FAO Schwarz Celebrates 150th Anniversary



Famed toy store FAO Schwarz is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2012. In honor of this retailing milestone, FAO is presenting a special gallery exhibit featuring prototype, original and early editions of some of the best-known toys in the world, alongside some nostalgic items from the FAO Schwarz archives. "A Gallery of Historic Toys" will be displayed prominently throughout the New York City flagship store through April 10.

I used go to the FAO Schwarz on Michigan Ave as a kid .. they also had FAO Schweetz at Water Tower Place.. I miss them :(

my parents used to take me and my brother to the macy's thanksgiving day parade every year, and the day before we'd do FAO + watching the balloons getting blown up. it was always so awesome omg the barbies section <333333

I used to have so much fun fooling around in their store in NYC when I was a kid.. and also when I was old enough to know better, lol.

when i was little and my rich grandma was alive she used to have employees follows her around with a cart and fill it up for toys for me from fao shwarz

I remember the Seattle location closing down. Then someone bought the bronze(?) bear statue that was outside... it was like a daycare or something. Must have been a slow news day, because I remember them airing a segment about it. /csb
