A new baby for Denmark's Royal Family!


Princess Marie has given birth to a baby girl in Copenhagen.

Princess Marie gave birth to a healthy baby girl on January 24th.

Prince Joachim was present and spoke to the waiting press an hour after the birth. Here is some of what he had to say:

That no one thought was possible, but it happened: It was a girl. She resembles her mother… she has dark hair. She is healthy and well shaped. When she was born it was a poignant moment. I shed a tear this time too.



Keeping with Danish tradition, the baby's name will not be revealed until the day of her christening.

Her Majesty Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik visit the princesses:

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Attend Jazz Concert in Brussels with Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary are in Belgium to attend the Danish takeover of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Princely Family of Monaco Attend the Celebration of the Festival of Sainte-Dévote

On January 26, 2012, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene along with Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover and her daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Hanover, attended the celebration of the Festival of Sainte-Dévote, the patron saint of the Princely Family of Monaco, the Monégasques, and the Diocese of Monaco. Sainte-Dévote is also the patron saint of the island of Corsica.

No. She grew fascinated with the Danish royals when she was stationed in Afghanistan with international troops, some of whom were from Denmark.

actually most do charity work and official engagements almost every single day
the british royals are a poor representation of monarchy because of all their scandals and wild teens but the continental royals are well-liked and do plenty of official work and aren't perpetually falling out of limos drunk

I'd legit not give a fuck and be know as the 'rebel princess' lol i hate formality and 'royal protocal' to my very core. It's just so restictive... The press would def be a problem. I don't know how the royals do it but they get the up most props. Would you be able to deal with all the constant press and critisim of your every move?

I am a ridiculously private person, so I would get annoyed with people asking me a lot of questions, but I don't really care what people think about me. People talking about me doesn't require me to say anything. They'll talk about me whether I say things or not, so I'd just go with that. I'd probably be the most out of control royal ever, cause I'd just flip people off and drop the f-bomb.

I think I would hate it. But I have random social anxiety that comes and goes (not to mention general anxiety), so for me it would be torture. I'd be like poor Princess Masako and just go into hiding. :(

Then again, I think being a ~lesser~ royal might be worth a try. ;) Like Charlotte Casiraghi. Although she just recently filed a lawsuit against the paparazzi, so nm...

Ok so I don't know too much about Danish royalty, but after lurking in a couple of these royalty posts, I'm convinced that Kate Middleton is going to look a lot like Princess Mary when she gets older. She gorgeous! They have very similar facial structures
