Brie Larson headed to CBS to star in Nick Stoller's pilot

While I did not love United States of Tara as a whole, I did love Brie Larson in United States of Tara. Now the Showtime series has ended its three-season run, Larson is looking for more steady work. In the last few months, the actress did appear on a couple of episodes of The League as Ruxin’s au pair, which anyone who watches The League knows is hardly steady work, as females tend to breeze through the show as soon as their allotted two-joke run is over. Luckily, it seems Larson has now nabbed a gig that may be far more worth her while.
Larson is set to play in The Muppets director Nick Stoller’s upcoming comedy pilot. The currently untitled project was the first comedy greenlighted by CBS this season, and as such has had some time to get its shit together, hiring Michael Angarano to play the lead, a man named Jake who gets dumped by his girlfriend but then must work alongside her.
As a woman who has seen her history teacher friend divorce the art teacher in the same school building, I know how awkward the concept can get. However, Stoller has upped the awkward ante tenfold with his pilot, based on his own experience. According to Deadline, Larson is set to play Laura, an ad agency employee who literally works one cubicle over from ex-boyfriend, Jake. Love may not be in the cards for Jake and Laura, but I’m sensing a series order may be.
