i finally saw martha marcy may marlene
whoa
synopsis = film was good, lizzy was great, cults are bad
silentxstrom 26th-Feb-2012 06:57 pm (UTC)
I finally watched that on Wednesday. I thought it was weird, but well-acted movie. Elizabeth is a fantastic actress.
bresson 26th-Feb-2012 07:04 pm (UTC)
God I love that movie.
fineapplewine 26th-Feb-2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
One of my favourite films I saw all year, definitely.
joaniemaloney 26th-Feb-2012 07:19 pm (UTC)
I loved that movie.
pressed she didn't get more buzz, tbh. I was so blown away by her performance. & John Hawkes was good too!
iamalreadyinuse 26th-Feb-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
is there a link anywhere? I'm starting to like Lizzie more.
house_tanner 26th-Feb-2012 09:07 pm (UTC)
Loved it so much. Great slow burn.
jerriblank 26th-Feb-2012 11:15 pm (UTC)
it was so good, would be tough to watch again though
hereiam12 26th-Feb-2012 11:30 pm (UTC)
i really liked it and i usually hate that kind of movie
kookyklam 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
Jennifer should really reconsider her stance on friends reunion...
nadioz 26th-Feb-2012 07:09 pm (UTC)
didn't she had 2 hits last year? Paul Rudd is the one with the 3rd flop in a raw.
buffy_usa 26th-Feb-2012 07:22 pm (UTC)
last 5 films

5. the bounty hunter. rotten tomatoes 9% opened at #3. nominated 4 razzies.
4. the switch. cringe worthy film premise. rotten tomatoes 51%. can't recall opening - straight to dvd?
3. just go with it. rotten tomatoes 18% but opened #1.
2. horrible bosses. rotten tomatoes 69% and opened #1 but due to the male leads, not her.
1. wanderlust - see now

the math works out. generally her movies gross more than budget so financially she's in the clear. but the quality is crap. she makes mediocre to horrible rom coms.

for the most successful movies, she didn't carry the film, the male or plot did. any passable female actress could have played opposite jim carrey in bruce almighty. any passable female actress could have played opposite CUTE DOG MOVIE and owen wilson in marley and me. just for example.
nadkathegreat 27th-Feb-2012 02:28 am (UTC)
all her recent releases where she was the biggest draw flopped.
lovebats 26th-Feb-2012 07:12 pm (UTC)
i would agree but Courtney really butchered her face so she wouldn't even be buy-able as Monica anymore
jungsoo 26th-Feb-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
is she the only one saying no for a reunion or something? I didn't know there was a project for something!
solira21 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
saw the woman in black
it wasn't bad, very nice to look at. I'm beginning to seriously love danrad, too.
actxappalledx 26th-Feb-2012 07:23 pm (UTC)
Who couldn't love that perfect little man?!?
nastyposition 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
i liked journey 1 but i dont think i'll bother with this

the lack of horror movies out rn is not what i'm here for
ljupco 26th-Feb-2012 06:59 pm (UTC)
your icon is so beautiful no words can describe it really
nastyposition 26th-Feb-2012 07:13 pm (UTC)
fabuleuxx 26th-Feb-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
I want your icon but with LDR's snl spin.
ilikeandrewbird 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
I was getting ready to be all "blah blah blsh I cant believe people will watch silly Jennifer Aniston movies" but holy shit, NO ONE watched it. This makes me happy tbh.
odd_predicament 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
Wanderlust didn't do quite so horribly for a Rated R movie, right? I mean its per theater average is decent.
ilikeandrewbird 26th-Feb-2012 07:03 pm (UTC)
it did terrible
evett 26th-Feb-2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
For the amount of money Wanderlust made it needed to be in less than 2k theaters do be considered decent.
tammyinlalaland 26th-Feb-2012 08:27 pm (UTC)
I saw it Friday night and it was PACKED... It was really funny too..
nadkathegreat 27th-Feb-2012 02:39 am (UTC)
it's per theater average is the same as Vow that was premiered 3 weeks ago, it can't be considered decent tbh. Look at per theater average of #1 movie and see the difference.

studio expected it to get at least 10mil this weekend although their expectations were already low - they didn't have much hope for this one or they wouldn't have moved it from October to February.
odd_predicament 27th-Feb-2012 04:53 am (UTC)
Well you can't compare something a Nicholas Sparks-esque movie to this rated R comedy. But you're right, it didn't do so great. I was just being hopeful, and I know rated R movies are sometimes held to a lesser standard.
comalies 26th-Feb-2012 06:56 pm (UTC)
Yesterday I said I did not regret sleeping all day and night. I do now. Last night was awful, ugh. On the bright side I got a lot of reading done this morning.

