Chris Cornell Defends A Stranger Being Bullied, Announces May Tour Dates, Covers Whitney Houston

Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell can now add “peacemaker” to his list of great qualities.
Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that Cornell was spotted last night at the Alaska Airlines lounge in the Seattle airport defending a passenger who was called “a queer” by another passenger.

Our source reveals:
“Chris Cornell was spotted breaking up a fight in the Alaska Airlines lounge in the Seattle airport last night. When a guy in a business suit called another man a queer after he overheard him make a pro-Obama statement, Cornell vocally stepped up in the packed lounge and slammed the guy for making anti-gay comments.”
Nice to see Chris help defend someone who was being bullied!!

According to a passenger in the lounge, Cornell said:
"You're a prick. You deliberately called him a queer to make him feel uncomfortable in front of a lot of people."

We’re told security then came and the man in the suit who made the original comments was asked to leave.
The other passenger and some Alaska reps thanked Cornell for his help and intervention.
Just another reason why we're liking Chris Cornell even more right now.

Chris Cornell has announced select "Songbook" performances throughout May including rescheduled dates for the shows he had to postpone in the fall due to laryngitis caused by flu. The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter released his first ever solo, acoustic album, Songbook (UME), in November to wide acclaim. The collection was compiled from Cornell's spring run of "Songbook" performances, which highlighted works from his entire catalogue of songwriting including songs penned for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog. Tickets from the previous fall show dates will be honored.

Tour Dates:
5/12/12 Tampa, FL Tampa Theatre
5/13/12 Orlando, FL Hard Rock Live
5/16/12 Miami Beach, FL Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater
5/18/12 Gulf Shores, AL Hangout Festival – Gulf Shores Public Beach
5/20/12 Nashville, TN War Memorial Auditorium

Me too. People use it for everything now as if it's some new concept, instead of words they should be using, like beatlesluv said.

I <3 Alaska Airlines. They always hand out cards with discount codes during the Seattle Pride parade, and their customer service is fantastic.

This boy who was like 11 at the time was walking around the area and noticed these bullies ganging up on this pitbull puppy who was a stray. They were throwing rocks at her and yelling and taunting at her. The boy yelled at them to stop that and they questioned if it was his dog, and he said it is now and scooped the puppy up and brought her home where she lives today.
Cool story bro

My icy heart melts at the story. IDG wtf is wrong with people thinking its okay to do this to a helpless animal, let alone a person too. Defending anybody or anything is a hard thing to do because while most of us want to do good deeds, we're too in shock or too intimidated to step in.

IKR? It's so depressing to see him now. He was still so amazing looking just 5 years ago.

He needs a haircut, it's making him look like one of those rockers who can't deal with the fact they're no longer 25.
anais_molko 17th-Feb-2012 08:38 pm (UTC)
it's the beard,he looked real good on PJ20 and that was filmed not too long ago

Aww, I love him so much (but no more weird facial hair, please).
blazinguns 17th-Feb-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
I like his wording. Instead of saying something like "using offensive words" which insinuate that there is something wrong with being "queer", he addressed the guy's intention to "to make him feel uncomfortable".
