DanRad doesn't have a filter....

...and it's awesome LOL!

Dan discusses his drinking, Kill Your Darlings, nudity, Rupert's hot bod, groupies, man-scaping and whether the ladies should just let it grow!

The actor first unveiled his slender frame in psychological drama Equus on the West End stage.

But he's set for more naked escapades in his new film Kill Your Darlings.

He said: "I'm comfortable with my body. It's funny, actually, I've just been having a discussion with the guy who's directing my new project."

He continued: "It might have a bit of nudity and he said: 'Just to let you know, if you're getting naked, no landscaping of any kind. This is the 1940s and you're playing a Jew.'

"I was like, 'Pretty much there anyway, mate! Not a huge amount of maintenance going on.'

"I mean, there's a little bit, obviously, for courtesy.

"This is way too much information, but I don't like girls with nothing down there either. It freaks me out. You have to have something, otherwise it's fucking creepy."

In the interview with Heat magazine, Dan also revealed he will never be able to compete with Potter co-star Rupert Grint's new muscular body.

He said: "I'm not going to try to compete with Rupert on the arms front. His dad is a big guy, so if anyone was going to get the proper muscleman build, it was Rupert.

"You'd have to search pretty hard to find a more handsome ginger. He's also a dude. I wish I could be that calm. I'm lucky to have found an industry where this level of hyperactivity is encouraged. Otherwise I'd just be a fucking nuisance!"

*****

Dan had a rather revealing interview with Heat magazine, stating that during the shooting of the final three Harry Potter films, Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows installments, his alcoholism was so profound that it was practically visible on the big screen.

The former Harry Potter actor confessed that there may be a nude scene in his future in the upcoming production of Kill Your Darlings, in which he will portray famous beat poet Allen Ginsberg.

And for those wary of the comment Dan made earlier this month about his relationship with Rupert Grint, he had a lot more flattering words to say about his former costar and friend in the Heat interview, as well. Dan confessed at the Toronto premiere of The Woman in Black last week that although it was true he and Rupert never texted and rarely saw each other, it made no difference to their friendship and whenever they saw each other it was as though nothing had changed between them. More on that, as well as a couple of gruesome shots of Dan in a new photo shoot, can be read and seen below.

You’re only 22. Don’t most people in their early twenties drink too much?

Unfortunately it’s not that simple. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.

Really? There were never any stories of you going on wild benders…

People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details but I drank a lot and it was daily - I mean nightly. I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work.

You mean Harry Potter had a hangover?!

I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.

You were only 11 when you started on the films. Do you think growing up in the spotlight contributed to your drinking?

I think it would have happened anyway. I think it’s just in me. I loved the fact I suddenly could talk to people and feel so entertaining and so interesting. But after a while, you’re living under such a cloud of shame about what you’ve done and the dread of who you might see, what you might have said to them, what you might have done with them. You either have to change something or give into that shame and I wasn’t prepared to do that at 21.

Did you sleep with loads of groupies?

Not at all. I was always very nervous about the groupie thing. I like to like somebody before I sleep with them, I really do. You know you’re going to have to talk to them afterwards, even if it is a one-night stand. I have… I mean that has happened, but generally speaking I’ve known the person. Someone once said to me, “You can go outside and pick from the girls at the stage door.” And I said, “No, that’s not me.” [Stops.] Because, to do that, you kind of have to be a dick.

Good Morning America interview

After GMA, Dan was a guest on Elvis Duran's radio show. Dan's a good sport on this one.

Seriously though, I love him and I think I love him more with each interview that he does.

I'm going to a screening of The Woman in Black tonight and I'm very excited.

I'm going on Friday night! I was kind of reluctant to spend money on it tbh, but this interview made me see the light. I will go for his adorableness.
dracopet 31st-Jan-2012 08:32 pm (UTC)
Are you gonna review it here? I was all excited but I read the book and don't know if it will make a good adaptation
megswan 31st-Jan-2012 03:10 pm (UTC)
The autoplay nearly gave me a heart attack.

tink_1326 1st-Feb-2012 01:11 am (UTC)
lol, I hate when you have 20 open browsers and no idea which one it's from. I then of course panic as if it's a bomb going off instead of a fucking video, idek. It's amusing to watch me panic though.

http://www.esquire.co.uk/2012/01/daniel-radcliffe/

i seriously want to know what scenes from hp he meant. i can imagine it was quite a few from hbp because he looked totally zoned out in that one
lidge 1st-Feb-2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
me too! Next time I watch any of the later HP movies I'll always be wondering in which scenes he's hungover.
hellocalamity 31st-Jan-2012 03:12 pm (UTC)
I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work.

