my guess is that they can probably tell who is actually a fan and who is going to sell their autographs/pictures to tabloids.

i imagine that if you go up to someone who you are just "randomly" bumping into and you just happen to have a poster of them, they know it's not for real (hopefully).

Most of them are not fans. Celebrities usually get pissed off at those autograph hounds. I mean, what fans have a picture ready for him to sign? They usually want photo op instead.

He's politely expressed many times that he'd rather go back to his native country than get caught up in Hollywood.

...that being said, he did sign with one of Hollywood's biggest agencies recently, so who knows? His English isn't perfect and his accent is quite thick (and this is from a purely marketing standpoint, mind), which could be problematic for box office potential.

I have to admit, back in his Brice de Nice and C'est la casse de Brice days, I never would have expected him to ... you know, win an Oscar or have the career he has now. After seeing OSS 117 though, it was obvious he was pure perfection.
