jk. you're going to have a blast! hk is one of my fav cities in the world - where are you staying? (also, you should make a side trip to taipei while you're there. amazing city.) i'm half-chinese and lived in asia for a few years growing up, really tempted to move back after i graduate from college
You'll definitely want to learn some basic Mandarin for Beijing and Shanghai because they're big ass scary places and Beijing's subway system makes zero sense.
How long are you staying for? I love HK and Beijing, but am kind of so-so on Shanghai.
I think it's just hard for anyone traveling to a new country and experiencing a new culture and language.