It's actually pretty nice today and I feel like I should go somewhere but I know it's not gonna happen.
vanishingbee 26th-Feb-2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
awww, go somewhere! shopping at the grocer around the corner, if you have one, is a good way to get out.
comalies 26th-Feb-2012 07:15 pm (UTC)
I'm thinking about doing that actually, I am seriously craving some grapefruit juice of all things.
damnsonyouhigh 26th-Feb-2012 07:10 pm (UTC)
why? just get out the house.
dracopet 26th-Feb-2012 08:37 pm (UTC)
Where are you? I'm outside Chicago and it went from bitter, terrible shit yesterday to almost 50 and sunny in like twelve hours. Midwest weather, smh
loganx2 26th-Feb-2012 06:57 pm (UTC)
I love looking at Rotten Tomatoes and see that the audience doesnt give a shit what critics think. People are going to see what they want to see.
fionaapple 26th-Feb-2012 06:57 pm (UTC)
I'll wait for Wanderlust and Gone to leak or Redbox. I saw This Means War, like I said in the last post. It was cute.
ljupco 26th-Feb-2012 06:58 pm (UTC)
I can't believe how bad WANDERLUST is doing. They have been promoting it hard, and it's hilarious, even Chelsea Handler offers VIP seats to her taping of the show IF you bring with you a movie ticket of Wanderlust lulz (as a proof you've seen it at the movies~)
Even This Means War tops that shit
fionaapple 26th-Feb-2012 06:59 pm (UTC)
I haven't seen any commercials for Wanderlust or any ads at all. I only heard of it because of ONTD.
_dennis_csi_ 26th-Feb-2012 07:02 pm (UTC)
same.
baboona 26th-Feb-2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
lol pretty much
eaglefan2011 26th-Feb-2012 07:09 pm (UTC)
same
javamonster983 26th-Feb-2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
yep, same
damnsonyouhigh 26th-Feb-2012 07:18 pm (UTC)
this is the first time i'm hearing of it
foofbunny 26th-Feb-2012 07:02 pm (UTC)
Have they been promoting it? I didn't see any ads for it until this thursday.
vanishingbee 26th-Feb-2012 07:06 pm (UTC)
I want to see it, but I legit just heard of it because I went to see a diff movie and its trailer played before hand. I've seen nothing else at all for it, other than on ontd.

I was super excited though, YES PLZ HIPPIE COMMUNE MOVIE.
sekhmet2 26th-Feb-2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
Same here, they've promoting the hell out of it. I thought it looked like a waste of time, even with Paul Rudd.
zoom_z00m 26th-Feb-2012 07:24 pm (UTC)
Every1 hates Jen aniston
williammiller 26th-Feb-2012 07:27 pm (UTC)
lol who would want VIP seats to her show anyway?
hungthem00n 26th-Feb-2012 07:55 pm (UTC)
where do you live? I literally just heard about it 2 days ago
iamalreadyinuse 26th-Feb-2012 07:59 pm (UTC)
omg CHelsea is seriously doing that? How embarrassing. You know Jen must be desperate for a hit if she's got her friend doing this.
sassandthecity 26th-Feb-2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
I went and saw Chronicle. That movie was way better than the ads for it were.
wigglybob 26th-Feb-2012 07:01 pm (UTC)
I'm curious to see Tyler Perry's Good Deeds, but not enough to pay for it. Waiting on a good bootleg tbh. I'm on my way to see Act of Valor right now. I'm not sure what to expect. It better not be as depressing as The Grey.
joaniemaloney 26th-Feb-2012 07:20 pm (UTC)
I really want to see Good Deeds, but it isn't playing at a theatre that's close enough to make it worthwhile, which I'm kinda surprised, ngl.
_dennis_csi_ 26th-Feb-2012 07:01 pm (UTC)
I watched Clueless and then Cruel Intentions

and I want to see Chronicle
lovedhurtlost 26th-Feb-2012 07:03 pm (UTC)
Chronicle is so nuts. I really enjoyed it.
fionaapple 26th-Feb-2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
Ia! The last 30 minutes were intense.
smnp 26th-Feb-2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
chronicle was really good
0sleep2dream0 26th-Feb-2012 07:07 pm (UTC)
Your 90s movie choices are flawless.
brownxeyedxdork 26th-Feb-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
Chronicle had some surprisingly dark scenes.
I mean it was good, but I was not expecting some of those scenes.

peachie_ego 26th-Feb-2012 07:45 pm (UTC)
With everyone...good movie.
lovedhurtlost 26th-Feb-2012 07:02 pm (UTC)
Lol @ Wanderlust

Poor Paul Rudd. Smh
robodromo 26th-Feb-2012 07:03 pm (UTC)
I haven't been to the movies in a long time. boo-hoo.
williammiller 26th-Feb-2012 07:29 pm (UTC)
Neither have I!
janeeyre 26th-Feb-2012 07:37 pm (UTC)
same! I going again for the hunger games, it's the only movie I've been looking forward in seeing for a while now
robodromo 26th-Feb-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
yup. same here.
