ONE Direction kicked off their US tour in Chicago last night.
Fresh from a Brit Award win for Best Single, the boyband played a set at the city's KISS FM radion station. The X Factor runners-up are hoping to break America this year.
Single What Makes You Beautiful has scored them the highest debut for a UK act in the US singles chart for almost 14 years, entering the chart at 28.
Simon Cowell has high hopes for his protegées, claiming the band "are about to literally explode in America".

The lads were forced to apologise earlier this week for acknowledging the wrong radio station during their Brits speech - they thanked Radio One listeners rather than those of Capital FM.
The boys later shrugged off the gaffe by claiming to be "caught up in the excitement of winning". Possibly the free-flowing champagne and beer had something to do with it too.
It's probably a good thing that the legal drinking age in Chicago is 21 – our boys need to be on their game to crack the States.
