomtasks 13th-Mar-2012 09:01 pm (UTC)
Milani has an awesome pencil liner, it's on par with Urban Decay's eyeliners for fraction of the cost imo.

And for gel, I recommend wet n wild's gel liner if you're only using it for your upper lid, it stays better on there and goes on more smoothly than maybelline's (although Maybelline's gel liner is great for the waterline).

idek what to do about my lipstick feathering. i bought a primer and it doesn't do anything. i bought the too faced clear anti feathering lipliner nope. exfoliate my lips doesn't nothing and i put lip balm before applying and that doesn't help either :(

cool story bro.
kapuki234 13th-Mar-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
have you tried putting concealer on your lips?
cab 13th-Mar-2012 08:10 pm (UTC)
yeah that didn't help either lol it dried out my lips like whoa.
abortions 13th-Mar-2012 08:09 pm (UTC)
lip liner? eyeshadow?
quidscipio 13th-Mar-2012 08:11 pm (UTC)
hmm if you have some concealer you can try using a small brush to "line" your lips, if that makes sense. if i'm going all out with a bright lip sometimes i do this to give me a really sharp edge to my lips and it's pretty good at keeping my color in place, but lipstick doesn't particularly feather on me so ymmv? also have you tried a regular lip liner and not a ~clear one?
teamdowney 13th-Mar-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
Walks in to makeup post, walks right back out! NOPE. Must resist. I have way too much makeup as it is.

I have a few horrible sun spots and I don't know what to do. Concealer only does so much. I'm so self-conscious about them. Any suggestions?

retin a or aha/glycolic acid stuff.
