Cynthia Nixon’s Bald Head Requires Daily Shaves

What would Miranda say? Cynthia Nixon recently went bald for her role as a cancer-stricken professor in the new Broadway play Wit, and showcased her newly shorn head on LIVE! with Kelly Tuesday morning.

“I thought it was going to be kind of no-muss, no-fuss, but I have to shave it every day,” Nixon revealed. “It’s got kind of a five o’clock shadow. You don’t want to go out with that.”

When host Kelly Ripa complimented Nixon on the shape of her head, the actress admitted that she wasn’t sure she’d be able to pull the look off at first. “I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like,” she shared. But once the play is over, don’t expect her to keep up with the daily shaves. “I don’t think I’m going to keep it forever,” she added.

Wit tells the story of Vivian Bearing, a poetry professor “at the top of her profession,” Nixon explained. After receiving a cancer diagnosis — which Nixon, a breast cancer survivor, can relate to — Bearing “goes through this really heavy-duty chemo,” Nixon said. “She meets that challenge, but she learns a lot about herself.” The play is in previews, and opens officially on Jan. 26.

....bald cap? easier and less obnoxious than shaving your head every day

she chooses to be bald

for many people it's not a choice, but for her it is, and you don't get to define her baldness for her

they take a ton of time backstage and often tear, get itchy, etc etc. since she wears her hair so short anyway, it was far more logical (and she may have been paid more)

a bald cap is most certainly not an easier solution than shaving. the amount of time it takes to wrap the hair, apply, paint, and continue to touch up a bald cap is massive compared to a quick 10 minute lather n' bic
