SKIP THIS PART IF YOU DON'T LIKE DETAILS: his friend was driving him home, a car was coming up fast behind them [even though there is a passing lane] the friend panicked and tried to turn into my classmate's driveway and they were broadsided by a huge landscaping/dump truck. Worst part was that it happened in his driveway, and his mom came out to look not knowing her son was in the car. Then they left his body in the car for a couple hours, as it sat crumpled just a few hundred feet from his house. Autopsy showed he died pretty much instantly. Another person died in the same spot a few years later when a sheriff's deputy took a left from the passing lane in front of a motorcycle. I actually have a picture of that accident. We no longer flinch at the sound of lifeflight helicopters 'round here.

For instance, my grandpa took a photo of my grandma in her casket at her wake and had it hanging it on the wall next to his bed for 16 years until he died. I mean, I personally would feel weird doing it myself, but if having that moment captured comforts and/or provides closure for someone, who are we to judge? Everyone grieves differently, and for some people capturing that moment is an important part of grieving.
