Beyonce Breastfeeds Blue Ivy in Public

Count Beyonce Knowles among the millions of mothers worldwide who are proud to breastfeed their children out in the open.

Escorted by husband Jay-Z, the "Girls (Run the World)" singer, 30, took along daughter Blue Ivy, seven weeks, for a casual lunch at Sant Ambroeus in NYC's West Village last Saturday. And Beyonce nursed her little girl at her the table, an observer tells Us Weekly. Two additional sources confirm to Us that the first-time mom has been breastfeeding her daughter.

Beyonce was snapped leaving the eatery holding her newborn in a blue BabyBjorn -- covered fashionably with a black Donni Charm scarf.

Mother and child emerged the very next day; this time, Beyonce held Blue in an exotic leopard-print wrap by Baby Bjorn.

Although the superstar is happily taking some time off to be a mom with Blue at their massive Tribeca loft and Scarsdale, New York mansion she shares with Jay-Z, 43, she's gearing up for two musical projects in 2012 -- and a potential film, One Hit Wonders. The brainchild of Glee creator Ryan Murphy, the musical comedy may star her pal Gwyneth Paltrow plus Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon as faded 90s singers who team up in an effort to reclaim their fame. Beyonce's potential role in the flick is not yet known.

My exact words.
goldengal1193 29th-Feb-2012 11:14 pm (UTC)
Not a mother, but I guess I'll stay in this post.

I'm more than likely going to adopt though.
___heyvanity 29th-Feb-2012 11:15 pm (UTC)
Come to me for your adoption profile please.

To have it designed, that is.

I'm going to adopt too :)
shake_it_out 29th-Feb-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
Semi-related, I recently learned that my work pays for all or at least the vast majority of your adoption related costs. This extends to same sex marriages and domestic partnerships as well. Pretty rad!

I've had it decided since I was probably like, 15 (I'm 24 now) that I'm going to adopt my kids. Sorry future husband, I've already made up my mind.
aleisha_xo 1st-Mar-2012 01:28 am (UTC)
yeah I decided I want to adopt a child too
robinsparkle 1st-Mar-2012 07:33 am (UTC)
I want to adopt as well :) Not sure when, though. I do want 2 of my own, so I'm not sure whether to have my adopted child be youngest, oldest or in the middle
leitao 1st-Mar-2012 08:37 am (UTC)
Same here. My siblings and I turned out fine, but both sides of my family have a bad and frequent history of mental disabilities, dementia, etc. =/ I'd rather adopt kids.

I love her so much.

And I hope this doesn't turn into breastfeeding wank, that's my least favorite type of wank tbh.

A+ for Beyonce, too.

Enjoy! Although I think the author removed the most inflammatory remarks (something about blowing your nose and breastfeeding being the same thing?) but it's still pretty wanky.
treebraids 29th-Feb-2012 11:15 pm (UTC)
pics or it didn't happen.
fashionbb 29th-Feb-2012 11:15 pm (UTC)
Also - if this was actually true - I'm sure some pap would've snapped a pic of her breastfeeding her kid at the table. Just sayin.
wigglybob 29th-Feb-2012 11:16 pm (UTC)
Breastfeeding seems really convient. Unfortunately I've heard of people's horror stories of people bothering them while they're breastfeeding in public. smh
leviicorpus 29th-Feb-2012 11:18 pm (UTC)
idg that. I'm ngl, I don't like when people breastfeed in public, but I would never go up to the mother and complain or tell her to cover herself up or anything.
wigglybob 29th-Feb-2012 11:28 pm (UTC)
Why does it bother you though? I just don't understand why it bothers people.
megedeborch 29th-Feb-2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
Well, judging by the breastfeeding wank we had on ONTD I'm not surprised.
baglady25 29th-Feb-2012 11:27 pm (UTC)
My mom says that she was laughed at and "ewww, gross'd!" by two women when she was breastfeeding me once.
cl0vergirl 29th-Feb-2012 11:42 pm (UTC)
my friend took a picture of this woman who whipped out her boob to feed her baby. it wasnt one of those discrete ones either. she full on exposed her entire boob before letting the baby attach itself to it. he took out his camera and took a picture of it. she started screaming at him and he asked her why she had a problem now when she just bared her boob to everyone in the restaurant.

i made him delete it but he just wanted to teach her a lesson on what can happen when exposing yourself when everyone and their grandmothers has a camera phone.
celica18l 1st-Mar-2012 12:01 am (UTC)
it is. i got more sleep than my bottle feeding friends because my son would nurse i'd nap while he ate (which usually involved him going to sleep too).

plus no washing bottles best thing ever.
guzzlemuzzle 1st-Mar-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
I bottlefed my oldest and breastfed my youngest, it was so much easier to breastfeed. Night time feedings didn't bother me, I could leave the house without a huge bag of a billion things you need to feed the baby.

No one ever said anything to me except for my great uncle but I was intentionally trying to piss him off and get him to leave my grandparents house. I also only had to feed once in public and it was extremely discreet. I can't understand why someone would be offended by it, screaming babies are so much more annoying than boobs that 99% of the time you can't even see.
lady_cosmo 1st-Mar-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
When pregnant with my first, there was an almost 60yr old woman, telling me her disgust about breastfeeding mothers, because it's SOOOOOO MEDIEVAL, and it was disgusting.
realityvsdreams 29th-Feb-2012 11:17 pm (UTC)
bb's gotta eat
fashionbb 29th-Feb-2012 11:17 pm (UTC)
Ivy Blue sounds way better than Blue Ivy.

Either way - still sounds like a stripper name to me.
badanesthesia 29th-Feb-2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
What kinda strip clubs you goin to?
fashionbb 29th-Feb-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
You really don't think the combo of Blue & Ivy can pass for a stripper name? Come on now.
shantayustay 29th-Feb-2012 11:37 pm (UTC)
Onyx in Atlanta!

My drug dealer is there.
cosmoboi 1st-Mar-2012 12:56 am (UTC)
ia, I don't know if Blu Ivy would be any better. Your icon is cute btw.
manatees 29th-Feb-2012 11:17 pm (UTC)
Good for her.
superdogbiter 29th-Feb-2012 11:18 pm (UTC)
i was allergic to my moms breast milk so i ended up being really sick in my first month of life
misscrystal25 29th-Feb-2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
I didn't even know this was possible.
fassavoy 29th-Feb-2012 11:30 pm (UTC)
Maybe it's due to lactose intolerance.
sadistnation 5th-Mar-2012 04:28 pm (UTC)
It is incredibly rare (as in almost unheard of) for a baby to be allergic to it's mothers breast milk. The more likely culprit is an intolerance to something the mother is eating. A common one is dairy, so if the mother removes that from her diet the baby will be fine. Unfortunately, women get a lot of horrible information from their doctors, which is so sad, and so you'll hear a lot of women who think their babies were allergic to their breastmilk and that they couldn't breastfeed - it's really sad.
lidahbidah 29th-Feb-2012 11:30 pm (UTC)
It was probably due to something your mom was eating.