I have done this many times before, but tbh my job is shit so #noregrets
justlikethat 31st-Jan-2012 11:19 pm (UTC)
my old job encouraged drinking at work. it was ridiculous. we had a community fridge that was always stocked with beer and liquor.
mycousinmufasa 1st-Feb-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
Damn, where did you work (if it's ok to ask)?

icallitwormlog 31st-Jan-2012 03:13 pm (UTC)
I think pubic hair is really sexy (on both men and women), tbh. I love old nudie pics for this reason.
captaintrash 31st-Jan-2012 03:15 pm (UTC)
Hairless genitalia just looks sad to me, like that picture of the bear with alopecia
maryjanewatson 31st-Jan-2012 03:19 pm (UTC)
lmao
bloodrivendream 31st-Jan-2012 03:24 pm (UTC)
Literally, lol, due to the bear with alopecia comparison.
dirtylook 31st-Jan-2012 03:30 pm (UTC)
I had to google that bear. lmao, he looks indeed like shaved sad genitalia.
I don't find any body hair sexy at all. But completely shaved down there is so childlike. So that's never sexy.
asdfg 31st-Jan-2012 03:31 pm (UTC)
comments like this is why i still pop in on ontd

fionaapple 31st-Jan-2012 03:14 pm (UTC)
He is so perfect. I can't wait to see The Woman in Black!
captaintrash 31st-Jan-2012 03:14 pm (UTC)
Totally on the same page as you re: bald vaginas, DanRad.

I mean feminism, girls should do whatever they want with their bodies, etc, but I appreciate a man who appreciates hair on a vagina.
railway 31st-Jan-2012 03:19 pm (UTC)
Stoya said it best: If you think pubic hair on a woman is unnatural or weird, you aren't mature enough to be looking at vaginas
karishcookie 31st-Jan-2012 05:48 pm (UTC)
I've never heard that before, but it's so perfect and true.

P.S. your icon will never fail to make me crack up.
beatlesluv 31st-Jan-2012 03:34 pm (UTC)
MTE! It's like how I feel about no chest hair. It's creepy. Don't you want a man with hair? I like that he sees it the same way. I'm all for keeping my pubes trimmed and neat, but not everyone likes to shave it all off you know?
johnjie 31st-Jan-2012 10:31 pm (UTC)
mte, definitely. Men generally aren't expected to shave body hair for women's sake..why the double standard?

(in before 'BBBBUT my boyfriend shaves because I ask him tooo!' congrats you're one of the few and you're also going against the dominant cultural expectation. Have a cookie)
stephaniebrown 31st-Jan-2012 03:15 pm (UTC)
i've also recently started finding him attractive, it's odd. i think scruffy, dishevelled dan is what does it.
infinite_drag 31st-Jan-2012 03:26 pm (UTC)
I'm in the same boat as you, I've recently noticed how good he looks when scruffy lol. Never got on board with the harry potter phenomenon & therefore never really noticed him... also, he seems like he has a great sense of humor and is really down to earth from his interviews.
tammyinlalaland 31st-Jan-2012 03:15 pm (UTC)
Are we still pretending, that he likes girls in that down there way?
dives 31st-Jan-2012 03:27 pm (UTC)
I think we can all agree that if an actor is LGBT-friendly it can ONLY be because he's secretly gay, and not because he's a human being or anything like that.
tammyinlalaland 31st-Jan-2012 03:43 pm (UTC)
Had nothing to do with anything other than him
beatlesluv 31st-Jan-2012 03:34 pm (UTC)
he's the last person on earth who would hide being gay actually.
ch33rylips 31st-Jan-2012 03:54 pm (UTC)
Stop he would would be proudly waving his rainbow flag with his wittle arms if he were gay.
peacetrains 31st-Jan-2012 04:00 pm (UTC)
If he was gay, I honestly think he would just come out and say it at this point. He hasn't hidden anything else, he's always honest (too honest) in interviews, and he does a lot of work with the LGBT community anyway.
loony_moony 31st-Jan-2012 04:04 pm (UTC)
Your trolling disappoints me.
zminotaur 31st-Jan-2012 03:16 pm (UTC)
he's so fucking likeable. his description about hiding your drinking is so spot on, it's something that has been a problem for me recently, I gotta cut that shit out
icallitwormlog 31st-Jan-2012 03:16 pm (UTC)
Does Dan identify as an alcoholic? Like, is he "sober"? Or is it more like, I had a drinking problem, and I changed, but I'm not an alcoholic?
masterofmystery 31st-Jan-2012 03:34 pm (UTC)
he was an alcoholic, and pretty much went cold turkey a year ago and hasn't touched a drink since
beatlesluv 31st-Jan-2012 03:35 pm (UTC)
He said he was an alcoholic in the article here, he drank a lot came to work hungover etc. But he's got it together.

Edited at 2012-01-31 03:39 pm (UTC)
actxappalledx 31st-Jan-2012 03:40 pm (UTC)
I'm pretty sure he doesn't drink at all anymore. I recall an interview where he said the amount of days it had been since his last drink
ch33rylips 31st-Jan-2012 03:56 pm (UTC)
My take on it is, he's not an alcoholic, but he felt he was on the way there, so he checked himself before he fell down that rabbit hole.
beatlesluv 31st-Jan-2012 04:19 pm (UTC)
just another mark of his strength of character tbh
silentxstrom 1st-Feb-2012 05:22 pm (UTC)
very smart. most ppl don't have the self-control to get a hold of their problems with alcohol or drugs or whatever before it becomes a serious issue.
